8K/4K TV in Japan

deliciousslurper.blogspot.com/2019/03/8k.html

Apparently someone already cracked the protection and shared a sample. Can you play an 8K HEVC recording without dropping any frames? Where's Daiz when we need him to sperg out

I only upgraded my computer last time because it wouldn't play 10-bit, I'm not doing it again.

While we're on the subject of resolutions, is 720p still the default resolution most anime gets aired at? I remember this being the case a few years ago with only a few shows being 1080p and higher but I have no idea if that's changed by now.

HD channels are MPEG-2 1440x1080i or 1920x1080i which is deinterlaced to 720p

Doesn't matter what it's aired at. It's still produced at sub 1080-resolutions, and that's not going to change for years.

Except it already changed years ago, retard.

TV anime produced at 1080 or higher? Name them.

Anibin has a tag for anime done in full hd, look it up. I don't know about higher than 1080p, that probably doesn't really exist, but 1080p is extremely common, and 900p is common as well, which already justifies going above 720p. In fact, virtually no anime is done at 720p these days, which means if you download 720p you're a fucking retard. It's better to upscale from 900p to 1080p than downscale to 720p, unless whoever upscaled it was intentionally being a retard.

Look at anibin.blogspot.com/2018/12/blog-post.html

There is only one that is definitely fully 1080. 80% falls below your 900 threshold.

>unless whoever upscaled it was intentionally being a retard
They manage to fuck it up every time. Japan just can't into scaling.

DAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIZZZZZZZ

Time to buy a X9100 user.

Maybe don't have a shit computer?

This doesn't even play well on GPUs that support hardware HEVC decoding

Just re-encode it.
The Internet speed/bandwidth isn't fast for that yet.
Most current hardware doesn't have hardware acceleration for AV1.

>Linux
Oh no, it's poor and retarded.

This shit really doesn't benefit anime at all so who cares?

Is 8K even a thing? Is it even possible? And if it is, can our eyes distinguish between 4K and 8K?
Also I have problem with HEVC 1080p videos with Vlc. MPC-HC seems to work. The images even look sharper

>redline will never be touched up to 8K

8K is easily a thing, just set up four 4K monitors in a grid
4K is typically the max, it's retina limited if you're trying to look at the whole thing

It's basically a meme so Sony can keep selling you TVs.

Japan is shilling 8K massively for the Olympics.

You gotta sit real close to the screen

Just get more drives lmao
