hmm I was under the assumption she was just hiding her presence in Mea so she couldn't be tracked, then she was forced out and lived without a host for a while until Deviluke trapped her.

I remember someone had a copy pasta a while back that tried to make rito somewhat better. Didn't save it but went something like

Forget how this was supposed to make rito better exactly, think it was something about him being able to bounce off the friend and get a chance to act like something besides a dense harem lead or something.
