Back when I wasn’t used to being a mangaka, I daydreamed about the anime ufotable made. Them making an anime of one of my own works was nothing but a dream.

I don't think it's ending, how could this possibly be a fulfilling arc if it was the end? We're already struggling with Akaza and Douma. If Kokushibou and Muzan are also getting taken out without regrouping, I think everyone will be disappointed. Besides multiple unresolved character arcs. Wani's editor has to be telling her to take her time.

That said, I think you could see this as the final arc of Kimetsu in the way you could argue Gintama began its final arc when Utsuro was introduced. I don't think the definition of arc is the same thing to everyone.

A cover page had a blurb that was vague enough to be translated as either final or decisive battle. That's it. That's the only "evidence"

I don't think this is the end. and now tanjirou is kind of out of battle. it would be strange to end the story without tanjirou facing muzan or kokushibou. I think the rumor started with mistranslation from Chinese spoil and a screenshot from tv. but there's no official announcement on the magazine.

I think it's just general assumptions every Jump series is going to be cancelled at any moment and everything is used as proof. If it were actually ending, I think it would be explicit. Especially with the anime.

Everyone got thrown into the same place, there's only a handful of bad guys left, most of the character storylines feel like they're moving toward being resolved. I don't know that it seems likely to end now, with everyone getting beat up, but I remember in the red light district arc people kept assuming Tanjiro was too fucked up to fight and he kept going.

I just mean that I don't want the gaidens to just be a Shinobu story next because she's the most popular character. She's popular because she's already had her entire story told from beginning to end. I'd rather have an Aoi story and how she met Shinobu. Just as an example.

Because of the fast pace of the series, a lot of great characters really don't get much screentime. I want to see Uzui's family, I want to see the former Pillars in their youth or the Upper Moons fighting each other for rank hundreds of years ago. I'd much prefer those things than a chapter where they retell something from the main story but from another character's perspective.

We need more Aoi, also she mentioned at some point that she struggled to pass the final selection, I'd love to see what kind of breath does she have.

Really? I thought the music didn't fit at all with half the scenes and that the directing felt very weak. Like it looked like it was trying to do a lot of shot for shot recreations from the manga and failing to use the medium of animation to it's fullest.
I'm still gonna stick with it, but if I didn't already love the source material, I'm not sure that I would.

He looks like a child, I don't think he sounds like one. Ideally he should sound like a young man who can take care of himself and others but give away his youth in those moments where he says something too bold and ridiculous like saying he'll kill Muzan when he first meets Kagaya and all the Pillars laugh at him. He's clearly not a child in the way Inosuke and Zenitsu are.

What did you find so engrossing about it? I'm genuinely curious.
The music during scenes with his family, felt incredibly over the top and in your face with the schmaltzyness. It really undercut the impending sense of dread that should have been building since we already know the fate his family will suffer because of the opening scene. A lot of the CG was considerably worse than in Tales or UBW (though still better than Godeater). There was next to nothing unique or visually additive from the composition and direction, with it being a nearly shot for shot recreation of the first chapter.

Nezuko wouldn't be all that strong, but demon Tanjirou would be OP as fuck

Almost everyone thought it was gonna get axed in the first 20 chapters, partly because it didn't really fit the mold of successful battle shounen manga. Despite having a traditional shounen plot, Kimetsu lacks many factors associated with modern battle shounen (no rival characters, no friendship power, no love interest, no tournament arc, traditional Japanese setting, "ugly" art, MC doesn't want to be the best at something etc).
Coupled with the fact that Kimetsu is Wani's first serialization, and we have the manga rushed non-stop in the first 30 chapters to avoid the axe.

If anything, Kimetsu was relatively slow, in the first 5 volumes or so. It managed to stuck by because it got emotional tug going since chapter 1.
It only got fast fast after spider family- Muzan killed the lower moons and Akaza showed up to kill Rengoku.
It also only feel fast because all other relevant battle shonen (OP, bnha, and BBC lover) waste so much on set up that do not pay off until hundreds of chapters later.

I do wish there were at least a couple of more lower moons, maybe an arc before the demon train involving a different pillar teaming with the group to kill 1 or 2 lower moons. But I liked what we did get so I don't mind

Its kinda funny that all others shonnen have long set ups and relatively short fights, while kimetsu has short set ups but very long fights (except for Zenitdu vs raigaku) like the red light district arc, that has like 6 chapters of set up and like 20 of nonstopping fights

Rushed in term of action, not plot development. We literally have a timeskip in the fourth chapter. Tanjirou went through his training from a novice to a full-fledge swordman, then passed the final selection by chapter 9. In other manga, this part will fill about 3 volume (remember the chuunin exam in Naruto?). He then was sent from one mission through the next, killing the swamp demon, the ball and arrow demons, and the drum demon by chapter 28. The pacing only slowed down when Zenitsu and Pig Assault introduced, making the Spider Mountain the first act with proper length for a story arc.

Naruto was already going in missions before the exam tho, remember zabuza arc?
Other mangas also move quite fast, black clover had asta pass the knights exam and join the black bulls pretty fast.
Deku went from a skinny to fit in like 9 months but all of that was in 1 chapter

I don't understand the hype. This series is not really any more special than Bleach, Hero Academia or any other WSJ series right now (maybe you can argue it is a bit feminine and emotional for a boys' manga in some chapters, personally I don't really like these things).
I mean, the first ~30 chapters were so fucking bad I don't really know why it wasn't axed back then. Terrible pacing and lame storytelling almost made me drop it. Later on it got a little better but nothing that surprises me. The villains are interesting, that's it.

I watched episode 1 and binged all 153 chapters and... I can understand some of the hype, mainly in how unique some of the demon techniques are, but the story feels all over the place at times.
Kanao and Genya feel critically underdeveloped, especially considering they're part of the five from the beginning and have an extraordinary sense like the other three. And that bit with Zenitsu, his fellow student-turned-demon, and master felt like it came out of left field.
Each pillar and Oyakata ended up being remarkably straightforward. There was no betrayal or in-fighting. I thought Oyakata might have some shadier business going on, especially with how they mentioned how easily he can influence people, but nothing came about from that.
I thought we were going to get something where Kanao and Genya would each have individual battles alongside Tanjirou like Inosuke and Zenitsu did, all five would be united and work together, there'd be one big battle where a pillar is revealed as a traitor, and then the final assault. But then the big baddie just shows up and the final battle starts.

Kimetsu is very cliche like Black Clover and Hero Academia but I don't see any comments about it.

Also Genya and Kanao aren't that underdeveloped. We get to see and understand why Kanao is so aloof to people, and it's from her interactions with Tanjiro that every time we see her she progressively becomes more and more open. It's not something that the plot or narrative completely focus on, but it's there. Also Genya had an entire flashback in the Swordsmith Village and a portion of the training dedicated between him and his brother, if that gets paid off in the current arc then that would be a pretty good way to wrap up his development (assuming we're in the final arc). Just cause it's not completely drawn out or the sole focus of the story doesn't mean it's not there.

First, I didn't say it's meh, nor did I don't like it because it didn't do what I expected. It's just that the story developments are weirdly placed and it feels like there's a ton of set-up that doesn't get capitalized on.
We meet Genya briefly in ch 8 and see him a second time later, but we don't learn his name until ch 101. Him having demon-based powers is even alluded to that second time because he's unnaturally large.
So there's a 93-chapter gap where Genya is irrelevant, but we know he'll become relevant EVENTUALLY because the final selection only had 5 pass, the other 4 are relevant, and the other 4 represent 4 of the 5 senses.

You could say the same for every single series. Is a No.1 manga actually better than No.2 for that given issue? Of course not, the editor board will make the ToC so that they can promote certain manga, but if a series consistently ranks at the top for a long time, you can bet that it's is really popular with the nips. Kimetsu sales number have been really good lately, so I think its ranking just reflects that.

Kimetsu has always been very straightforward in term of plot. It's about a kindhearted boy taking up the sword to help people and hopefully turning sister back into human, and probably will stay that way to the very end. Maybe the manga is less interesting that way, but I appreciate the mangaka for keeping thing simple and not trying to force half-assed plot twists just because.
It's true that certain chapters are underdeveloped and I would be really disappointed if we were actually in the final act. However, I don't believe that's the case. Hopefully we will more breathing room in future to develop the supporting cast more.

cliche or tropes are only bad if they are overused/not executed well. There's a reason they exist in the first place. For example, the 'some demons are good' trope is played like this "demons used to be humans with human feelings, and some of them are worth sympathizing with, but we'll kill them anyway because it's the right thing to do."
To summarize, if you don't feel annoyed with a supposedly cliche development but see it as natural story progression, the cliche has been executed well.
