If you think Franxx was good you can only go up.

>>Convinced me to watch Darling in The Franxx
>>It was pretty good, not as good as NGE

i've never heard of NGE as a first anime , what did you think of EOE ?

Another one freed from pozzed western media.

You still have that glint that made everything magical for me.
I lost that 2 years ago, but I've been slowly recovering. Just watch and enjoy anything you can man.

i don't think it's bait , when you're new to anime , everything is either super trash, or really good.

>i've never heard of NGE as a first anime , what did you think of EOE ?
I liked EOE, thought it was a nice wrap up to the series, but it left me with some real dread to be honest. I also enjoyed the ending of NGE though.
My friend hated the last 3 or 4 episodes of NGE that were really surreal, but I watched them again after EOE and thought they were great.

My advice? Don't hunt down masterpieces. Watch good but not great shows like Higurashi or Highschool of the Dead or Angel Beats. Everyone here rushes into the masterpieces and becomes jaded fucks who can't appreciate the small stuff. Don't become that.

Does anyone have and rec's? People are trying to convince me to watch things like Bleach and Death Note, that I read the description of and they look like trash.

I think you're ready for Boku no Pico.

I will follow this advice, thank you.

yeah, watch some "ok" stuff. you will enjoy perfect blue level more that way.

Exactly. Watch the really good ones sparingly, cause watching them in succession can make other shows seem not as fun.

if you're still in highschool and have alot of time you need to get the long running shit out first , because you won't be able to late.
watch :
bleach naruto , one piece and leave hunterxhunter last because it's the best.

Recs are not allowed on Yea Forums, is better.

When he says that, he means watch madoka magica last.

Pic unrelated

I was bored of "masterpieces" when I actually watched them. Some of the most fun I've had watching anime is due to stuff like Cross Ange and Sam Flam.
You will hit a landmine once in a while.

my first anime was hetalia, imagine how fucked up I was with watching NGE as my second

>>Introduced to anime 4 months ago
Fuck off.

why are you being rude outside of Yea Forums?

Lurk for at least 2 years before posting

Fuck you nigger, get back to pol/

Once you are mature enough to handle The Legend of the Galactic Heroes it starts going down.

>and leave hunterxhunter last because it's the best
Nice bait, faggot.

It has less to do with the anime you're watching and more to do with the fact that you're still in the honeymoon phase. As you watch more series and the novelty starts to wear off you will start to see more and more flaws with the shows you pick up.

Some of the first anime I watched were straight up garbage but I still loved them at the time because it all felt so fresh and new compared to the western media I had been exposed to all my life.

Attached: 1451094370938.jpg (680x660, 92K)

Watch Trigun, the dub is good. Also watch golden boy for a nice laugh. But those might be considered master pieces. Shonen shit like bleach/naruto/the rest are for time sinks and people with shit taste that they cant escape.

Some recent good anime include made in abyss and yuru camp.

This, but unironically. There's a minimum age limit before you're even able to appreciate the soundtrack.

how did that come about, did some friend just recommend you watch an animated show about chibi anthropomorphised countries ?

:^(
I'll keep it low down on my roster
is this an Yea Forums specific rule? my main boards are /o/, /fit/, and /ck/
This is on my roster as well

Initial D and Food Wars.

Watch these first, they'll ensure you're unable to enjoy 99% of anime afterwards.

Ignore the shitposting text at the top I'm too lazy to edit it out.
Google search each crop to find out the animu.

Attached: 1554257836092.jpg (1543x1711, 1.78M)

It was one of the first ones I picked up too. But I dropped it right away because I'm in this shit for the boners and it seemed kind of gay

Other advice:
>no anime is too old, there are some great shows even as far back as the 70's
>Never get caught just watching seasonal stuff
>get used to subtitles with silly shit, you'll thank yourself later

>and /ck/
Then watch Tonkatsu DJ Agetarou.

no cromartie high school?

>Watching berserk
Thats for when they graduate to manga.

Read manga. Fuck anime.

I wasn't being ironic. You hear the hype and get your hopes up and even masterpieces will disappoint. Once you realize you shouldn't get your hopes up for anything you'll enjoy things as they were meant to be.

Speaking of older stuff almost never see Legend of the Galactic Heroes mentioned in recc threads

Some of us like color, sound, movement in our entertaiment.

>Is it all just downhill from here?
No assuming you are being genuine and not just shitposting for replies.

If you really like all 3 of those shows with them being so wildly different there is A LOT for you to sink your teeth into.

>no anime is too old, there are some great shows even as far back as the 70's
Official Yea Forums 1970s Starter Pack:

>3 series
Akage no Anne (1979)
Berusaiyu no Bara (1979)
Kido Senshi Gandamu (1979)

>3 movies
Ace wo Nerae (1979)
Ginga Tetsudo 999 (1979)
Rupan Sansei: Kariosutoro no Shiro (1979)

Why was 1979 the best year for pretentious hipster elitists?

>is this an Yea Forums specific rule? my main boards are /o/, /fit/, and /ck/
Nah bro. It's Yea Forums rule that's no longer enforced. Although it should be. Been or Yea Forums for more than two years and decided to visit us for the first time, then it won't apply to you.

my girlfriend at the time made me watch it with her and her other friend who I ended up dating after
I never touched hetalia again after the initial first season though, I hear there're some new country's with big tits, but still not enough to make me go back
weirdly enough after that I stopped watching anime cause I spent all my time on the Danganronpa VN series

Because it was the meme show of a few years ago like Urusei Yatsura was last years meme show, nobody feels the need to rec it anymore.

1979 was amazing but there are plenty older.

>some of us have ADD and prefer watching shitty anime studio fanfiction than reading the original story

>Official Yea Forums 1970s Starter Pack:
>not Heidi, Ashita no Joe and Future boy Conan
Shit list. Moot agrees

I still feel the need to rec it. And I feel the need to be specific too. You know, just in case someone accidentally watches the new one instead of the old one.

When that person suffers, the whole world suffers with them.

Hey, OP, watch the old Legend of the Galactic Heroes, not the new one.

Watch Gurren Lagann, as you seem to like Mecha. For more shenanigans like Franxx, Cross Ange is similar. As you have some smidges of being a Moekek, watch Lucky Star.

For a personal recommendation, watch Great Teacher Onizuka.

Attached: danacucks.jpg (1280x1795, 329K)

NEWFAG GET OUT REEEEEEEEEEE

That is my thought, with all these shows being so different but I enjoyed each enough that's hard for me to think that there can be much more good content, as my taste in western media and literature is kind of niche.
I like to read more than watching TV in general, but never really cared for comics.
I've been lurking/posting longer than I'd like to admit.

>Ashita no Joe
Read the manga.

OP didn't even ask for recs. Why are you turning this into a rec thread?

fuck off back to redd*t disgusting newshit

eat shit candy-ass

>>>reddit.com/r/anime

>Watch Gurren Lagann, as you seem to like Mecha. For more shenanigans like Franxx, Cross Ange is similar. As you have some smidges of being a Moekek, watch Lucky Star.
Will look into these, but what is a moekek?

stay on your fucking containment site all of you

>but never really cared for comics
Well that's another issue entirely.

Attached: 1446407365373.jpg (1946x1660, 781K)

>as my taste in western media and literature is kind of niche
That's a good thing. The best part of animation in my opinion is it's ability to explore literally anything as long as people can draw it and the Japs are down to explore just about anything and they have a lot of people who can make pictures move good. In other words it's less confined conceptually than what a lot of western media tends to be, specifically western animation. So you'll be likely to find stuff that is suited specifically to you.

most important advice and this is not just for anime :
try ro go to every series as blind as you can , and try avoiding spoilers as much as possible.

>reading manga

Attached: VomitChan.jpg (680x680, 85K)

It means you watch a show for the girls instead of conventionally good things like plot, characters, setting or technical prowess. 00's anime was full of shows that catered to that crowd so there is some animosity from some people.

You might feel that way today, but there's always tomorrow.

Death Note is pretty good but it's really fucking melodramatic

>Moot
Who?

I actually liked Miss Kobayahi's Dragon Maid for the show, not the girls. Show made me laugh like none other, does this make one a moekek?

>It can't all be this good
You've only watched four shows.
There's hundreds of good ones, dozens of great ones, and quite a few "masterpieces."
Not only do you discover genres you had no idea you liked, but you also find amazing stuff within those genres. (it was SoL for me, as a shounenfag)

The breath and history of anime make it a treasure trove, if anime is something you can like. And that's without saying all the amazing stuff that's coming out season by season, year by year now.

Regardless if whether or not you fall disillusioned like some of these other cynics, you'll be here for a while.

My advice is, if you ever feel like watching something good, just google anime recommendations and there's no shortage of really good entertainment.

Attached: rec.jpg (3380x3622, 2.91M)

Don't let it get to you, and if you do end up watching shows for the girls, don't feel bad about it, it isn't a black or white issue.

First of all,
>lurk moar faggot
Second,
>kill yourslef
Third, just watch what you want nigga.
I definitely recommend Code:Geass and Gurren Lagann.
>Gurren Lagann is possibly the best anime ever made

Some faggot

If you enjoyed stuff like Initial D or Dragon Maid then there's a lot more for you. A downhill would be if the only show on that list that would convinced you was Eva

I have to agree. A lot of shows actually benefit from the focus on girls, like removing any romance or drama, and almost always universally passing the Bechdel test (I'm a big fan of this test, as it shows decent writing).

Watch dragon ball next

Also, I just wanted to clarify that while I support the Bechdel test, there's nothing wrong with fanservice or fanservice anime. Most fanservice anime are mostly harems, which I loathe for obvious reasons (shallow, unimaginative, cliche writing).

It's funny that moe and all kinds of all girls shows get harped on all the time for having "unrealistic and idealized" characters but when you look at it the other way, from the perspective of whether they pass this test and how well they pass it, moe and CGDCT shows do more to explore different facets of femininity and female characters than most standard media does.

>Bechdel test
Go back to Gaia/Tumblr/Twitter, sweetie.

He's not wrong though, most Western media has some shitty subliminal messaging for retards.

>all the newfags in this thread buying this bait

Why are all these faggots recommending shit and why is this thread still not deleted? What the fuck, mods?

OP looks like your on a good track. Theres a lot of shows out there but the bad ones most often get dropped into obscurity, so odds are recommendations will be enjoyable (at least to a degree). People will say popular stuff is bad, but most of that is just Yea Forums elitism, a popular show Can be dumb but it's not as often the case that it's bad.

I'd reccomend Fullmetal Alchemist/FMA Brotherhood if your feeling like an adventure show, it's my go to recommendation for beginning the medium.

Deathnote is really good if you like detective shows at all, it can be rather edgy but it's the good kind of edge.

Overlord has been fun if you like video games, Specifically RPGs, but the characters are enjoyable even if you dont like vidya.

Gurren Laggan is great if you want something silly and over the top to enjoy.

cause face it, a thinly veiled recommendation thread incites than alot of other shitty threads.

Because people are becoming nicer here.

fuck it and fuck the butthurt creator of the chart, knock yourself out OP

Attached: 1554860502828.jpg (1543x1711, 1.91M)

>defending a rec thread
>says "cause face it"

>Monogatari
>not often called pretentious

Attached: 1554225552895.png (502x492, 342K)

Probably because Yea Forums as a whole is becoming meaner

not often, no
meanwhile you can't have a single lain or lroxy thread without some fucktard saying it's pretentious garbage

You are a retard.

FLCL is a weird one because it can be enjoyed as a lolsorandom or a plot show depending on your level of engagement.

Nice to see a somebody genuinely talking about how much they enjoyed shows cross-genre for a change. Theres so many fucking labels and brands of fags and close minded thinking that goes on here, it's nice to indulge in a change every now and a again. And no I'm not going anywhere, not am I from somewhere, I have also been here quite a while. Stay mad faggot.

>Ping Pong
>Monster
>Mushishi
>Patlabor (though mostly only the second movie so I guess it's fine how it is)
>Haibane Renmei
>Texhnolyze
>not often called pretentious

>LoGH
>convoluted in any way
Though I've still seen people call LoGH pretentious.

seethe less because you now have all of the names too, I know almost none of you faggots have seen versailles or anne

Fan service is fine if it serves a point. If they start pulling away from the characters or the plot though to show some tits then I'm mad. A good show like Eva can keep me guessing and give me a hard on at the same time.

Liking cute girls doing cute/lewd things

Attached: 1549578353515.png (698x1000, 635K)

Plot is fine, but I prefer PLOT

Attached: 1539035740365.jpg (1905x2781, 969K)

Anytime you see someone calling something pretentious immediately jot it down as a recommendation. 99% of the time it's one of the best of the best. Exceptions like Ergo Proxy do exist but it's worth the risk.

>getting this defensive over a prequel to Neon Genesis Evangelion

Attached: Asuka's Great-Grandmother.jpg (960x720, 87K)

Why not both?

Attached: Classic.jpg (800x450, 62K)

Mikan's puffy cunny is BEST cunny. This is a cunny thread now.

It's not called pretentious, just a thinly veiled hentai
Fuck you - I watched Versailles after being dragged through Utena and it was much more enjoyable. I honestly wouldn't recommend Utena to anyone, whereas Versailles at least gives enjoyment alongside the obligatory "watch this to understand anime history"

Attached: hachi jump.gif (500x282, 812K)

Why would I watch stuff that doesn't interest me? I've explored the 70s but gaining the historical insight/context of every show ever made is still not as important as watching stuff you will enjoy.

I'd like to post more of Mikan's delicious crotch, but unfortunately in almost all of my pictures, her supple young nipples are visible as well.

Attached: 1468532178944.jpg (1920x722, 193K)

Monogatari fits neatly into the category of emotional hentai. Also Kaiki is pretty cool.

keep seething then, i don't care
i'm just here to name the chart and give my own plot rating

NGE was my first, found the porn parody on Limewire and then downloaded the series after that.

Get in here, bros!

can't believe I forgot about Lagann, age is really getting to me

I recommend Legend of the Galactic Heroes (1988 OVA).

Now we all know that it's illegal to recommend anime in Yea Forums, but I am prepared to suffer any fate that the mods might see fit punish me with. Like my wife Yang Wen-Li once said, it's better to be banned for a good cause than to continue posting without any cause.

I've called the police.

Did someone say cunny thread? CUNNY THREAD!!!

Attached: 619386042576fce45c0320641e442de9.jpg (1649x2438, 362K)

FLCL makes me feel weird, I just try to not think about Haruka anymore
I still don't know what the fuck Lain was about though, or what parts were in the wire, or if it all was

every threads a cunny thread if you have the courage

Attached: 1551939109991.jpg (1119x1807, 867K)

OP already got what he wanted and much more, cunny spam achieves nothing.

Attached: 1498700758570.png (927x843, 715K)

>ergo proxy
>tex
Fucking what? I can see some super niche appeal there but they're not even remotely generally good. It's trivial to think of a ton of solid anime over either of those, both old and new.

This image makes my smile go doki doki.

Fuck off. Lurk 2 years before you post. Watch at least 100 anime before you post.

Attached: ritsu_out.jpg (500x465, 30K)

>midway through
>episode 82/110

He has hopes he did start with the classic NGE and Initial D but then he actually enjoyed MKDM and even bothered to watch DitF

not sure if he is going to make it Yea Forums

See
Just watching the circlejerk shows isn't 'making it'.

i havn't watched anything close to 100 anime but i watched the entirety of one piece (twice) and naruto (including fillers) does that count ?

Dear lord... I hope for your sake this is a troll.

>shonenshit claims another victim

naruto was one of my first anime i didn't know what filler was , i can sense something was off but i was too afraid to skip anything.

one piece, i just felt like rewatching , but stopped halfway through the marineford arc because the pacing became unbearbale.

You should be reading One Piece. Naruto shouldn't be on your radar. Next time you pick up a shonen (Like YuYu/FMA/Dragonball/ZatchBell) make sure to pace it out and watch smaller shows in the meantime. If you only watch shonen you're gonna be fucking clueless despite spending DOZENS OF HOURS with anime.

> read one piece.
thought about , the anime is trash.
> Naruto shouldn't be on your radar
was my first anime and it was nice.
> you only watch shonen
i've watched alot of other shows just not close to a 100.

>Is it all just downhill from here?
Yes. Run now and don't look back, fucking newfag.

What happened to rec threads being bannable?

OP technically didn't ask for recs in the OP, so mods ignored the thread and moved on.

We used to have chartfag threads instead. Newfags need some direction or they will all become seasonalniggers.

You haven't experienced the repetitiveness yet.

That's what wears you down.

>Is it all just downhill from here? It can't all be this good
Thread is just recs and shit posting. OP is clearly baiting for them.

Yes, but he gets off on a technicality. Have you really never seen that before? Then lurk more.

>this is his first sneaky rec thread

Threads like these used to get removed, sneaky or not. New mods are just shit.
