So what series had the most potential but the writer was a hack so it never lived up to it?

Are you implying Gintama fits the bill? Because it was neither of those things.
I dunno about "most potential" but Franxx fell apart pretty hard
I remember hearing the writer had the concept for years but the original ending he had in mind ended up being like episode 14 which explains a lot.
It's unironically a great anime when you're a 16 year old ironic weeb. Then, after watching 250 episodes of this crap, you realize all the episodes were the same, it was never funny in the first place, and you just wasted around 100 hours of your life.
No.
>denial
The entire Fate franchise
Re:Creators.
False
Bleach for sure.
Monster. Still liked it though.
It could have been so good, and the only really bad way to do this story was the one they chose.
Nice dubs.
But this.
Eyepatch Wolf’s video hit the nail on the head.
>Do Yu Yu Hakusho but swords
>Monster of Week format
>One of the best rescue arcs underneath One Piece’s Water Seven/Enies Lobby
>”shit now what?”
>Literally same arc but in ‘other’ Hell
>Everyone is a jobber cept Ginger Nero who does everything
>No personality, no dreams, no improvement unlike other better Shonen heroes
>Writer gave up caring about editors
>Still draws great women
>TFW should’ve read One Piece before this instead back in 07
>TFW this was my first manga I read and bought
I still bust my nut to the goddess’ Rangiku who made me go mad for busty blondes. Thank god I gave up on volume 28.
Fpbp.
Its MAL's favorite anime. That has to count for something.
Monogatari. Anyone who tells you otherwise is just some deluded sap who fell victim to the sunk cost fallacy.
This is the one that comes to mind for me.
The first season was great but then it just went to shit and got boring as fuck.

But what if I'm from the 90's?
What posts had the most potential but the OP had absolutely disgusting taste and never lived up to it?
Re:Creators had the potential to be a long running series with different arcs for each series.
Naruto.
Lwa
Every unfinished series by Yukiru Sugisaki
But Candidate for Goddess in particular has haunted me with unanswered questions.
I came here to post one of four shows, three of which have already been posted itt
you've got
Darling in the FranXX a thousand cocks in your mother's ass for all eternity n*shigori
Re:Creators the first three episodes had me thinking that this was a dark horse contender for AotD. Then the next 11 episodes ended up being Meteora explaining everything that was happening. It's also sad and hilarous that Mamika nuked herself, she was interesting and I unironically wanted to see more out of her
Egao no Daika I will take my dreams of Empirenigger genocide via hyper lettuce nuke to my grave. Punished Hime robbed me.
now, there's one other series that hasn't been mentioned in this thread, one that probably deserves the title of King of the Gut Punch Disappointments. One with possibly the most potential to become a modern classic, one that ended up being the absolute worst abject garbage of them all.
Sword Art Online.
Promised Neverland
Space dandy
Akame Ga Kill.
I still remember the non sticky threads that got 3000+ replies.
Then it all fell to shit at around the half way mark, about where The Wild Hunt appeared and mine won the MCbowl IIRC.
>Darling in the FranXX a thousand cocks in your mother's ass for all eternity n*shigori
My thoughts exactly. It's fucking baffling where they went with that series. Episode after episode of milling around, wedding episode being interrupted still doesn't spur them to rebellion, and suddenly we're in space. And suddenly random time skips so Hir02 can go AlkahAkbar some VIRM.
Fucking hell, what a garbage fire.
