OPM and SNK are arguably the most popular series in the last decade.
How come that snk lost popularity during the 4 years of wait between S1 and S2 while OPM in some astonishing way gained popularity during the wait between S1 and S2 which is also 4 years and now it's basically the most popular anime in the recent decade ?
Talking about the west ofc

One Punch Man is good satire. Titan is for chuuni retards.
Yeah I've also thought of this
I don't know. Maybe because comedy will always be more accessible to people than drama/horror. And I think the manga for OPM was probably more accessible to comic book normalfags than Shingeki's chicken scratch. Also Capeshit will always be relevant.
because season 1 of snk is shit
I'm pretty sure Snk still has great manga sales i.e. the only popularity criteria that matters while OPM is who cares tier.
>while OPM is who cares tier.
Last time I checked it was in the top 10 selling manga so you're definitely butthurt
SNK is too focused on plot and reliant on a shock-value premise to maintain popularity over such a large gap. When season 2 rolls around, and everyone's already watched a bunch of other shit and stopped caring about Attack on Titan, the shock of titans, plot twists, and everything else has rapidly diminished. Some people care, but the overwhelming hype upon the show's release is now nonexistant and anyone that was truly invested from the start already read the manga, so the number of people watching the anime has fallen.
Conversely, One Punch Man is a comedy that had great animation and had almost no significant story beats or major twists, and the few that were there aren't important to enjoying the show. You can just hop in, only remembering the basic idea of one-punching monsters, and everything else that's important can be figured out in seconds. That's my take, at least.
You're pretty spot on on snk, but I would say OPM also had a larg beloved secondary cast, and the most obvious example is mumen rider who pretty much gave OPM a new color
>How come that snk lost popularity during the 4 years of wait between S1 and S2 while OPM in some astonishing way gained popularity during the wait between S1 and S2 which is also 4 years and now it's basically the most popular anime in the recent decade ?
Because SNK went full retard in the manga while OPM has maintained at least solid writing.
When? 2017? kys faggot
SAO is definitely more popular
If we're going by manga sales SNK is still #2/#3. That's a massive accomplishment.
The thing about the anime was that it achieved levels of popularity so insane that I don't think anything has come close ever since. Some shows like OPM and SAO had similar normie appeal but still nowhere near the levels of AOT. It's hard to understate just how many normies were watching Attack on Titan in 2013. I had friends who would rather die than be caught watching anime end up watching Attack on Titan. The word of mouth was just incredible. Overall I think it was quite an anomaly, so when Season 2 came around most of those normies had moved on or forgotten about it. With dedicated fans of anime/manga though popularity stayed steady or continued to rise in the case of the manga.
Because you’re retarded and don’t understand any valid metric to judge popularity for Japanese anything.
Wrong, snk got better over time, while opm is dragging out the plot
OPM is irrelevant now.
Mob psycho > both
Because snk expanded on its story and became quite good, while opm is still as easy to follow as ever, and we all know the masses prefer the later to the former.
>Some shows like OPM and SAO had similar normie appeal but still nowhere near the levels of AOT.
WRONG.
sao don't didn't reach it but OPM has long surpassed SNK
>they don't like the Marley Arc
This
>Shows the list of volumes and not the overall sales
Kek, OPM wins again fgt
Nah. 2013 AOT was still much bigger than OPM.
Nah 2015 OPM is bigger than snk
Well, OPM will be dead after S2 premieres and everyone witnesses what a train wreck it is.
Daily reminder
>animenewsnetwork.com
>didn't even make the list
OPMfags eternally btfo
>Implying that snk S2 didn't have worse cgi titans and horses
>Mha outsold snk
Oh my
but all shonen is for chuuni retards
I only got into AoT for how catchy that season 1 OP was.
Torawareta kutsujoku wa hangeki no koushi da! Jouheki no sono kanata emono wo hofuru JÄGER!
Then they moved to different OPs and I cared much less.
OPM's OP was great too though.
Backlog
The CGI is far from the biggest problem, mate. The most concerning parts are the horribly drawn still frames and the disturbing lack of animation. SnK had a lot of good drawings and greatly animated fight scenes.
I really don't know if you were around when it aired, but it's pretty unquestionable that it was a bigger event.
The webcomic was
The manga now is basically Murata jerking off and ONE apparently having no idea how to add ideas to the original without making it more bland and less inspired
horrible taste
OP 2 > OP 3 > OP 1 > OP 4
>MAL
Doesn't matter, it could be animated in Lego style and it would be more popular that snk
>One Punch Man 12 episodes - 142 sakuga
>Attack on Titan 49 episodes - 244 sakuga
There's a difference of 1.5 years between OPM and SNK .
Also
>Mal
Kek, brainlets
In all honesty I was probably a bigger fan of One Punch Man, but as the manga's quality started to plummet, I can't even bring myself to care about the franchise anymore. Some people seem upset about Season 2's animation but I just find it amusing at this point. I'm at least going to enjoy the train wreck.
Did you read OPM?
There will introduce a character named garou, he'll basically be the Levi of OPM
OPM didn't have a season 2 to fuck things up yet.
>OPM was b-bigger than SNK w-when it aired...!
>b-but MAL doesn't c-count...
4 season of SNK will be absolutelly kino. I wonder what normies will think about it.
soon
opm was decent
snk was never good
Good chunk of normies who watch for big dumb zombie action will just be confused and unable to follow the story, but overall I think most who are still left will accept it. It's the ultimate pleb filter.
One Punch Man is a very enjoyable meme from the start but goes to absolute shit fast. Attack on Titan starts pretty mediocre but gets exponentially better as it goes on.
Do you people seriously believe that OPM is more popular than SnK? Isn't SnK only topped by OP in terms of manga sales in Japan?
>He doesn't know about the grim reminder
Yikes
Read what I said, there was a difference of almost 2 years fgt, also there's the fact that OPM is 12 episode while snk is 24 so OPM automatically wins
Snk's style was fresh but then became tiring
Is it a trend now to call a series that goes to shit a pleb filter? It's pretty pathetic desu
Gaijins are dumb capeshit lovers. Nothing new.
>No argument
Kek, OPM wins yet again
I guess Your Name is more popular than OPM then since its a movie (1 episode) and was released later than OP but has 950k members
OPM is basically the savior of anime.
Snk is a shittier version of the walking dead and game of thrones, and normalfags noticed it
Marley Arc was absolutely a pleb filter. It's easily the best arc in the series. The only people I've talked to who didn't like it genuinely didn't understand it. It's the result of people who read SNK expecting The Walking Dead level story despite the fact that the story evolves a shitload after the basement. They're incapable of following a story that expects the reader to be semi competent
>subversion of capshit that turns into shonen garbage
vs
>nice setting that was ruined by humans were the giants all along
OPM is better
OPM
pros:Saitama
cons:everyone else
AoT
pros: interesting premise
cons: flat characters
>OPM BTFO by My seven quirks academia
Such fall of grace
SNK is better than ever now, pleb.
Cope.
Yes it is, but OP said "series" not a movie
t. speedreader
A lot of westerners fans dropped it like hot potato when it started to become more political and less mindless fighting.
Ayyy the new buzzword, damn OPM does make a lot of people seeth
Watching OPM-fags come to terms with their series devolving into the same thing it was made to parody is sad.
t. speedreader
Ofc it is, keep telling yourself that
>soldiers good
>soldiers + politics bad
Eren is the best Shonen protagonist ever created.
>he's stuck in the past
Let it go my dude
Rage against an absurd world full of horrors complimented with plot twists, but the plot twists seemed contrived. The world was set up for more and more schemes and worldviews to be revealed as it went on. I stopped caring when I found out they were on a claymore experiment island.
vs. the japanese version of a marvel movie
Kek, confirmed for never reading the manga
i like humans vs impossible odds story lines
the fact that being a giant is reversible and doesn't have any consequences is just poor writing
>Wojack
>Yea Forums maymays
Man snkfags are pathetic
Basically this.
OPM was always the best option to go for
It is right underneath Tokyo.
web.archive.org
web.archive.org
>Kek at those MAL scores after they aired
OPM wins this one lads, 226k members shortly after airing vs only 169k for shingeki, which had a longer runtime than OPM too
>being a titan is reversible
Why are you talking about a series you've never read user?
Garou will single handedly save the industry
What are you even saying titanization is not reversible unless you become a shifter and if you become a shifter you have the consequence of dying in 13 years. Why would you think you could get away with saying something so blatantly false?
>OPM
>pros:Saitama
>cons:everyone else
Oh come on, that's totally reversed. Everyone else is more interesting and hilarious than Saitama. The side cast is amazing apart from Genos. King, Tatsumaki, Zombieman, Boros, the list of fun and engaging personalities goes a mile long.
Saitama basically exists for the other characters to react to.
As i said, OPM wins yet again
>cant even beat Tokyo Ghoul
>doesn't even make the list
Oh no no no no
>main character turns into a titan to save his friends
>reverts back after the fight like nothing ever happened
I stopped reading at ch99 of attack on titan.
I might speed read, but it seemed to be getting really retarded with erin being older and shit.
>MAL
Kinda cringe
Man you're dumb
Titan shifters =/= titans. The shifters are literally part of the premise.
That's why a lot of people began dropping it, it betrayed its premise
Find another way to answer this then
please kill yourself. I beg you from the bottom of my heart.
>inb4 "normal fag"
Its well planned and the concept and execution is top-tier. Art and animation fluidity is extraordinary. The anime would have been god-tier to me if not for me being desensitized by 600 plus other anime
>capeshit vs high fantasy
I'll still take AoT desu senpai
Snkfags are pathetic and are incapable of replying with a decent answers
shifters are a dumb concept
>what if we replaced werewolfs with weregiants
Its honestly shocking to have to say that attack on titan is actually too smart for a lot of people on this board. Because its not actually smart at all you literally just have to pay attention. People on this board are just really really stupid.
Best metric is simply to have been there, in which it's obvious that SNK had bigger audiences than OPM did when it aired. Not sure why it matters though, since they were both massive.
I used to shit on certain mangakas for spoon feeding readers all the answers but now I kind of get it. Some audiences are seriously double digit IQ
We will see next year when it will even surpass that pedo bait serie BNHA.
i'd probably add BNHA to that list too
EHfags are mentally ill.
S1 was good, S2 was the steaming pile.
