Nazani has become such a good girl I knew it, War Nurse torture was way so effective, our doggo has become so resistant to mere normal torture

Played like a damn fiddle.

what is even the story of this manga?

Bad guy has ingredients to build bad weapon, good guys have to save one of their comrades from russians to stop bad guy together. Same old same old.

>good guy
no such thing

I can't decide if I like smug Nazani or Bu Bu~ Nazani more.

War Nurse truly is an absolute angel.

Isn't the appeal that she could be both?

Swollen eye, handsome Nazani > Bu Bu ~ Nazani > Smug Nazani

What's tkm? ten kilo?

could please > could you please
I'd be dejected if she breaks > either "I'll be" or "if she broke" there, I think
parent's > parents
the one's > the ones
the disas know > the disas known
Also wouldn't "the device uses the nerve blah blah" be easier to read?

I love War Nurse even more now. I wish she would torture that tentacle bitch too, just to show her how it's done.

Japan and US are /ourguy/. Local Ruskie ruins everything.

>Chinese girl is the best
What did they mean by this? I thought the japs hated the chinese.

They have a soft-spot when it comes to that and mythology. No koreans though

She defected

Awesome stuff, thanks as always anons

Despite some execution problems the way they explore things in this series continues to be fun. How real world governments and militaries would deal with this stuff is interesting to speculate about. Compressing so much power into a single human form would represent something fundamentally different then anything before, they often talk about magical girls being like battalions or divisions of regular units or strategic weapons, but the way that's all in the form of a person who can dial it up and down and exceed the limits of normal physics makes pretty impossible to deal with any conventional way beyond accepting enormous collateral (like actually using a nuke). And while some governments can at least relatively speaking (ie., compared to any other government) be the best and inspirational and earn loyalty that way, plenty are pretty nasty. And can't keep an MG in a box, they'll naturally travel the world and be able to make comparisons. Some would no doubt just be motivated by money and privileges and could be hired same as anyone else, but following a war to save all of humanity wouldn't be surprising to have a fair number of idealists too.

China has been absent from every arcs untill now. US will probably be MAI QUEEN's next target. Then maybe China will try to call PeiPei back admist the shitstorm.

Nobody likes the current Chinese government, or the china shills spamming and being irritating or the ones that hack everyone's shit and steal anything not nailed down. But not like there aren't some decent people too and China does have thousands of years of history, some really cool places, and some interesting old mythology (much of which is suppressed in China itself of course these days) and all that. Anywhere with enough history and territory is going to have something cool going for it a modern fiction writer can use.

Japan also never liked the respective Chinese dynasties that ruled during their time. They usually tried to invade China during these times, only to get their ass handed to them after a long struggle. Be it Tang Dynasty or Ming Dynasty. Still didnt prevent the Japs to become chinaboos and proclaim many Chinese virtues and values that they have read about in books like Three Kingdoms, Water Margin etc. to be their own.

Sino-Japanese relationship is literally the weirdest shit ever. Kind of like how Germanic babarians who destroyed Rome larp as Roman empire afterwards.

Eh, not like it's that weird to think some polity or their policies are dickish (or just plain not want them attacking you) but still find what they've pulled off and created objectively impressive in other respect. Success is success, searching it for things worth emulating makes sense.

The thing is that aggression was only one sided in that relationship. Japan is historically the one wanting to invade China and never other way around (Chinese are too arrogant to even want Japan to begin with).

The Japanese always have a deep admiration of China and the Chinese Empire, with some clans such as the Chokosabe even claiming to be descendant to the First Qin Emperor. Afterwards when China declined, the Japanese claimed themselves to be the "True China" even.

This is just like how the babarians claimed to be descendant of Rome.

One of us! One of us!

>And became a magical girl under the direct supervision of the UN.
This is one of my pet peeves. Japan really REALLY think too highly of the UN.

Not in any way that matters or the loli menace would have been purged long ago.

>This is one of my pet peeves. Japan really REALLY think too highly of the UN.
Maybe? Or they could just be realistic about what it was for and has pulled off, it's a relic of the cold war but Japan has now been between two huge powers for a while. For all the bitching about the UN, fact is that there never was a WW3 and that's a pretty big deal. It also does provide a structure that helps balance powers a bit more globally than just "spheres of influence" or the like which would be awkward for Japan. If you have hopes for the UN in terms of "spread freedom and human rights and environmental improvements" and all that well yeah hasn't done too well. But if you view it first and foremost as "no great/super power total war" well that's mostly done alright. Even ignoring total war, the age of real border shifts via conquest has mostly died down too, Russia aside. That's pretty unique in human history.

Maybe in-universe it's more effective though. An actual invasion of our entire world might give it a real kick in the butt and create some global consensus for a real force under it. And doesn't seem like it'd be an awful place for a magical girl to work with, particularly vs Russia. "Serving the world" would be a lot easier to argue isn't really a "betrayal" in the same way that going to Japan or America would be for example, she'd still be defending Russia too. If you're born under a crappy regime but it's still your homeland and you don't really want to use your powers to fight them directly, the umbrella of the UN and dedicating just to fighting Disas and terrorism looks pragmatic doesn't it?

Nico is so cool.

Oboroten' -> Oboroten

>or strategic weapons
There's a point. How DO countries defend their nukes there? Like, forget America and Russia even, would the likes of Pakistan be able to defend its nukes against magic mercs? Rather then Tamara why don't the terrorists just steal a nuke or 10 and use those?

there might have been some slight discomfort involved but war goddess rescued nico's smile!

It was just a torture vaccination so the bad torturers won't faze them.

Nico is so cool.

I cant believe she was just PRETENDING to be retarded.

what chapter should i continue reading the manga after the anime?

I can see that Chisato will make contact with Oboroten first as she's already in the country

inb4 the Necromancer girl uses poison/aphrodisiac on her tentacle during the fight, but oops, Whiplash is using prosthetic leg, no effect here, boom

Frankly you should probably start from the beginning, it's not that long. The anime was an ok adaption but as usual skipped some interesting detail. The end of the NAHA though is like chapter 23/24, so you can just start around there if you really want. After that there's another 3 volumes or so translated with v10 just started and then I guess we're caught up and will be reduced to long waits.

Maybe they were but not anymore, they've been blocked being a permanent security member since they want japan to accept refugees.
Japan is now all out in getting other allies around south east asia and india.

Yea it would. The japanese had the word 'puts into application' so I was trying to force it somehow. Anyway, I'll fix that up later tonight.

>Asuka doesn't seem to agree though.
Only because Asuka thinks of her as a fragile girl she needs to protect instead though.

Yes, starting with breathing.

Nico and Chisato deserve their own spinoffs.

> Strings this heathen user by the neck

War GODDESS

Because Mia will then come for them.

Right, thinking about it, I assume that there are probably more magical mercs, who can rapid response to a nuke stolen scenario. After all, you cannot actually use the nukes immediately even if you get them, giving time for your whole team to get killed. Note also that magical ammo works, so its not like the mundane are powerless against magical mercs. Other than that, its also possible that in the aftermath of the Disas conflict, the P5 went and grabbed nukes stationed in vulnerable countries, which thinking about it is probably only Pakistan.

Consider the non-P5 nuke powers.
India should be able to handle themselves.
Ditto for Israel.
North Korea will get Chinese/Russian support.
Not sure about Iran but I expect them to be able to get external support like the Koreans too.

In addition also note that grabbing Tamara relied a lot on the necromancer's abilities, without that other facilities would probably not be breached that easily.

>want japan to accept refugees.
Its significantly more likely the P5 doesn't want more competition. Whatever refugee shit is insignificant in comparison.

I think it's more complex then you're saying. It's fundamentally weighted against the defenders: nukes in our world are highly distributed and spread out since that provides resistance against first strikes, but that simultaneously weakens defense of any individual site against force concentration, and terrorist attackers only need to succeed once.
>you cannot actually use the nukes immediately
What? There are definitely some nukes they could probably use immediate. Even in America during the cold war the PAL codes were set as all 0s, because they were worried about them being easy to use in an actual war. That of course would be easy enough to change, but a lot of the crappy nations might not even have American level PAL and other similar anti-tamper measures at all. And magic would change the tables in terms of opening safes or controlling people to obtain firing codes.

I guess for major powers an option would be to heavily standardize on nuclear subs, which would remain essentially impossible targets while at sea and defense of subpens is a lot more focused. The lesser powers don't have that option though. At any rate something must have been done.

Also, if they get a suitcase tactical nuke type of thing they can just instantly teleport out with it. Now they've got significant time to mess with it.

>In addition also note that grabbing Tamara relied a lot on the necromancer's abilities, without that other facilities would probably not be breached that easily.
Sure but we know there is stuff like teleportation magic and crap too. Necromancer was core there, but there must be other skills that could yield effective different approaches (mind arts maybe).

>Its significantly more likely the P5 doesn't want more competition. Whatever refugee shit is insignificant in comparison.
Yeah obviously that's just an excuse. And it's not the P5 generally but rather the typical internal politics of the P5. Ie., the US would be happy to have Japan join, but China and Russia of course don't want it. Everyone wields a veto.

I like how worldbuilding set up pretty well in Asuka. It just brings more realism and grittiness into the Mahou Shoujo world.

>the US would be happy to have Japan join
Maybe, but you never know when their coziness can change so its all speculation imo. Note what I mean is that I doubt the US would want more veto members, same goes for the rest of the P5 I feel.

Although what is probably not speculation is that I think all the P5 would rather they be the P1, because like you said, veto powers.

I like the non-gritty realism too though. Like in this latest chapter, there is the fact that they really truly are humanity saving heroes and that is going to inspire people who in our world would just remain cogs in the machine. Having some positive idealistic magical girl heroes being on the world in the flesh, and triumphing against a horror invasion, probably actually would result in some of humanity taking their own positive actions too.

>is that I think all the P5 would rather they be the P1, because like you said, veto powers
No, not at all. Not having a security council wouldn't change that user, because the powers are based out of real world powers to some extent. Ie., regardless of what any diplomacy says any major nuclear power can "veto" certain things if they care enough about it, they've got nukes. Remember the founding point of the UN, SC and the P5 is to create a proxy way for major powers to deal with shit without actually going to another world war. Not having it wouldn't suddenly mean anyone could get there way, it would just change the field of argument more to the battlefield. If 4 of the P5 members left that wouldn't be a good thing, and a P1 would actually have less legitimacy. They can still ignore it if they really want anyway, so it makes no sense to dilute it as a tool. And the very rare times they all agree there is extra weight that comes from them all being so different but agreeing anyway and having to had to go through the exercise of horse trading and arguing it out.

Right, that makes sense. If 4 of them left they would just create another UN anyway. Depending on why they decide to leave I guess.

>Can't put faith on his country anymore

Why is Russia such a shithole.

Well, it's full of Russians. Google New Year's Eve Grozny assault.

/h/ find a job in as interrogator

I guess it's not actually that weird given the history of real world short term short sighted thinking and decision making in military leadership since forever. Still though it's always striking how there never seems to be much weight given to the obvious risks. Like, sure a magical girl under her own choice isn't going to be as directly useful as a weapon you can use as you want, and convincing and working with that is more work. But independent action and genuine loyalty is also useful when shit hits the fan. And any control system made by definition could be utilized by an enemy too and now your weapon is suddenly pointed at you.

Furthermore if the other magical girls ever find out you now have a bunch of extremely pissed off massively combat hardened autonomous armies-of-one out for your blood. Revenge doesn't even have to take the form of active measures, it could be purely passive: maybe there is another Disas attack or magical terrorists or something and the world's magical girls just, you know, stay home and watch a movie instead. However much short term advantage total control of Tamara offered, it's not like she's actually perfectly indispensable, they do have other magic research going on and a very powerful conventional military. And if freely let go Russia would still get the benefit of being defended from Disas/terrorists anyway. Lot of risk for a few years of extra offensive power.

Though again history is full of dumb shit like that. Not saying it's unrealistic, if anything it's depressingly realistic.

>Why is Russia such a shithole.
They went straight from the Czars to the Soviets to modern kleptocracy, public never had much chance. Everyone is so cynical and expects the worst of everything that it self-perpetuates. It's the mirror of being overly naive/idealistic: if someone is too cynical and sees conspiracies everywhere and nothing can be trusted they're either easy to manipulate or it's a short hop to "well nothing matters anyway then" which neutralizes them just as effectively.

It was probably paranoia at work, and the Red Army judged any possible ill will from Tamara to be outweighed by total reliability. If they couldn't control her, then they would probably have killed her.

Like, I don't know if you've read it, but the comic Uber touches on a mass production process for superhumans during World War 2. The Russian superhuman, Katyusha, is the first of her kind and she did NOT think well of Stalin (she was an ex-sniper who had been fed into the meat grinder). Neither could Stalin control her. Therefore his plan was to pretend to give in to her, have her train up superhumans, and then when the time was right, they would kill her.

In this series, the Russian leadership would probably have done something similar to Tamara had she tried to abandon them.

>there must be other skills
Possible, and I'm addressing this by saying I don't disagree, but I think there is too much to speculate for the moment so I'm glossing over it for now.

>There are definitely some nukes they could probably use immediate
Well, yes, but in a world with magical mercs and without appropriate counters, nations might consider that whatever inconvenience, even in a war situation of using their nukes might be preferable to having say, the US or Russia sending in a magical strike team and detonating nukes on your soil. Other than that, I don't think that using magic to control people to get firing codes is feasible, the methods we've seen so far seems to need some wind-up time, might be enough time to notice someone important just went missing, with that said, this is more of a soft disagree.

>major powers an option would be to heavily standardize on nuclear subs
Sounds legit, I think the P5 - China and Russia + Israel already either have significant nuclear reserves on SSBNs or mostly uses SSBNs. Even then, with the new threats I can see China and Russia rushing nuke armed subs, even if they have to deploy rushed interim SSBs or something. Not sure about India, but I can see North Korea and Iran with not many nukes stacking them up and stacking defenses, although even then that might risk a strike from the US, maybe Russian/Chinese security guarantees?

>instantly teleport out with it
Nothing much I can say about that, based on the NaHa attack, teleport jammers does not seem to exist.

Just /k things

>there never was a WW3
Please don't tell me you think the UN is the only thing preventing WWIII.

>If they couldn't control her, then they would probably have killed her.
That though would also invite retaliation from other magical girls. I mean, if they went rogue and just showed up to murder Russian high command and told the world it was revenge for them murdering Tamara (who is a legendary world hero) like what would they even be able to do about that? Don't think any real international support could be counted on if the MG didn't get too out of hand, it wouldn't be sanctioned of course and there might be stern words afterwards but it's not like anyone else would be interested in stopping it or punishing the MG afterwards. And unlike the mind control killing her would be impossible to fully cover up. It'd be just plain difficult period in fact, the whole issue is the MG are so tough.

>but the comic Uber touches on a mass production process for superhumans
Unique dynamic in mahou shoujo though is specifically the lack of mass production. That's what distinguishes it more from a sci/fantasy tale where strong magic can just be utilized as another tool with mass produced magitech weapons. Uber is cool in its own right but the power dynamics are different right? Russia can't have Tamara create/train up replacements, because there are none.

Again though not saying it's unrealistic, just still seems dumb, or that they should have had extra failsafes (like real life PAL with sequence requirements for example). But the smart move would still be to have in the UN but thankful to Russia and look for soft power options.

Remember also, the UN is designed to be weak not strong, it's a talk shop, and Russia has a permanent veto. As second best to having her work for them working for the UN on global defense and that's it isn't too bad.

>Please don't tell me you think the UN is the only thing preventing WWIII.
Why would you think I would think it was the ONLY thing, ffs user of course not. Lots of things have prevented that, including plain old individual actions (like during the Cuban crisis, or Stanislav Petrov's actions which may well have saved us all). But the UN has also been a place where tensions have gotten resolved and helped keep sides talking. It's helped create general international border stability, though at the price of reducing international intervention for internal affairs. The big powers have stuck with it for a reason.

Damn Nazani's mom looks pretty hot.

Not after the drugs

You mean creating invasion points to attack russia and the middle east? they stick with it because they are threatened.

>You mean creating invasion points to attack russia
wut. There is only one major power that has done unilateral invasion for permanent territory acquisition in modern times and that is Russia. Also Russia rightly considers its biggest strategic threat to be China, the West is mainly a propaganda thing and dangerous mostly if the Russian people got any more ideas about freedom and non-corrupt government in their heads. Russia is shrinking though, has a big land border with China which is huge, growing and could use more land and resources. Whatever pretty words they dress things up in they aren't morons about national interest.

>they stick with it because they are threatened
Duh? Same with the US, China, UK and France. That's the whole point after all, any major power is a threat to any or every other. That's the whole foundation of diplomacy, managing threats and competing interests. WTF did you think it was all about?

wow this manga has something for everyone

Should everyone in the military attend at least one torture session with War Nurse now? They'll all be immune to weak shit like this.

Varvara is interesting she doesn't like to break toys on the first day so she's taking her time and probably toying Nazani that's why she spared that Russian major.

She broke the major because she needed someone to operate the brainwashing machine. She couldn't even make Nazani confess that she is undercover.
Plain incompetence.

only girls can join those sessions

>Should everyone in the military attend at least one torture session with War Nurse now?
That'd be a total waste of her time and she'd never get through them all anyway. Only worth it for magicals, a regular pro can handle it otherwise. In all seriousness counter interrogation training is a real thing, generally relegated to pilots, wet intel, spec ops and such roles though.

Mugen "War Nurse" Kurumi - World's #1 Expert on magic torture
She should write a book

i get the feeling that kurumi is the author's self-insert, i wonder if he was bullied in school

Training for torturers typically includes being subjected to torture. Asuka's the only one who likely hasn't been tortured in that japan-based set of mahous.

Life has tortured her enough.

Season 2 when?

probably never since otakuwhales mostly have shit taste, but even if they did another probably not until at least v12 or v13 come out because they got through like 6 volumes just season 1. don't even have 11 yet right now.

They'd cover it up, of course. Probably say "some faggot used disas weapons on her, we only showed up in time to find the corpse, etc."

Also, if it's just a matter of screening for a girl / whoever with appropriate magical potential, I'm surprised Russia didn't do anything efficient / unethical like mass screening girls who qualified, then disappearing them to experiment with mass producing their own magical girls.

Maybe that's what China did. I mean, they don't seem too torn up about Pei Pei vanishing. They probably have an army of indoctrinated MGs in tactical camo and magic QBZ-95s or something.

BTW, were you aware someone dumped all of your translated chapters to MangaDex? mangadex.org/title/17176/mahou-shoujo-tokushuusen-asuka

I remember TL user saying people were free to upload there, it's kinda a surprise that it took someone this long to actually do it.

>otaku's hate Asuka because they hate action girls in general

total bullshit and total shit taste.

>Otakus hate action girls now
When did the happen

Yea, feel free to do whatever.

When the people that grew up watching beetrain's girls with guns stopped watching anime.

>Bee Train is out of business
>Manglobe is out business

Looks like Sunrise, 3Hz and Liden Films are the only hope left to represent action girls.

This.

>They'd cover it up, of course.
This seems nearly impossible though. For one thing it'd be too flashy, MG are too strong to take out cleanly and quietly. Sure they can be killed of course, but it takes a ton of firepower and they cause a lot of devastation in the mean time. And that's assuming they actually have an objective there and thus would stay and fight. If an MG simply makes it a priority to run away, they'd be nearly unstoppable.

>Probably say "some faggot used disas weapons on her, we only showed up in time to find the corpse, etc."
But user they've killed hundreds of "some faggot with disas tools", again if it was that easy Disas wouldn't have lost the fucking war. Other MG won't buy that. And the corpse would tell all, so you'd have to claim that it was somehow destroyed which sure is convenient.

And gee, if only the legendary 5 had, you know, some master class torturer and magic medic who can just use a magic truth potion on any regular human to extract everything they know right? Oh.

>Also, if it's just a matter of screening for a girl / whoever with appropriate magical potential
It's not. It's that high enough potential to be an MG is like, one in tens of millions. Forget the page but it says there are like 100-someodd known MG and an estimated few hundred more unregistered, total, worldwide. Lots more men & women would have potential to be magic mercs, but those are vastly weaker then an MG. If it was so easy to find more BB wouldn't have gone to so much trouble just over whiplash. They certainly have no problem mass searching girls as we saw with Nico.

Was also said that amongst all those 2nd gen MG, they have yet to find any as powerful. Sachuu said that even in the spirit realm the magical 5 are considered unprecedentedly strong. So far they aren't shown to be remotely replaceable.

>Also, if it's just a matter of screening for a girl / whoever with appropriate magical potential, I'm surprised Russia didn't do anything efficient / unethical like mass screening girls who qualified, then disappearing them to experiment with mass producing their own magical girls.
The conditions to be a MS are extremely strict so instead of wasting your godrolled girls on experiments, might as well turning them into MS legally.
They probably have some magical girl mercenaries and maybe even some illegal MS. Gathering them sounds more plausible than trying to make new one on your own.

I'll add that even this doesn't cover the geopolitics: think of every major power and lesser power on the planet that wouldn't mind seeing Russia taken down a notch. That's basically everyone, Russia hasn't done much to make friends. And even beyond that great chance to earn some favors. So all of them would use normal intelligence assets to look into Tamara's death no matter what Russia said, even with zero suspicion on the surface, just in case. Every humint mole, witnesses, all the advanced surveillance sats and whatever else. Anyone finds anything, they trade/leak it to the remaining M5. Any hint of foul play would make Asuka go nuts, maybe Mia too, which brings Japan, America, and Kurumi into it. With Kurumi they'd backtrace through the Russian command chain in no time. It'd be ugly from a PR point of view too, might rouse discontent in not just the population but the regular Russian army.

All of which is to say: bad idea. Which makes sense, if you dabble in great powers, better be ready for the price and the new attention from other great powers it gains you.

OPT material

any /k/ommandos know what these guns are and why kurumi might be the odd one out? lower recoil or something? not that that should matter once transformed for any human gun. wonder why mia at least doesn't use something with .50 BMG.

Attached: 0070.png (884x1257, 947K)

Two, China being the other one. Russia is well aware that, whenever it feels strong & secure, China will always go into an expansionist mode. Not to mention its attitude of 'once Chinese soil, always & forever Chinese soil.'

Speaking of which, I have to wonder what the distribution by nationality of all the 2nd Gen MG are.

>wonder why mia at least doesn't use something with .50 BMG.
Easier to be carried and more ammo?
Also, we don't know whether bigger caliber affect how much magical power can be added to the bullet right.

I was actually thinking of uploading it to the 'kami, but never got a chance to.

Kurumi's using an automatic shotgun, so it's definitely not for the lower recoil. I assume she's looking for short-range firepower or her marksmanship is subpar.

She can also share ammo with Asuka.

we got time to kill.

Asuka and Mia are using HK416 rifles, chambered in 5.56x45mm
Kurumi is using an Atchison Assault 12, an open bolt automatic 12 gauge shotgun.
I'm going to assume most magical girls can compensate for recoil quite well through a combo of simple firearms training and their innate strength.

>Also, we don't know whether bigger caliber affect how much magical power can be added to the bullet right.
says 'adding' penetration power, so seems like a more powerful base round could be enhanced to a higher level maybe. but you're right that physical size means smaller bullets = more capacity even if weight is irrelevant. maybe just if regular can already punch out attack helicopter or tank or whatever, why bother with any more? be overkill. fighting that undead dragon was a surprise. maybe loadout would change if they knew it'd be anti-bioweapon going in?

Attached: 0031.png (884x1257, 1.23M)

>Kurumi's using an automatic shotgun, so it's definitely not for the lower recoil
>Kurumi is using an Atchison Assault 12, an open bolt automatic 12 gauge shotgun
thanks a lot anons, no idea that wasn't just a regular machine gun of some make, that makes total sense then. was wondering what the heck the reason was, but war nurse equipped for short range high spread/stopping power seems smart. cool author had a reason for it without any exposition.

probably enhancing the gunpowder with orihalcum or whatever else the magical world can come up with to enhance powder burn rate/pressure.
in that case, a larger shell length and diameter means more magic enhanced gun powder can be added, thus increasing penetration.
the physical round itself could be enhanced with say, a hollowed out tip with a magical explosive charge.

Thought that was what the magic bullets the magic squads use are? Mia's magic seems to be something more exotic and powerful even then that, maybe direct kinetic acceleration or adding some sort of energy shield matrix right to the bullet.

BTW, why didn't they dump Chapters 16-22?

God damn best rat is the best. Great support, best wingman, always well dressed with that dapper tie. Are other magical sidekicks even trying?

Attached: 0148.png (884x1257, 1.13M)

Mia's power is more versatile and powerful. She most likely can modify her bullet as will unlike other soildiers who are stuck with pre-made rounds.

Yuuno: is actually a human and useless most of the seres
Porun/Mepple/Mipple: pretty much do nothing more than annoy, in the case of Porun. All 3 do nothing during fights
Wombat: LOVE LOVE LOVE
Furanui: HAPPPY HAPPE HAPPY, being as annoying as possible
Paya "Paya-Tan" Livingstone: Former colonel, was beaten into becoming the mascot, is actually helpful, probably still wants to kill his mahou shoujo.
So yes, the snake-eating rat is actually the best mascot

I thought It was 17, since chapter 15-17 are on a seperate archive.

Well you thought wrong, vol5 is the latest official one

Do you know why ch.15-17 are on a seperate archive?

>they don't seem too torn up about Pei Pei vanishing
They most likely know exactly where she is. They just don't care about small-scale crime like the rest of the MG are dealing with. If they want her back on board to save the world (i.e. China), they can just use the loli as leverage.

Because they were typeset by a different guy

Or the author doesn't want chink shills to shitpost about his manga and chinks will never appear in the story again

If that were the case she wouldn't be chinese in the first place.

Fair points. Though the fact that Tamara could be MCed in the first place also implies that they can be ambushed or caught off guard in some way. But yeah, in this case it's more trouble than it's worth to bump her off.

>they don't seem too torn up about Pei Pei vanishing
No military is fine with even randoms deserting, very much doubt they were ok with it, hence the whole image change. Pei Pei stayed low for quite a while, she did need to hide. Also remember that American military commander said that having Pei Pei working with them on a more constant basis would create friction with the Chinese so they'd have to come up with some sort of reasoning sooner or later, although having lolichan under government protection back on the American mainland makes any future messing with her significantly more difficult.

Although also possible China saw her previous status as semi-acceptable: "freelance merc will do anything for money" might mean she did a lot of black jobs for the Chinese too and with even more deniability then before she went off. Like, America has to be careful about Mia for anything involving other countries since everyone knows whatever she's up to is as an agent of the state. Whereas with Brown Pei Pei the Chinese could hire her via an intermediary (or three) at a distance, and she bears no grudge against them. Might not be as good as having her directly working for them, but offers its own advantages and she's not working against them either.

I still can't decide if this is a good manga, but I'm sure as hell enjoying it.

Attached: brrra.png (1280x720, 1.1M)

You are in for a helluva ride user.

Attached: 1551502481333.jpg (1280x720, 99K)

She had an AT rifle during the base assault, I don't really know what to make of her choices.

Maybe she is a tacticool slut.

I would've thought she'd be all over the 416 if that were the case.

Yeah, shotgun really makes the most sense. Her primary role is group medic which is very back bench, the most powerful defense shield, and occasionally applying status effects to major enemies which uses her own magic gear, not any other weapon. So any secondary weapons applied should focus most heavily on anyone who breaches the front and manages to close in, or strikes while she's treating someone. It should either take them out, or at least deflect/slow them down long enough for a front bencher to come back in.

I was thinking a 40mm grenade launcher might be a good fit, something like the XM25, or maybe Howa could make something (Type 96 probably too big for Kurumi's role). That'd give her considerably more area range support. But it wouldn't help if something high speed closed to close range, whereas a shotgun still would. And tactically it's actually probably better if she is semi-ignored as a direct threat, being the heavy shield/medic/status effect person is already enough to attract. Shotgun fits there too, at least amongst conventional weapons.

If the US or Japan could produce some sort of infantry portable version of a sonic or microwave weapon that might be an even better fit though. Doesn't necessarily have to be lethal, at least not quickly, it'd be enough to stagger them before she can hit them with a syringe full of magic neurotoxin or whatever the hell she comes up with.

I wonder if she could come up with magical steroids or whatever, it seems to me like it would help a lot for burst performance.

>Chisato is Nazani's girlfriend
Are we reading the same manga? She belongs to Bureau Mama.

Yeah, ultimately a real problem though is that it has in fact only been 3 years, and they've been busy putting out fires for a lot of that too. There hasn't really been enough time or focused R&D yet on really making the most out of MG or magitech in general, or having the girls just spend a while purely focused on figuring out what they can further do with their powers. This is one of the few series where I'd actually like a timeskip sequel someday, while very unlikely it'll get that far a sequel set 15-20 years later that really thinks hard about how combat and national power/relations would evolve would be fun. Unfortunately I can't think of anywhere that's really done that except one piece of good fanfiction.

They both belong to bureau mama but they can be fuck sisters in their spare time.

Chisato is either straight or asexual after all the abuse too. Nazani is definitely Mama's.

Thing is, they've already developed magical orichalcum rounds, they've partially reverse-engineered Disas creatures, and Kurumi already came up with some kind of super nerve sensitizing agent that oneshots anybody if it gets into their systems (see: Chisato). Considering the MGs are highly concentrated fighting forces used as the tip of the spear, I'm pretty sure the magical armed forces would jump on any way to improve their combat efficiency, or to bring their regular troops up to the level of being able to fight on the same playing field as an MG. Like, Magical Pervitin or something.

Now that I think about it, it could be because of manga morality guidelines; they don't want to promote drug use by the heroes.

How about you wait until she fucks someone.

>they've already developed magical orichalcum rounds
But that's like the most absolute basic beginner level thing to do with magic: take an existing weapon, and just add some extra power to its ammunition. And they're still only just starting to be fielded, most weapons on the battlefield remain conventional. Clearly magic is like learning a whole new physics, it'll take a solid decade or three before it's getting incorporated in entire new previously impossible combat systems and thinking rather then just being an enhancement of existing stuff. For historical reference, we discovered the neutron in 1932, uranium fission in 1938 which led to theorizing about bombs/reactors, the first ultra primitive test reactor (Chicago Pile) was 42, bomb obviously was 45 but on the back of the Manhattan Project, then the first nuclear submarine wasn't until 1955 and the first aircraft carrier was 62.

>they've partially reverse-engineered Disas creatures
Minimally and magical bioweapons are banned by the Spirit Treaty organization (and in turn the UN), and that actually has real teeth because humanity is extremely dependent on that for now.

>Considering the MGs are highly concentrated fighting forces used as the tip of the spear, I'm pretty sure the magical armed forces would jump on any way to improve their combat efficiency, or to bring their regular troops up to the level of being able to fight on the same playing field as an MG.
Sure, I'm just saying it's all too new for now. And the rareness of MG means that there is always the balancing problem of using them to help with R&D could boost them down the line but they're also constantly needed on the ground right now. Maybe as more magic equipment gets deployed and more 2nd generation MGs come into existence the pressure will come off enough to make more progress rather then just throwing them into combat as fast as possible.

Chisato is a dyke getting hard over Miura soft firm fingers.

When is Kurumi gonna get tortured? Despite jobbing all the time she managed to avoid this. Even Nico is less of a jobber than her and she got tortured twice.

Do a Chisato one please, with War Angel administering like in anime canon.

Not only have you linked the wrong post, you have failed at recognizing filename formats.

Ok sorry

DO A CHISATO ONE!!!!

It's not just Chisatofriends, most people think Kurumi is pathetic because she is. Hell, she'd have lost to Nico if Asuka didn't save her ass.

That part was anime only. In the manga, Asuka just slashes Nico's arm immediately after they fall down.

>most people think Kurumi is pathetic
Your projection is adorable.

Yeah, her life basically revolves around her crush.
That's not something healthy, well adjusted people do.

Despite having Karate as a shit tier fighting style she's still looks amazing at her best. She just needs a new fighting style.

Funny Kurumi never has a gun when it would actually be useful.

Pic related.

Attached: 1553690309540.png (589x760, 134K)

Chisato's torture is animeonly too. Maybe the author asked the anime staff to show once more that Kurumi is pathetic and needs to be saved from a middle school girl, but some people still missed it somehow.

>That's not something healthy, well adjusted people do.
You say this as though being fucked up isn't standard for magical girls in that setting. You also say that as though she hadn't already parted from Asuka and gotten on with her own life after the previous war ended.

>being mad because of War Goddess is going to KISS Asuka next chapter
Sad!

Mia seems to be normal enough

>When is Kurumi gonna get tortured?
Probably never, given what a good job she does.

>Despite jobbing all the time she managed to avoid this.
Because she hasn't jobbed retard. She's not a front line combat specialist. Her job is things like, you know, making sure that Asuka actually still has two arms to work with. Or massively boosting Japan's combat potential and ranks by securing them an entire additional magical girl and mercenary, both of whom are suitable for black work since they're criminals. MG have had holes punched in them, massively horrible burns, etc. They didn't just regenerate like a Disas beast, it was Kurumi being there with high speed recovery solution. Hell that applies to civilians too, why after her mindbreak and torture could sports girl return to a normal life (sparing Asuka massive mental trauma)? Why could we see that Pei Pei's loli had in fact started to have her fingers removed and think "well Chisato got there fast enough and can collect the fingers to put on ice so it'll be alright"? Not because of any standard medical technology, it's because Kurumi is there in the background.

How low IQ do anons have to be to think Kurumi of all people is jobber? Sure she's mediocre solo, but she's a foundational element to the organization and modern military victory comes from organization.

No, she did great. She's a nurse who managed to help rescue a hostage and then took an an enemy terrorist magical girl combat specialist and her bioweapons single handedly and managed to delay her enough for reinforcements to arrive, all while avoiding taking critical damage. They would have won completely if not for the interference of another powerful MG. Then she got herself and everyone else fixed up shortly afterwards. How is that not incredible?

But... being fine with mass killing isn't in fact normal user. She's twisted as hell, a hardened shoot-to-kill-always grizzled soldier as like a 16-17 year old. I guess you can say she doesn't seem to depressed about it, but that's still messed up.

>and a more competent magical girl
Who wouldn't be there at all (nor alive for that matter) if not for Kurumi.

>against a random girl
All MGs are strong but have different specialties and compatibilities. Scissors-chan is a combat type. She also had 2 bioweapons backing her up.

>when you're supposed to be one of the strongest around
"Strong" isn't just "rargh hulk smash" speed watcher-kun.

so she's american?

>what chapter should i continue reading the manga after the anime?
It's just different enough that you would want to start from the beginning.

She is fine with killing terrorists, that's perfectly normal.

>The story points out she is a support unit and isn't meant for direct confrontation

Yet always somehow manages to survive and turn the tide of battle in favour of JSDF one way or another, in addition to out-of-battle activities. Kurumi might not be strong, but she is the most useful MS after Asuka. They can do without a Mia or a Chisato, but losing Kurumi would be great detriment.

Perhaps your shonenshit brain should think a little about that.

She's so cute.

Reattaching arms after you get rekt doesn't unmake you a jobber

Attached: war criminal getting its comeuppance.png (854x517, 469K)

You don't understand what a jobber is.

A jobber loses on purpose or should technically be able to win. They lose in order to make the opponent look good or due to plot armour. Dumbass.

Also, Kurumi isn't supposed to win against offense orientated MS. But she either does or survives long enough for Asuka to finish them off. Also, the fight against Abbi was 3v1

Gross. But I guess that's Kurumi for you

Because she's my Texas girl wife

i thought a jobber was someone that should absolutely win , but doesnt due to some contrived bullshit happening

Something like that. The term derives from wrestling I think, when professionals throw a match to fix it.

Not at all jabroni.

Kurumi keeps everyone alive and in one piece. She extracts critical information from prisoners. She recruits magical-capable assets for the team. She also brought Asuka back.

Honestly, even if she didn't involve herself in fighting at all, she would still be a critical asset for the team. Fighting is a plus, and she plays support very well.

>Hell, she'd have lost to Nico if Asuka didn't save her ass.
>That part was anime only. In the manga, Asuka just slashes Nico's arm immediately after they fall down.
Also in both the manga and the anime Nico fires a bunch of her super fireballs at them as they fall, when they're trivial targets. It's not Asuka who makes sure they get through that completely unscathed. They're a team.

>Honestly, even if she didn't involve herself in fighting at all, she would still be a critical asset for the team. Fighting is a plus, and she plays support very well.
Right, like if literally she just sat back at base like normal medical support and took that role and as an intelligence asset, she'd still be critical. Being a field/combat medic/status effect mage/heavy defense provider on top is just icing on the cake.

Murcielago has the cutest chibis

You mean kill herself, finally.

next chapter when?

Attached: Tamara in 20 years.jpg (677x957, 110K)

Yeah it's from pro wrestling, and originally it's actually even somewhat more innocent then what you're going with because pro wrestling is all fiction and fake. "Doing one's job" was part of the actual script and performance. Wrestlers who routinely (or even exclusively, some specialized in it) lost matchers were "jobbers". Good jobbers made it exciting before they lost. Obviously in modern times the use has spread and gotten a lot more negative. But it's basically "losing to make the other guy look good" and just like pro wrestling it applies well as a term in any other fiction since it's all author fiat, though it's purely negative there since it breaks suspension of disbelief if the events portrayed are supposed to be realistic.

It definitely doesn't apply though if someone just fucking loses because they're outmatched. Like if some newb feather weight wrestler was forced by threats to participate in a super heavy weight match and got destroyed they wouldn't be jobbing duh, that's just losing.

new chapters when, i swear to christ

on the other hand it means murcielago can get away with shit that'd never fly in an anime so works out there. maybe an ova could show more but good luck.

official chapters dont get upped to MD

There are more places to get manga then there though. And if official scans have flat out passed ded scanlators don't expect anyone to pick it up ever unless the official did an unusually horrible job, stalls out itself, or something else to grind someone's gears (I loath the capeshit translation style for example).

>Like if some newb feather weight wrestler was forced by threats to participate in a super heavy weight match and got destroyed they wouldn't be jobbing duh, that's just losing.
user, that's how jobbers are actually used. You throw some geek at a threat, they get destroyed by said threat. The threat shows off the level of violence it can inflict and the cruelty it is capable of by brutalizing said geek. Local jobbers tend to look as shitty as possible, in order to make the threat look even better by comparison.

Non wrestlingfags conflate the term with the Star Trek fandom term of getting Worf'd, which is where a character sold as powerful gets the shit kicked out of them to establish how hardcore a threat is. It's more "If the threat is strong enough to take out [insert character] what chance do we have?"

t. wrestlefag

Chink needs to be tortured too for killing people for money.

He has a huge hard on for action movies and everything 80s and 90s related stuff so he's pretty based.

>user, that's how jobbers are actually used
Oh, you're making a distinction between that and carpenters? You can I guess, but I don't think that's a distinction that exists in general usage today. "Jobbing" has spread and most people using it probably have never seen a pro wrestling match in their lives.
>The threat shows off the level of violence it can inflict and the cruelty it is capable of by brutalizing said geek. Local jobbers tend to look as shitty as possible, in order to make the threat look even better by comparison.
But again even here in your example the point is that it's not real. It's to show something off. In my example I didn't mean pro wrestling, I meant actual genuinely competitive wrestling, like Greco-Roman or even freestyle or MMA. No show, but two men genuinely trying their hardest to win. The guys who get bronze or silver at the olympics aren't fucking jobbing to the gold medalist.

Kurumi (or any of the others) aren't fighting a staged match they're fighting win-or-death. It's more like Taffy 3 vs Kurita's force in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, when Gambier Bay was engaged by Yamato amongst others. GB sinking wasn't "jobbing", it was a 7900 ton light escort carrier vs a 70600 ton battleship and huge additional fleet. They did their best, so incredibly that they managed to cause an overwhelmingly superior foe to turn back thinking it was facing the main force. Gambier Bay was sunk along with a couple of other destroyers if I remember right, but compared to what might have been it was an incredible performance.

She didn't kill the WRONG people for money so welcome to realpolitik.

And tacticool stuff
>Mia C-clamping her rifle, all dat center axis relock and shooting from prone

Off topic question do female contractors soldiers exists besides US Army and other forces around the world. Does Blackwater have the best waifu soldiers than the Turkish females.

This is a manga. It isn't real either. It is fiction made to tell a story. Everything in it is as staged as pro wrestling is, which is why the term "jobber" works.

In the metafictional sense, mooks getting slaughtered or Kurumi being dismembered serves the same purpose as Local Indy Geek getting fed to Big Monster Guy; it establishes stakes and adds tension. And your real life example is glorifying the exact opposite narrative concept, the underdog win. Which is set up metafictionally by having a threat beat on a bunch of other guys in order to make them seem more threatening. The people who go down for that are doing the job. The people who do it consistently are jobbers, and Kurumi tends to serve that role.

>Clearly magic is like learning a whole new physics, it'll take a solid decade or three before it's getting incorporated in entire new previously impossible combat systems and thinking rather then just being an enhancement of existing stuff.
Magic performance enhancement is pretty basic stuff too, though. Even the mercenary during the Nazani arc used magical steroids to turn himself into a hybrid beast(Tamara still fried him, though), and the kickboxer Chisato fought in her gaiden chapter had Disas muscle grafts too. Permanent performance enhancement has already been done, so why haven't they moved on to temporary boosts with no side effects yet? One would think giving conventional troops the ability to briefly bulk up to magical combatant levels would be useful in an age where magical concealment and tools allow an individual to do damage completely out of proportion to their numbers.

Plus, didn't Russia already reverse-engineer Disas brains or whatnot into the Tamara's mind control system? Like yeah, it's a black project but if they can already interface with the human brain and affect abstract concepts such as thought and memory (even War Nurse can do targeted 1 week mindwipes) with direct physical enhancement, it shows they have the precision needed to move on to working with magic-boosted amphetamines and the like.

>"How do you feel about killing human beings?"
>"I wouldn't know, I've only ever killed terrorists and Disas."

Contractors are basically glorified rentacops or IT dweebs. 99% of them are former OIF/OEF vets, and all of them are men.

Wasn't there an article somewhere about female chink bodyguards for businessmen and politicians who were trained up to male standards? It might not be the same thing, though.

>Kurumi tends to serve that role
Not that user but jobbers in the context of fiction are characters what are supposed to be good fighters but end up getting their ass handed to them anyway. Kurumi is not supposed to be a good fighter. Her role on the field is support and medic. So there's no way she can be considered a jobber. She's just not a fighting specialist, by definition.

Female kurds are pretty interesting and make good fighters. Someone needs to make a manga but overall there's 10% female contracts who are soldiers who have little experience in combat.

I don't know about that, but Gaddafi had a squad of woman bodyguards.

>Gaddafi had a squad of woman bodyguards
Interesting.

Halloween-classes are pretty strong, right? And she managed to take an enhanced model out by herself in close combat despite not having any weapons besides her giga syringe? I'd say that's not bad for someone who's not a primary combatant. IIRC Halloween-classes were soaking up tank cannon fire during the Naha base invasion.

Yeah, he did, but they ditched him during the revolution.

>Yeah, he did, but they ditched him during the revolution.

He probably told them to disperse to make sure they wouldn't get caught or killed.

>Halloween-classes are pretty strong, right? And she managed to take an enhanced model out by herself in close combat despite not having any weapons besides her giga syringe? I'd say that's not bad for someone who's not a primary combatant.
Sure, but the fact is she's primarily the medic of the group. Beating the medic doesn't make the medic a jobber. It just means she's a fucking medic rather than a fighter.

I think I may have been misunderstood. I meant that she ought to be praised for taking out the Halloween-class rather than being called a jobber.

Collaborators have typically suffered nasty fates, yes.

Goddamn I want to fuck that rat.

>This is a manga. It isn't real either. It is fiction made to tell a story.
Oh come on, this is Lit 101 stuff. Whhat makes fiction immersive or "realistic" is that it maintains internal consistency. It may have different laws of physics or whatever, but within the story they should still actually be laws. If the author just forgets about them or decide to arbitrarily ignore them with no justification then it'll end up as shitty fiction. The ideal fiction would be like you had an actual window into another arbitrary universe and were just making a video of what really happened. We can't do that of course, but good authors still try to maintain internal self consistency.

Kurumi is not supposed to be a good fighter by magical girl standards, she's a specialist in another field. This hardly uncommon or weird even IRL, a huge part of any real army are support staff and such who only have very minimal combat training. They may be called upon in an emergency to fight anyway, but taking large losses is expected, not jobbing.

I wanna fuck General Tabira

>Halloween-classes are pretty strong, right?
By regular human standards yeah, but they're only mid-tier by Disas standards. Zmey for example was 5x the magic, and in comparison to it they referenced other higher level Disas that we haven't seen in actual combat yet.

>And she managed to take an enhanced model out by herself in close combat despite not having any weapons besides her giga syringe?
The fuck user? The very fucking beginning, what gets Asuka back into it in the first place is that she tries to solo one and nearly gets killed. She adapts and improves a bit but that's it. And Halloween are no match at all solo for an actual combat oriented magical girl, which again Asuka demonstrates right off the bat. Did you only read the first chapter?

Gaddaffi had honor and seen female soldiers getting raped and killed in battlefields horribly.

What's your problem, man? I'm just saying that Kurumi isn't a jobber and is actually quite competent because she can hold her own against an enhanced Halloween-class.

Samefag as . To be clear user I'm sorry if I come across as too insulting, but seriously they really explicitly got across Kurumi's strengths and weaknesses in the second chapter. It wasn't some subtext either it was spelled right out. She's one of the magical 5 since she helped save the world and has very strong magic, but the way that magic expresses itself isn't pure combat power like the others. Like, in terms of raw power output a 747 is very high. But it won't win against an F-16 in a fight. I'm just confused this is even a matter of debate when the foundation was set at the start as the second MG we see.

Attached: x33.png (1241x1800, 839K)

Honestly, without Kurumi there wouldn't even be a magical team at all. Most of the "legendary" five would be dead or crippled. That's Kurumi's role and she's more than competent at it. On top of that she can extract information from pretty much anyone, normal or magical, human or disa. And besides being able to heal physical injuries she can also heal mental trauma as well.

If on top of that she was also a strong fighter she would be way too broken. She already has too many skills as is.

>because she can hold her own against an enhanced Halloween-class
??

Attached: x49.png (1235x1800, 1.1M)

>I'm just saying that Kurumi isn't a jobber
>The people who do it consistently are jobbers, and Kurumi tends to serve that role.
You genuinely have me really fucking confused now user.

Fair enough. Actually, that makes me wonder about a few things; I know Peipei and Asuka are supposed to be close combat specialists, Kurumi is a defensive/support type, Tamara is a ranged / area attacker, but what about Mia? She's said to be an expert in magical MOUT, but she's always seen using firearms and ranged weapons, not melee like, oh, Asuka or Peipei, which would be better in close quarters. That said, she's still pretty competent in close combat, just that she isn't shown using it much.

For that matter, I wonder what the other members of the 1st-gen Magical Girls did. IIRC there was one of them who could charge at Mach 2 on her magic bike or something, so I wonder what that Estrella girl did, spread magic zikavirus or something?

Probably because I'm not the same guy as him.

>but what about Mia?
Her magic specialties are some sort of thermoptic clairvoyance and adding power to rounds she fires, where "adding power" means enough to make a 5.56mm round punch trivially through an armored assault helecopter or multiple brick/concrete walls or whatever like a high energy particle beam. She can see precisely long distances in both optical and heat without any extra aid, and since she can manifest a gun herself as her own magic weapon and its ammo she's impossible to disarm as long as she still has any remaining magic. So at her best she's a point fire role that can cover both medium and very long sniping ranges but with the rapid fire of a machine gun.

>That said, she's still pretty competent in close combat, just that she isn't shown using it much.
Both she and Tamara have that as a fallback. Just like actual real world spec ops I guess, presumably the USA and Russia have offered them whatever military survivability training they could. Mia of course can't always create distance, even if she isn't facing special h4x like that anti-magic iron man.

>For that matter, I wonder what the other members of the 1st-gen Magical Girls did. IIRC there was one of them who could charge at Mach 2 on her magic bike or something
No info. Wouldn't be surprising if at least one of them was a sensor type though, maybe that one with the bats or whatever it was. That's role they're now missing. The dragoon girl was I think the former leader, from France? Might be empress now.

Attached: 17.png (900x1280, 355K)

Now that you mention it, Mia reminds me of the movie Eraser; she has X-ray vision AND the ability to shoot straight through walls, tables, bulletproof vests, etc.

I'll add that one thing that's interesting so far is their super moves are all over the place, always related to something they do somehow but sometimes it's really indirect and odd. Asuka's and Mia's are both pretty straight forward, Asuka powering up her main weapon into a sword and being able to throw it for ultra high cutting power. Mia's is just a plain old big fucking gun shot, I know some anons were hoping it'd be a multiple artillery strike or something more wild but I guess it fits her.

Kurumi's is a little more to the side of her main specialty, where it's an aspect of her shield powers not her healing. Before seeing it I'd sort of wondered if it'd be some sort of ultimate healing move instead, like another magical girl getting beheaded but Kurumi gets to the head within a minute and completely regenerates the entire body from scratch in a few seconds or something like that.

Tamara and Pei Pei are the most different. Tamara is short/mid range AOE, her russian gun, and a CQC form, but her super is a highly focused quantized heat ray. It's heat related but offers a wildly different engagement profile then normal. And Pei Pei is pretty pure CQC with some range from chain, but her move is to create twin tornados.

Wonder if they have/will ever gain any others.

Not gonna lie, I would burn Francine at my enormous stake.

As mentioned earlier, Mia reminds me of a railgun more than an artillery barrage. So it kind of makes sense that Just Cause Siege Ballista is a single high-power shot. Plus, you usually pull out super moves against boss monsters so it makes sense to optimize them for taking out single hard targets. I forgot what Peipei's move was, though.

Oh, nice idea. May just be coincidence but wouldn't surprise me if the author had seen it either. I've heard for Japanese military otaku a bit of westaboo watching of American action flicks isn't uncommon, we're the global gun country after all. Parodies and little homages happen once in a while and are fun.

>they've already lost 3 by that point
Ouch. If one of those 3 was their sensor maybe that might have resulted in increased attrition and being caught more by surprise in further fights like that one.

Speaking of sensors, Sacchuu kind of fills that role, but he's the only mascot we see on the protagonist's side. Are they rare or something?

There could be many spread across different organizations but he's probably tasked with supporting the legendary five since he's the best of the best.

Attached: 015.png (1131x1600, 973K)

They need a faggy twink to be the lead.

Sacchuu is honestly my favorite character of the cast.

Not that it's been spelled out, but their super moves are probably completely involuntary, something generated by their subconscious or soul or whatever aspect of themselves does the spirit synchronization. I don't think they get to optimize unfortunately for them, some of them might have lucked out more than others, and just have to work with it.
>Plus, you usually pull out super moves against boss monsters so it makes sense to optimize them for taking out single hard targets.
Problem is that Asuka's finisher is apparently vastly stronger in single target raw physical assault power, Mia's is strong and has more range but is still more "siege" as it says on the label, higher area and explosive effect than Asuka.

Anyway, not saying it doesn't fit quite the contrary. Gun not enough USE BIGGER GUN fits Magical America great. There is some coolness though that comes from one of them having a real curve ball that forces them to strategize more, like if she had some sort of magical MML or arty strike with a slower spinup and minimum firing distance of a mile or whatever, but could reach out 10 or 15 miles and devastate an area. Precisely because it wouldn't fit her normal engage it'd create some drama. By the same token I think a super healer move would have been cool for Kurumi, like the entire group having a single use 1-UP that also means sacrificing healing for a bit (since it wipes out her magic).

That's all just from a selfish reader perspective though.

There are more artificial support fairies, Sacchuu is just the greatest is all. There are also enemy Disas ones.

It is curious though that support magical girls seem to be pretty rare so far. Kurumi is the only one we see alive, all the others are direct combat types of one kind or another. Maybe some of the other magical 11 were and didn't make it. They could be big force multipliers, even ones that were far weaker then Kurumi herself and would be more dangerous to risk even that close to the action.

Great taste, best rat is greatest mascot.

Attached: r2.png (884x1257, 856K)

If anything, the fact that support types are weaker at direct combat and serve as a force multiplier means that they'd make sense to be priority targets. Kind of like blowing up your enemy's supply trucks even if they can't fight, because the tanks won't run without fuel or stores.

True.

mia is a counterstrike hacker

Mia getting bully hunter'd when?

Sure, but they must also just plain have a lower probability of coming into being or there'd be more. It's not clear what exactly goes into how girls turn out, if it's something in their subconscious image of itself maybe it's just most girls who envision "fighting the enemy" naturally just envision how they themselves would fight. Maybe it's less usual to have someone like Kurumi whose self image was highly negative AND at the same time highly positive towards someone else, so her core vision of "fighting" is "supporting someone else [Asuka] doing the fighting" rather then "myself fighting".

Now that I think about it, this series could make a pretty fun tactical shooter game, in the vein of Rainbow 6.
>good guy magical girls vs bad guy magical girls

In that vein, I'm thinking that a lot of magical girls probably grew up watching magical girl anime where every girl is the hero of their own story, and that would probably shape the expression of their abilities so it would take a special set of circumstances to make someone a support-type MG. Like, we got to see kid Asuka holding a toy wand and saying she wanted to be a MG who defeated bad guys. Probably what made her a fighter type.

>Mia has entered the match!

filthy burgers

The issue is that the CQC is central to a lot the fights and it's the hybrid that makes it most interesting. I'm not sure how to translate into a vidya. Some sort of DMC gameplay? A hybrid of a 3D fighter/beat'em up and an FPS or TPS, where it automatically switches between modes when you move to a melee magical weapon or fists? The latter seems like it could be fucking awesome, but also a niche and autist as hell game that could never get funded. I mean, merging even a DOA or God Hand type system with also a full FPS as a magical girl? Madness though I'd buy it instantly.

Or maybe a more arcadey hero shooter thing, with a combination of a deep melee combat system with various combos or magical "items" for temporary buffs mashed up with an FPS element, with fast TTK against humans but a more teamwork oriented section against disas monsters and enemy MGs where you have to use each role in your team to chip away at their health.

Another option would just plain be to put the player into a supporting role. You're a magically equipped regular soldier like MORG/M-Squad tasked with supporting the magical girls or doing side duties. So you've got important tasks but meanwhile they're engaging and ripping apart the environment around you, total chaos, or else you're trying to snipe in from the area while dealing with enemy support (including up to tanks or lesser Disas beasts and the like).

Might be too much of an ask commercially, most players probably want to be "a main character" not a soldier amidst a clash of demigods. I think it could be kind of interesting though, and it'd deal with the gameplay question.

also now that I re-read the opening, per discussion earlier in the thread:
I'd completely forgotten that Mia did in fact equip something bigger that one time for the final boss. Not sure exactly what it is, but looks like some sort of 40mm or similar launcher. So we've mainly see her wielding her rifle, this user recognized it right off as 5.56, but she can definitely equip more if she thinks it'll fit the mission profile. Her standard rifle loadout must therefore be because it's a better fit with what she's normally up to. Maybe when all 5 are together she can afford to specialize more on much heavier mid/long fire power since she's assured of having very powerful close range and area support.

>Permanent performance enhancement has already been done

If you think about it you can see how retarded that is. Its like asking since the US already has ship based railguns why are their soldiers not already totting rail assault guns around.

>a jobber is someone who consistently loses period
No, you're a retard.

>Her CIA handlers/partners use ARX-160's which are also 5.56x45mm rifles, and its the standard NATO cartridge, so its almost universally available wherever Mia operates.
We've seen her materialize her gun from her transformation amulet, just like the other girls with their weapons. Wonder if that comes with ammo too, or if it's just the gun itself is magical (never breaks/misfires, impervious to any environmental stuff, barrel has unlimited usage say) but still needs to be loaded with external ammo. Or maybe she can materialize ammo but it saves a ton of magic to use standard and then boost it. There is that little talk of physics and mass/energy conversion. If it's at all useful to be supplied though then yeah, having her squad have extra compatible on hand by default would be smart.

Ah nice, looks like the same model too. Do you remember if we see it created?

Also a fan of edgy western comics writers like Garth Ennis and Mark Millar.

>Wonder if that comes with ammo too, or if it's just the gun itself is magical (never breaks/misfires, impervious to any environmental stuff, barrel has unlimited usage say) but still needs to be loaded with external ammo
She worries about running out of ammo for her rifle in the manga. Then again, when she does conjure her rifle, it always comes with a magazine already inserted.

>jobber
>A professional wrestler who frequently and deliberately loses matches.
deal with it retard

>DELIBERATELY
holy shit you can't even read your own fucking words

Kurumi's not a wrestler, retard. She's a nurse. Why would a nurse need to win fights, brainlet?

It probably takes some magic to make ammo-- like it mentioned in the manga, most magical girls carry guns and use them as a first-resort in order to conserve magical power
It probably helps to come prepared with a combat load of ammo, so Mia can use more magic to increase the bullet's impact, rather than on conjuring more ammunition
What bothers me more is that we seldom see any of the girls using any kind of optical sights, even on their 416s

Attached: 1553929174990.jpg (1536x2048, 1.45M)

Mia does use optics a lot in the manga.
For example, during this Ukraine arc she's got an EOtech holographic sight, and way back in the early parts of the manga she uses one of those chinesium open sight red dots from walmart.
Maybe someone told the author that real soldiers don't use that kind of sight.

>She worries about running out of ammo for her rifle in the manga. Then again, when she does conjure her rifle, it always comes with a magazine already inserted.
Maybe then it's just that generating matter with magic is enormously energy intensive. I mean, obviously IRL it's impossibly energy intensive, E=mc^2 and all that, and the MG are already explicitly stated as being incredible in their whole transformation even. But thinking about it Kurumi obviously is making everything from scratch in her syringe, but she can run out of resource generation capacity too. Tamara has to generate her fuel and doesn't seem to be able to use it forever. Asuka and Peipei might be more efficient as a tradeoff for little to no range. Mia's rifle comes with something as part of its conjuration but maybe even if she could conjure more ammo outside of the initial transform template it'd exhaust her, and be a waste of magic that could be boosting ammo instead.

Yeah, the manga does have them with some actual gucci gear on their weapons
I like that manga Asuka uses FiveseveNs, I'm not really sure why but they feel like something that would pair well with magical bullets-- things like its flush high-capacity magazines and the higher armour piercing potential are probably good complements to magically augmented rounds that don't have to play by the same physics rules as regular bullets

Attached: 1553459848617.jpg (2315x3274, 2.42M)

>What bothers me more is that we seldom see any of the girls using any kind of optical sights, even on their 416s
For Mia at least this is unnecessary, it's been specifically covered that one of her two core powers is optical/thermal clairvoyance. Not sure what the range is but it's pretty far. And given her connection to her rifle as her own magical instrument perhaps she just sort of has a good sense of where it's aimed regardless.

For the other girls though dunno. Maybe they just ultimately don't think too much about it because the guns are purely secondary weapons.

>Maybe someone told the author that real soldiers don't use that kind of sight.
Reading over the first volume again I think Makoto/Seigo have refined some designs and mechanics a bit over time, some details seem better researched and done now. Always nice to see authors working to self improve even in the middle of a series.

Bottleneck cartridge chambered handguns would probably help enhance the penetration factor of magic bullets.
They have a military advisor, right? It seems to show.

>Yeah, the manga does have them with some actual gucci gear on their weapons
If it's just a manga vs anime difference the answer is probably simply budget. Anime cheaps out on details all the time.

That's a cool idea I hadn't thought of at all.

fucking lol even magical girls can't evade MYSQL CONNECTION FAILURE

The girls using actual plate carriers with magazine pouches in recent chapters is a great touch.

>silenced FiveseveN
I mean, I guess magical bullets can make up for the low weight and velocity loss, but wew
Cute Ayylium
Yeah, might just be a budget thing. It looks like the manga guns are traced over from 3d models, so I guess that might help with some of the details, even if its just to cut corners

Suppressors can help the user acquire and put rounds on target in confined areas far better than suppressed guns can. The concussive blast of an unsuppressed gun can be quite disorientating, especially if you don't have a lot of active hearing protection.
At least, that's the justification for the US armed forces as they try to make suppressors a more widely available tool for the infantry.

"Listen kid, I'm not gonna bullshit you, all right? I don't give a good fuck what you know, or don't know, but I'm gonna torture you anyway, regardless. Not to get information, it's amusing to me, to torture a magical girl. You can say anything you want because I heard it all before. All you can do is pray for a quick death, which you ain't gonna get."

Attached: Kurumi tortures a cripple.webm (800x450, 2.77M)

Yeah, with the whole "we've outfitted a whole battalion with supressors" trial
I can see it making sense for ARs, but for the FiveseveN it might just be a little bit too contradictory-- but that's with conventional rounds.
Magical bullets are a whole different ballgame, as are magical suppressors, if they exist

Holy fuck how does Kurumi keep herself from ravaging Asuka's big ass?

Attached: Annotation 2019-02-17 005642.jpg (339x515, 58K)

I know, right?
No wonder so many girls are gay for Asuka.

Never underestimate the discipline military training teaches you,

She doesn't
She just uses her magic to make Asuka forget
That way, its like taking Asuka's anal virginity for the first time, every time

If the author really wanted to add some pure cool while still using real guns how about equipping some people with magic round using maxim 9s? Those damn things look straight out of an anime already, though a friend got to try one and said it was actually pretty nice to use. Though I guess NATO was trying to move to from 9mm to either 5.7x28 or that HK 4.6x30 all the way back in 2003.

Kurumi almost definitely shlicks in her hotel room to the thought of burying her face in ASSuka's ass crack.

She doesn't use magic and just holds herself back while subtly expressing her feelings because she's a true romantic!

Does Asuka have figurines?
I would kill for a Little Armory line of Asuka related stuff

>sacchuu_wants_shochu.png

The Maxim 9 is still sorta new and obscure.
I think its only appearance is in the last Ghost Recon game.

Maxim 9s are really a little too new, I think
Military guns tend to be slow when it comes to new adoptions and updates, so having all of the girls still run around with 416s, FiveseveNs and newer M1911s makes since as they've all at least been adopted in some scale of military use.
The thing that will really date media with guns in it, in my opinion, is the use of electronic sights. Especially as pistols are starting to tend towards red dot sights, I think it will only be a short matter of time before literally all near-future Sci-fi firearms seem prematurely obsolete by still using just irons

You wish. So do I.

Yeah, besides obscurity it's also almost unrealistic despite being real. If I saw it in a realistic manga and hadn't actually seen a real one can't shake the feeling I'd think "that's a cool scifi thing the author came up with but it doesn't fit at all!" Also just plain the wrong cartridge.

You're right also that the military will be rightly conservative about finding out how tough and reliable anything new is for dirty field work. Mia's magic guns don't have to deal with it but everyone else still has to worry about all the regular issues, even with magic bullets.

At least series like this one can avoid that by being branched off timelines rather then the future, so they avoid future shock a bit by being "alternate present" instead (and there is the reasonable excuse that the war might cause different R&D and procurement decisions to get made by the world's armies over time).

A consequence of all those WcDonald visits

I'm digging this manga, it's like the modern-day Valkyria Chronicles I always wanted

Asuka game made by Sega or Bamco when?

Platinum, a Revengeance style game
youtube.com/watch?v=N3472Q6kvg0

What makes me grin every time is how Nazani's magic wand sports a reflex sight.

ya gotta aim those fireballs somehow
Side note, I can't believe that Chisato and Armenian Nico became my favorite characters
They're at least tied with Mia, if not with Asuka and Kurumi

I'll like something like Dragon's Dogma, the question is how comprehensive does the melee have to be though?

They're very sympathetic characters, I hope they get happy ends.

I've considered something open worldish like DDDA or AC, as for combat system, either of those or monhun will work fine, then again I've never exactly been too fond of complex melee systems. But I've liked being able to call in support stuff to assist you, like you can call in a spec ops team to provide suppressing fire, AC-130s to hammer larger enemies, maybe in more open battlefields you need to pin large monsters down while guiding in a cruise missile strike.

For general gameplay I imagine that you would be roaming around the city and its surroundings and other than story missions, you'll spend the rest of the game dealing with pop up threats, helping R&D, finding girlfriends.

Enemies will include standard mooks cannon fodders, elite spec ops who will use tactics against you, like keeping you suppressed while their melee specialists hit you from the sides, I did like the suppression mechanics in BF and GRFS. Or maybe you might be engaged in melee but you'll get sniped, means you want to watch your defense levels and disengage if you get too low rather than just pressing the attack.

For larger monsters, since mankind has been adapting magical ammo to their weapons, so too has the enemy, like a set of secondary eyes and acid boils on the back, which work together as a sort of biological APS.

Then you have hostile MGs or MG-likes. Where their combat types will range from either those who zip around fast, whether melee or range, those who snipe you from afar, and perhaps those who get into a brawl with you, solo MG fights should be cheesable, like just kiting a slow moving tank for example, which is why most fights should be against MG combined arms groups, covering each other.

Of course there will also be bosses who are good enough to cover or ameliorate their own weaknesses and most deadly of all, those who are not too proud who while being just that good, also come with a team to engage you.

You should be able to have Combat Sacchuu as a summon. He automatically kills all minor opponents around you so you can focus on other shit.

I'm thinking the ending would be where you pissed off the big bad so much she comes right after you, while you're in the middle of a CVBG.

What the BB wants to do is get inside and kill everyone, the whole inside of the carrier will be modeled so you get to chase her through the corridors and try to stop her. Or you can try keeping her on the deck, where the carriers defenses and its escorts can provide some measure of firepower, like staggering her for a second so a nearby railgun equipped destroyer can take a shot, but she will then go after the rest of the fleet too so you need to chase her. Mission fail will be the carrier sunk and many of the people you care about dead. Good end 1 will be killing her as she tries to escape, you then get an epilogue mission to wreck her final base. Good end 2 will be her escaping but the fleet is relatively intact, how intact the fleet is will determine what support you have as you assault her final base. Bad end will be she wrecked the fleet enough that you cannot assault her base in time, in consequence she goes to ground and cannot be found, thereby starting things all over again, except your forces just got wrecked, so does hers for that matter. We can call that NG- or something. Or maybe do it like XCOM2.

And Survivor of the Great War Master Sacchu will kill all the major opponents.

This dog is a cute onahole. But kurumi doesn’t have a wang to use it.

All the characters in this manga are so fucking good.

I could see something like a Razing Storm-style light gun game or even an action platformer in the vein of Ratchet and Clank or Metal Arms. A Gunslinger Stratos-like TPS arena fighter could work too.

Kurumifags need to be put down, just like their waifu

Without Kurumi there would be no doggo, so she should be protected at all cost.

Kurumi is best girl. Hatefags should just die

is this combat or sex?

Kurumi is a fucking glow-in-the-dark CIA black ops nigger

yes

>using rasslin terms outside of rasslin
>to describe someone that is always doomed to fail
>still insists on the word's key facts that can only be defined in a FAKE sport
not only are you the world's most retarded troll ever, you're also the most autistic one too
please kill yourself, you stupid piece of shit

Kurumi is too based.

Go away, faggot.

Russian sex is like combat.

In fiction, the term jobber is used when a character loses a fight to show off how strong the enemy was and thus a credible threat. For this to work, the character losing has to be established as strong because kicking a puppy or beating a medic won't make the enemy look more threatening. That's why Kurumi can't possible be considered a jobber. She has been established by design as the medic, the non-combatant. Beating the non-combatant won't make any enemy look threatening.

>GunZ
RIP

>only the villains have had sex so far
What did they mean by this?

Bad girls have more fun.

She is a cute onahole. What’s her name?

Nurse and her cute military onahole made of Female PoW.

Proper magical girls of justice wait until the time is right we don't know what Pei Pei has been getting up to though.

Dog

She is a magical girl of money after all.

She' a chink, she wouldn't know justice if it raped her ass.

Isn't she diddling her adopted daughter?

Yes.

>>to describe someone that is always doomed to fail
>when a character loses a fight
The other thing is that Kurumi didn't lose. The win conditions in a military battle aren't "every single combatant 1v1s successfully against everyone else" it's "which side completes its objectives and stands in the end" and often "not losing" is a victory all by itself. So at the start of the scissor-chan fight:
>BB: 1x disguised MG, 2x experience magic mercs, 1x support spirit, 2x halloween+ class, and they hold a hostage.
>JSDF: 1x rusty combat MG, 1x medic, 1x GREATEST MASCOT, friendly territory so reinforcements can be counted on eventually.
Since they had best rat on their side gobu getting his shit kicked in is a given. But that's still uphill odds.

Result: hostage rescued, 2x magic mercs killed, useful magic weapon acquired from them for future use, 2x bioweapons destroyed, enemy magic girl revealed and damaged, new magitech gets field test. Zero losses on JSDF side. It wasn't a total victory since the enemy boss intervened and saved Abigail, but it was still pretty clearly JSDF's win.

So people get it backwards: Kurumi didn't look weak, she looked stronger. Chap 2 established her character as her getting messed up almost instantly from a single Halloween+. This time she is key to saving the hostage, healing the hostage, kills one, and delays until reinforcements.

My dad works at M Squad and he told me that Asuka will apologize and kiss Kurumi next chapter

man these have been fun threads with you anons, niche series most people don't like on Yea Forums can be comfy sometimes

How did Kurumi created a cute Onahole from a magical girl?

But she is a Cute Onahole now.

Anything is possible with enough sexual torture.

>magical roofies

Bork Bork

I wish we had a bigger sample of 2nd gen MG so we could get a better idea of what the mix of powers is like and contrast it. Support seems rare, but wonder if even range is somewhat rare too. So far we've seen scissors, whiplash, and that french one, and all of them are melee. If generating resources takes ton of magic, maybe "consumable" based combat is actually another sign of a more powerful MG. Not that a sample size of 3 out of hundreds is very helpful.

based and tentaclepilled

You're quite right, but I am surprised it's not popular.

There's also MAI QUEEN but her power is largely unknown. It seems to be a barrier type or something similar.

Francine?

>There's also MAI QUEEN but her power is largely unknown. It seems to be a barrier type or something similar.
While it's only supposition, pretty much every expects her to be 1st gen (or at least based on one, 1st gen possessed/altered by something maybe or who knows). Not that the author couldn't throw a curve ball of course, but Asuka's "she seems familiar" points to something anyway.

If that's who you think she is then yep.
It's been 10 volumes and still no hint or foreshadowing about her identity. Guess the author really wants to hide it. I just hope that he won't blow that by dropping her real name outa nowhere.

Or maybe Tamara wanted to join the UN because she doesn't know it sucks

>Or maybe Tamara wanted to join the UN because she doesn't know it sucks
Given the contrast with Russia it's actually pretty good. The UN doesn't suck so much as it doesn't do much of anything from a military point of view. If she worked for them then she'd be automatically pretty removed from politics, the very rare times when the security council all agree are by definition fairly uncontroversial amongst the big powers, in their world it'd be stuff like magic terrorism or another invasion, which Tamara is fine with fighting. She wouldn't be doing bad shit for the Russian kleptocracy, but she also wouldn't be working against it either because Russia gets a veto. And if Russia was attacked by terrorists/Disas she'd still be helping.

Wouldn't make sense for most people sure, but seems logical from the position she's at if she doesn't actually flat out want to defect to America or something but merely doesn't want to be killing civilians.

I'd say that's the only worthwhile aspect of Yea Forums, having comfy threads like with Toji or Pripri.

Attached: 1488564187311.png (608x720, 584K)

>It's been 10 volumes and still no hint or foreshadowing about her
She knows that original 11's motto and seems to recognize all of the surviving magical 5. Considering Asuka recognized her, it's certain that she is someone tied to their past. Francine seems to be the most obvious one since it's the only dead girl that has been shown (outside of just brief appearances like Estrella)

Well hopefully now that the 5 are together again the author will get back to the main plot
