I should clarify I was told to skip episode 1 because apparently it spoiled the ending, which I did, so said ending caught me completely off-guard and might have made the experience better.

Oh also, it was the first Mazinger thing I ever experienced, haven't read any manga or watched any anime before this, so I didn't have stuff to compare it to.
Loved Shin Mazinger Z, fantastic show. Got me to really dive deep into 70's mecha and experience awesome stuff like Getter Robo, Jeeg, Zambot, and pretty much anything else from SRW that I could get my grubby hands on.
Shin is great if you (think) you know what to expect and enjoy seeibg Mazinger's story played out with nicer style and modern production, and then have it punch you in the goddamn balls the last half. I'm always eager for more Manger, but I've pretty much given up on Shin Great as sad as it is to say, and know if they do ZERO there's no way they'll be able to do it justice. Great show though, we need more HOT BLOOD, even though fucking casuals and normalfags think just having Gurren Lagann is enough. Always triggers me when someone won't give anything else a try because it won't be as "big" or "epic" as TTGL was.

Shin Mazinger cuts to the beginning in episode 2. The manga is good but really simple, it also assumes you'd been following the anime since certain upgrades appear with no introduction.
