Why is this season so SHIT?
Why is this season so SHIT?
subhuman western pig pandering killed anime.
Go watch old kino anime you missed then.
Anime has been terrible for over 5 years now.
that may be the case but the industry has completely flatlined at this point
>watch all animated shows produced by an entire country all year long
>whoa why the fuck is most of this garbage?
You yourself decided to shoulder the burden of watching a load of shit the second you decided to watch all shows instead of just the ones that managed to claw it out of the seasonal shitheap
the anime of the century came out in 2016 though
No kidding. Feels like a steady decline since about 2011 or so that picked up pace in the past several years.
The fact that I used to watch around 15 shows a season back in 2011 feels so jarring compared to how things are now. I can hardly even find 3 good shows airing in a given season now and I wind up picking up some 2-3 mediocre shows on top of that just to fill up my schedule because I'd be bored as shit otherwise.
Manga adaptations becoming a staple
Good but overrated as fuck.
If those 15 shows from 2011 were to air next season, how many of them would you really pick up with your current taste in anime? Maybe the quality of anime isn't declining, your taste is just developing. This is the case for me, at the very least. I used to watch 15-20 shows a season for two reasons. One is that I had all the time in the world, and two is that, being that I had just gotten into anime in 2010-2011, I could enjoy even the most awful and generic haremshit there was. Now I just filter out garbage I would've watched years ago.
you just have shit taste
watch bocchi
>IseKINO Quartet
>bad
I've waited a long time to see this entire thing animated. I haven't watched a series in season in maybe 3 years. I'm surprised tokyotosho is still up and running.
>not original
>not even an action anime and they had to change the artstyle to make it cheaper
It's a talking head 4koma jesus fucking christ C2C like holy hell how bottom of the barrel can you get.
it's a quality 4koma they're adapting tho
That's a 14koma.
It's gonna be a rough season.. if it wasn't for manga and LN's. AO's are screwed.
I totally agree with you user. It's just his taste that changed. As for me I'm actually watching even more shows compared to years ago when I started with watching anime. For me it was actually the opposite. I agree that some shows are just rubish and I avoid them but overall there are still good ones amongst them. Every season has lots of anime I can watch and who are interesting. I'm a person who was very early in this field and I have to tell you the quality of animation is much more better. If I rewatch the older anime I used to watch I kinda get annoyd by the poor animation they had back then. Only some of them are still a gem despite their age but those are just a few. The majority are just horrible to rewatch after so much years. Anime is not dead it's the taste of that user that has changed.
Literally this, the only good stuff coming out of Japan these days is Manga and LNs, a few visual novels are alright too
kyoani abandoned us
Because it's filled with short shit and other garbadge, just a bad season
This shows that you're actually fucking retarded, winter of 2018 was fucking amazing
This, I got bored while rewatching some older series I enjoyed back then and ended up speedwatching. I stick to manga now, and for the past few seasons I've only watched anime adaptations of the ones I already read, not even completing most of them.
>Look at the seasonal charts every time
>Can't see anything that appeals to me
So are all the PV's and descriptions just shit and the shows themselves actually good, or what?
I see you haven't watched Saiki yet
This is sometimes the case.
>shounenbabies
Based
I'm still amazed how something so creative could release in modern era.
>t. stopped watching anime 5 years ago
Try 15.
Because you're watching tv anime.
>all this edge in just one thread
Based oldfag
Yuuka!
fuck is there even anything airing this season?
OPM2 and that's it?
Like thankfully we still have stuff from last season airing (JoJo, Shield Hero, Dororo) but this season is not looking good.
It hasn't aired yet.
What kinda shows do you usually like then
2018 was just a good year in general, I can't find a single bad season.
It's the off season.
It's this new generation of fans who will basically watch anything that's at least some entertainment value. People tend to be less strict on material when they get most of it for free.
I've always only cared about story. Never cared about "bad animation" Feel like the current shows lack pacing, but I still find plenty of good pacing in manga
agreed, apart from second cours most seems boring. Summer seems to be where the good stuff is.
That's pretty far from the truth.
Every season there's like 5 shows being watched by a ton of people and the entire rest only fractions of that bother to watch.
Last season was worse, Ueno-san was the only decent thing to watch.
That's who dominates Yea Forums at this point.
They don't want to stray from shounen and don't want to try anything new.
>second cour of that shielder anime
>that new shounenshit with demon sister
>anime about island exploration and dealing with youkais
>some background trash that may or may not be watchable
I don't know but I'm not complaining, there were a lot more drier seasons before this.
Because comfy SoL anime is dead
>comfy SoL anime is dead
Yuru Camp season 2 soon.
anime is trash after 2010
Hey, This is a good time then to work on that Backlog user.
Are you people serious? It's hard to tell properly yet, but this season looks stacked, there's 5+ shows I plan to watch to the end and that's not including stuff like OPM which look like good trainwreck material to follow.
It's last year that was mostly shit, Winter 2019 alone already had more series than I liked than maybe the whole of 2018.
>two episodes into Seto no Hanayome
>halfway through the third season into Zero no Tsukaima
>30-ish episodes into GTO
>somewhere in the 5th Stage of Initial D
Why am I unable to finish whatever I'm picking up to watch?
You have said about this every season for years now.
The "muh anime died in the (era where I started watching anime and it was all fresh and new, remembered with rose-tinted glasses)" shit doesn't really work so well in a season where 2 of the most talented directors of the 90s (Watanabe and Ikuhara) both have shows.
These threads are shit.
Saiki is incredible and I believe Netflix has announced another season, I think it will be new anime content and chapters that weren't adapted.
Fuck Ikuhara.
It has Kimetsu and JoJo is still running. It's honestly not that bad
I would, tbqh
Meme on me all you want, but the past 6 seasons have all been absolutely abysmal. I think we are currently paying the price for 2016 and 17 being very good years by anime standards.
I am not watching anything this season. Even last season i only watched Mob.
Dont worry capitalism will fix it
It's not that anime has gotten worse. It's that as you mature and see the tropes, the formula gets stale for you. It's why modern anime is still popular because a lot of virgins are joining the anime community to replace old farts.
To be more accurate, there's maybe 1-2 good anime a year, and it has always been this way.
>2018 was just a good year in general
Factually incorrect because instead of watching currently airing anime, I simply watch movies and shows from a 3-50 years ago. And somehow those don't come off the as equally terrible.
Oh fuck off, i watch plenty of different kinda shows but last 4 years have been shit outside of few shows a year.
>Watanabe and Ikuhara
I like both of those but that new Watanabe anime doesn't look interesting. Also what show is Ikuhara directing?
>Watanabe
Yeah, because Zankyou no Terror was so great.
>a lot of virgins
>replace old farts
You can be both and enjoy new anime.
You mean 20 years.
Anime has always been terrible
Looks like I won
It could be another ZnT, but why not Kids on the Slope: Yuri Edition?
Ikuhara is Sarazanmai (Mappa). Looks gay instead of yuri this time, but I'm just hoping for a wild ride with Yea Forums.
This. There may be fluctuations in average quality, but it's nowhere near as extreme as people make it out to be
>comparing the amount of good anime in a timeframe of almost 50 years to a small window of a few years
Are you sure you're not just retarded?
>Are you sure you're not just retarded?
Pretty sure I am not because I've seen so much stuff that what I watch now extremely niche works that don't even have 5k members on MAL. So I am not even comparing the acclaimed stuff the 2018, but the niche stuff barely anyone knows exists. Besides, do you even realize what this was about? He claimed that the reason for my disgust is the change to my personality. If what he siad was true, then I'd hate all the anime I watched, not just the garbage of 2018/19.
>If what he siad was true, then I'd hate all the anime I watched, not just the garbage of 2018/19.
The point is that your perception of following an anime season when you're relatively new to anime is always going to be very different to when you've been around for a while and as he said, learn to recognise the tropes, regardless of the quality of the season.
As for watching stuff in the past, the truly shit and bland stuff has been forgotten and the hidden gems of the past have been remembered (even in it's just by a niche community). This is why it's always easier to find quality material from past time periods.
There are definitely things I miss about older anime (like proper shading), but saying it's suddenly shit in a small window of barely over a year is pure hyperbole. It's just a tiny window of time compared to the 50 year period you named, even if it is a dire time for anime I very much doubt 2018 is anything special and I'm sure you could find a worse year in the since 1970 for anime.
And that's factually wrong since I am neither new to anime nor has my perception changed, you fucking retard. 2018/19 simply have been abysmal years so far. From one of the worst Precure's ever, all the way to forgettable shit that falls apart in the middle of its production process like HisoMaso or Starlight.
Why are you parrotting this shit like you're some broken record? Is that really all your kind can do? Pretend for anime to "always be the same quality"? This isn't about MUH OLD GOOD NEW BAD you mouth breating nigger. It's about the fact that 2018/19 are bloody terrible compared to the rest of the decade.
Exactly. You are burned out. Isn't sorry but 2011 wasn't as good. You just watched more shit.
> nor has my perception changed,
And you would be aware of this because?
>Pretend for anime to "always be the same quality"
I'm not even saying that, I'm saying your being hyperbolic about the difference and it's making your argument look dumb.
>2018/19
We're a quarter of the way into 2019. You're basically just talking about a single year. Can you name top tier anime from every single year since 1970?
>Yoko Hikasa only has one role this season
really makes you think
>And you would be aware of this because?
Because I watch garbage from other years and it's not as terrible as the garbage that is airing right now. My perception of the medium is exactly the same. It doesn't suddenly change because today I watch a show from 2012, and tomorrow I watch one from 2019. I perceive tropes, repetitiveness and the derivative nature of anime the exact same.
>Can you name top tier anime from every single year since 1970
Probably not, which is the point. Every now and then there are some terrible years, and 2018 was one of those and 2019 is shaping up to be another one. Past years being shit doesn't make 2018 any better. Is never said NEW ANIME BAD, I said 2018 ANIME BAD.
>duude i hate anime xD
Yea Forumsermin, fuck off.
Sage
It's usually newfags that only watch one specific type of show and get mad when a season doesn't include it. This season isn't bad at all.
Here is a strange and alienating tip for you:
only watch series you enjoy
2013 was the last decent year by my reckoning.
How the fuck do you watch ONLY things you enjoy, if you have to watch at least some portion of a show to know if you enjoy it. It's impossible to not stuff your mouth full of stinking shit while you search for an anime you enjoy.
If you don't like the series, drop it. It's that simple.
2009-2013 was the golden age of CGDCT
Also the worst years in Yea Forums history. After seeing what Lucky Star did it's probably not a coincidence at this point.
>OP is a time traveler who watched anime of this season from beginning to end
>Because I watch garbage from other years and it's not as terrible as the garbage that is airing right now.
And I've explained to you why it's much easier to find good anime and avoid garbage from the past than for very recent anime, regardless of the quality of either.
>Is never said NEW ANIME BAD, I said 2018 ANIME BAD.
What do you disagree about with then, if it's not about new vs old?
And I didn't like much in 2018 either but I thought winter 2019 was fine, Mob and Kaguya were overhyped but fun watches with good direction and Dororo was decent too. 3 watchable shows in a season is more than average for me.
I'll take gorespammer, Accel, Porky and all the annoying tripfags any day over endless shounen generals and fun-hating mods.
kek
Then you're retarded because this shit was unusable.
This season the number of new full-length shows (only thirty) is at a nine-year low. Studios have probably realised that sales have been trending downwards, so they've retreated by adapting mainly sequels and popular manga. Personally I don't think the contents are that bad, but there certainly is less variety compared to a year ago. In general it's actually a pretty decent season, but nothing really stands out yet.
>And I've explained to you
You explained why this works for newfags. What part of this converstaion are you too retarded to understand? I have nothing acclaimed left to watch. So if I happen find something that's good, then that's because I stumbled upon it, not because it's praised. My situation watching old anime is the same situation I am in for seasonal. I watch garbage in an attempt to find something that isn't.
>What do you disagree about with
Are you illiterate?
>3 watchable shows in a season is more than average for me.
Generally each season has 2-3 really great shows which define it, especially when viewed with some nostalgia. If it has 3-5 then it's considered a really great season.
I don't think that golden age ever stopped.
From Hidamari onwards we've had at least one good CGDCT show every year. In quite a few years we've had over 4.
>You explained why this works for newfags
I don't understand what you're trying to say here? My point of
>As for watching stuff in the past, the truly shit and bland stuff has been forgotten and the hidden gems of the past have been remembered (even in it's just by a niche community). This is why it's always easier to find quality material from past time periods.
Is generally true of all media from literature to music to film. I don't see what it has to do with newfags at all.
Did Netflix even release 2nd season and final double episode?
