Why do so many anime characters still use flip phones? Is this a cultural thing for the Japanese? Because they’re cheaper for companies/schools/the government to give to people, and therefor more common?
I know about Isekai Smartphone, but plenty of other anime characters still use flip phones in 2019.
How will anime girls post on Instagram, Tinder, etc.?
Flip phones still exist here, but it is not common to see one. Maybe some still exist because they are for the older individuals and younger kids who need monitoring and have less access to apps. The company I work for still has some because they don't want to buy new ones since theirs still work.
This. My LG Rumor was my favorite phone by far, and my wpm on it was godly. I shouldn't be forced to buy a glorified burner just to use a keyboard again.

Every anime in the last 3 years had smartphones. Except Bocchi

I used to wonder the same thing about braces because none of the middle school or high school kids have them, but then I realized it was because the Japanese are worse when it comes to their teeth than the English.

Japan makes good electronics but paradoxically they're usually about 5-10 years behind on technology trends.
Evan Rodriguez
japanese phones had comparable features way before smartphones became mainstream so they had no reason to switch

God, i love 40mp music.

Those motorola razr phones were pretty sweet, wish they brought them back.

Still got mine. Works fine after 17 years.

it's like with fanny packs, I would use the shit out of them if people didn't give that look like they are judging all my life choices

My favorite part of smartphones nowadays is they have made it harder to find removable battery ones so the government can track you with stingray technology etc.

How much of a consumerist whore do you have to be to buy a new phone every few years? Smartphones weren't even a thing until the first iPhone like 5 years ago.
Angel Moore
You sure? My current 4G mobile plan is 4GB/day/2 months for a less than $5 SIM. After first 2 months it becomes $3.5/4GB/day/month so I just bought myself a new SIM for the data.

>the first iPhone like 5 years ago. user, please look at a calendar.
Japan is more deeply, for lack of a better term, "red pilled" than the west, which is part of the reason why many people here still avoid using modern Apple/Google smartphones.
