Was OS that well known in Japan? There were tons of space series during its time.

OS is so boring. It always tricks me with that great first episode then loses me halfway.

Watching the first episode I thought "oh shit this is exactly what I want from anime right now" but I've pretty much dropped it around EP 10 since it had gotten so boring, guess its the show then and not just me

There is no debate. Outlaw Star was just Cowboy Bebop for kids too young to watch Cowboy Bebop. Once you're old enough to watch Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star no longer serves a purpose.

Outlaw Star has tits and a cute catgirl, I'll take it anyday over Cowboy Bebop.

bebop is more suave but outlaw star has more cool shit. i'm partial to outlaw. the blu rays look great btw.

To be honest, they're very different shows with similar aesthetics. Bebop was a more tonaly realistic show, where OS was more of a Space Fantasy show.

If they had been released at dfurther apart from each other, perhaps Bepop wouldn't have swallowed up the lions share of the attention for Space Westerns at the time.

Bebop and OS have a Eva/Nadesico relationship: the latter gets overshadowed by the former because they have similar premises and came out really close.

And then when the soft, fun loving Space Adventure of OS meets the slick Shinichiro Watanabe stylings of Bebop, you get Space Dandy.

I prefer Cowboy Bebop because of the soundtrack, but that said they're both really good.
