Yes and no. One Piece is formulaic in that they come to an island and beat the bad guy. But I don't see how that is supposed to be a bad thing. It's a story about a group of friends that travel around the world, so of course they will come to a new island. And if there are no bad guys to fight there, then there would be no conflict in that story and you would only see the Straw hats waiting for the logpose to point to the next island.

The key is not thinking to much abut it looking for "hints" and other shit, Oda couldn't care less about love romances and has stated so in various occasions, this is and adventure/action manga aimed at males, so believing for a second that he will put any kind of effort in it is nothing but wishfull thinking.

I was never that big a fan of Ace honestly. Sabo feels like an expansion of Ace in a way that you couldn't just spring upon him if you kept him alive. He also interacts with Luffy differently, having been the voice of reason of the brothers as a kid and being a lot more obsessed with Luffy's safety than Ace ever was.

I don't look at Sabo and just see Ace. The only reason you can really do that is because of his fruit. The two both grew up in completely different backgrounds and have separate personalities. You couldn't just swap the two and have everything make sense in the story. Both do bare shame regarding their lineage but Ace's is one where the dilemma is more internal, wondering if he should even exist, which is why his place among the Whitebeard Pirates makes sense, he was finally able to find a family. Whereas Sabo always felt this longing need to escape a sense of oppression, which ties into his role in the Revolutionaries preventing Nobles from treating people like human garbage. In terms of development he's the most fleshed out of the Revs at the moment, and gives us a relatable tie to them that Dragon can't fulfill due to being a much more stern and closed-off person whose inherent mystery has been one of the most intriguing parts of the group throughout the story.

Sabo also represents this idea that while Luffy has grown stronger over the course of the story, he still has a way to go before becoming the big dog. With Sabo in the picture Luffy still has that familial tie to look up to. Dragon is related to Luffy by blood, but he never was in Luffy's life like Sabo was.

I addressed your reasons in my post though. You mention Sabo stealing traits from Ace even though the only thing they share in common is the fruit. Also Ace explicitly stated as he was dying that Sabo existed and that came before the flashback even started, and he had the tattoo as well, and you also saw the third sake cup very slightly in the panel when we first saw Luffy and Ace swear to be brothers during Marineford. It seems like you would've rather they spelled out that Sabo was a thing outright through exposition even though characters rarely if ever indulge upon their backstories to others in the series. Might as well have mentioned when Ace was introduced that they weren't actually blood related too and remove any surprise behind him being Roger's son whatsoever. I don't agree with that line of reasoning.

Another thing to keep in mind is how prominent the theme of Inherited Will is in One Piece. Sabo is a very obvious example of that. Some rando getting the fruit would not have any significance. Luffy also still went through the turmoil of losing both Sabo and Ace. Finding out that Sabo was alive doesn't undo the fact that his perceived death had a massive impact on his development as a kid. And knowing someone is still around to take up the mantle of Ace is a form of relief for Luffy after all the hardship he had to endure prior to the timeskip. Which is fitting because Sabo was always the good cop to Ace's bad cop when they were younger.

I hope when Luffy dies he will just be replaced by his lost twin, Bluffy, and then the series will go from there.

Anyway, I hoped he would return, but that ship has sailed. We just had an arc where Sanji's backstory and the Baratie was relevant, and mixed into that was a character who could neutralize poison. Last thing we saw of Gin was when he walked away from the Baratie, poisoned to death. It was probably the best setup for a Gin comeback we were going to get. But he didn't come back, and now he probably won't ever.

Seems like you would've rather had all of this spelled out for you rather than kept it ambiguous and open for interpretation, which I think would be less exciting. Again, would it really be as interesting if Ace said "Oh Luffy and I aren't actually blood related" when he was first introduced? At this point it just seems like we're delving to subjectivity and are at an impasse so I'll leave it at that.

What I dislike about Sabo is that Ace' and Luffy#s design went pretty well together. Ace looked like a more adult, but also somewhat edgier Luffy. Even from just looking at them, you could say they were brothers or atleast have a strong connection.

Sabo just doesn't fit them at all. I know that can be explained away with narrative reasons, but character design is important, and I just don't feel Sabo as someone who has close ties to either Luffy or Ace.

Both he and Helmeppo, really. Both were just dorky kids, and Helmeppo specifically was practically a stuck up noble. Getting perscribed with a daily dose of Garp was good for them.

He definately has a personality. He's just more of a straightman compared to most of the Strawhats' wackiness.
Also, fishman karate is not just karate. Guy can throw tsunamis. On top of that, he has proven himself to be a great helmsman.

Compare him to any other character in the story. Even fullbody was more interesting! That chestliving dwarf guy! Even alvida, and her only notable thing was that she won season 4 of the biggest loser! Compare jimbei to any other fish in the show! Hachi has like 6 more arms! How can jimbei even compete? He can't! Even arlong, the second most lamest fish in the show at least had a cool nose, while jimbei is just fat! And arlong was just the villain for a short arch. Jimbei keeps following luffy like some rejected puppy that can't understand no one wants him! That's my opinion, based on facts.

The one thing I remember him for is carrying luffy off a battlefield. The end. If the japs are so boring they enjoy jimbei over so many good characters then all the more fishman karatepower to them.

Personally, I don't love Jinbe, but I like him together with Luffy, and I think he would make for a good straightman addition to the crew (see his reaction towards their behaviour on Fishman Island) with usefulness beyond just being a strong guy (see the way he steered the Sunny during WCI).
