Genuinely what I don't understand about MAL or r/anime. I don't care about the rest, because that's a commonly occuring phenomenon on all rating websties. Be it IMDB, RYM, Letterboxed, literature websites or whatnot. But I was never able to understand the summary bit chained to reaction images. It's as spastic and dull as most pre-2000s threads. There's barely any debate, barely any actual conversation. So what the hell is the point? If I don't get a response, I don't even feel like getting the attention I crave. So why do it? These people obviously want attention, so why write these summaries when they clearly won't generate it?

Probably bumps up posting statistics or something like that. It's the usual "internet points" phenomenon. Also gives them a sense of self-importance.
