Why is this so damn good? Why do i feel so empty after finishing this? Will there ever be a part 2?

Does this ever get good? Dropped it after the first episode because I had to cringe through all the edgy shit.
Yes. It's probably the only theme i really enjoy when it comes to anime. Gives me the chills.
>Why do i feel so empty after finishing this?
Because you subconsciously realized that you wasted hours of your life that you'll never get back watching this tripe
Personally, i think it's fantastic. Everything is connected, though you wouldn't think so from the first episode. Handles some real life problems as well. MC has an actual touching reason for having half a harem, which is very rare. A truly unique show.
Legit question, does this show massively improve at the end compared to the beginning? I watched it back when it was new because blood and edge but didn't make it past two eps because the story was dumb and the characters all massive retards.

>"Will there ever be a part 2?"
Yes. I realised after posting this stop bully.
Characters might seem shallow at first, but somewhere in the middle of the show it really starts to shine. As i said, it handles a lot of mature themes, such as the search for simple happiness in life. I don't want to come off as some fanboy, but i really think it's worth a watch.
In that case I'll just power through the crappy parts to get to the character development/back story. Same thing happened recently when someone mentioned kodomo no jikan, a series I dropped back then for similar reasons, is actually a proper drama, which turned out to be true from ep 6 onward.
>Characters might seem shallow at first
Not surprising, considering they cut out half the manga and made up an anime original ending.
MC guy forgiving the girl was some bullshit, manga route where he absolutely fucking hates her shit, and the only reason why restrains himself from caving her face in, is because he doesn't consider the retard personality to be guilty of that shit, is much better. For no other reason than it's more relatable.
Because you're a dumb teenager.
It's cheap gore/shock porn with cheap drama with hentai-tier animation quality.
Why do people fall for this bait?
:)
lucy was one of my 1st waifus had to fap everytime she was toppless, was too much of a chicken shit to use limewire when i was 11, discovered it reading reviews of lilium a fucked up newgrounds animation that used the song had decent art for flash in 2006
>1st waifus
go back
To the guy who wanted to watch this, this is a spoiler. Don't read.
I can't agree. MC even says in the anime that he could never forgive her for what she's done. MC is a heart of gold type character, which to me explains why he didn't hate her guts like in the manga. Personally i feel like it made more sense for him to acknowledge what she's been through, and accept what she did. That is supported by him telling her that "you've been through a lot yourself, haven't you?". This also made for one of the most touching moments i've ever seen onscreen. In the end i feel like it's all about lucy's search for happiness, which most would have thought is easy to obtain for everyone. At the end of the show, it seemed more like happiness is a thing reserved for only a few people.
Read the manga. There is no excuse to be unaware of it now that it’s been scanlated for years and is even getting an official English release next month.
The point in the manga is that even if you’re being treated unfairly because of prejudice, chimping out and killing people just removes any moral high ground and pitifulness you might have. It’s why Nana is the only diclonius to survive.
The animation studio actually used to make hentai, so you're right about that part. I feel like the nudity and gore just makes for a more real setting, though it's not what i like the most about the show. The story is fantastic, the characters are all memorable and/or served a major purpose in the telling of the story. It's a memorable show that doesn't waste time with filler. Every scene has plot progression. Masterpiece.
>Only just now getting an official English release
Why even bother after all this time
Just read the manga.
Yeah. I see how that would be the most realistic ending for the series. However, i still personally like the anime ending better. It might be childish, but i feel like MC allowing her to come back into society, but not letting her associate with him or his family is a bittersweet ending. That's really all i wanted from the series.
Though i probably will read the manga aswell. Anyone got a link?
This.
There's a ton of people who conveniently ignore that Kaede is effectively the Villain of the story, she might have a sob-story, but forsook all sympathy the moment she started to target and butcher innocent families for a place to crash for the night because she was butthurt. The Director was ultimately just a goober who schemed a lot but ultimately gets BTFO the moment he sticks his head out.
Damn. This stuff really left an impression on me. I'm too sad to even beat my meat.
I cringe at the memory of my teen self thinking this anime was deep.
This gave me the vibez

The worst sin the anime committed was excising the rematch between Bando and Lucy, where the Maddest Lad just fucking dabs on her and absolutely pushes her shit in with extreme prejudice.
Tits and ass, sir. It's always because tits and ass.
Read the manga it's better
Based OP. To this day Elfen Lied is an one of a kind anime.
I really liked Elfen Lied too.
OP is not a fag for once. This show gets so much undeserved hate.
I almost never call samefag.
*bullies you more*
You shouldn't have started.
noup, actually it gets worse.
>liking elfen lied
who are you quoting
>just finishing elfen lied
newfag
Poor Nana.
(FWIW, I think the show has some good things but a lot of things which are silly and/or poorly-executed. Also it's not nearly as deep as it pretends to be. The main reason it's praised is because of the GREAT opening titles.)
