I don't get it when people say that Doppio has done bad things on-screen. Every time he is rude or kills someone, he is being used by Diavolo, the eyes can tell.

I enjoy the constant shifts in factions, peak part 7 was when hot pants and diego where taking down the president. I found how it handled stands to feel much more purposeful and earned than parts 5-6, mostly Tusk and Ball Breaker. The bromance was fun. I find it to be one of the most tragically written parts, where all the characters have a personal reason to be in the steel ball race but their dreams die along with them. I didn't find the President to be a very interesting villain, there was no point in which I doubted that he'd wasn't evil or would do something underhanded.

In this alternate reality, the original name of Diavolo would have been taken over by the dominant personality, so saying "the sons name was Diavolo" means nothing, but in no way contradicts it. Consider another alternate reality where Araki 100% confirmed that Doppio was the original personality, but adopted a different name when Diavolo was created. This reality also isn't contradicted by the quote.

SO's story is largely uneventful for the first half, and then just stupid for the second.
The main cast is much weaker than most parts, only beating Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency's.
There is little down time between arcs.
Most of the fights are average or worse with few exceptions. They lack any interesting moments or back and forth. Anything close to an interesting moment comes from the fact that the enemy's stand is weird, but the enemy usually doesn't do anything interesting with them, it's just that it's weird.
Most of the Stands, while cool conceptually, are pretty boring.
Absolute worst set of minor antagonists in the series.
I'm not a fan of how they initially made progress by beating up someone, and then that person having a memory disc that just so happens to lead them to the next objective.
Whitesnake is a horrible stand. This would be a smaller issue if it wasn't the main villain's stand.
Jolyne and Jotaro's relationship is fantastic... until it's resolved in the dumbest way possible.

Legacy is a big theme of Stone Ocean, it's what I would consider to be its main theme. So it's disappointing that, rather than reflecting on the series as a whole since it is the finale of the original universe, it was more a celebration of Stardust Crusaders. There are call backs and references to parts other than SDC, but aside from a few meaningful ones, most of them are just simple nods to older parts, which pretty much every part does. The majority of its meaningful connections to past parts are ones to SDC. It makes SO feel less like a finale to the whole series, and more a sequel to SDC.

The main plot is a roller coaster of nonsense; most of the previous parts had simple to follow story lines, even part 4 which essentially tried to be a mystery, but part 6 is a convoluted mess that most people can't get behind.
A lot of the fights are boring and dragged out, which is made worse by the worst of them immediately following each other.

Most of the villains have no personality, which is especially noticeable following part 5 which had some of the best minor villains yet.

Having said that, Jolyne is a great JoJo, and Pucci is at least top 3 main villains, it has a lot of creative stands and memorable characters, and the final arcs are some of the best in the series.

Most of the faults that people find with part 6 are also present in the rest of the series, but since those parts are more generally enjoyable for everyone, they don't notice or care as much when it happens. That's also why these threads always devolve into people shitting on other parts, because they just don't like them for whatever reason, and want to latch onto something tangible as an excuse for not liking them, because it's utterly impossible for you to not enjoy something for subjective reasons, right?

Personally when I first read part 6 I thought it was fantastic, it's only in hindsight that I find so much fault in it. If you can enjoy something despite its flaws, you should, and if you don't enjoy something, you should think for yourself about why you don't. Art is a subjective medium, nitpicking at specific faults is for fags that want to sound like they know what they're talking about, but the essence of enjoying something stems from emotion, and isn't always easily explained logically.
