The first 8 episodes or so are buildup (that alone is a massive flaw for the show). It'll get better.

The alternative season has 23 episodes and was a good complement to the whole story.

All the characters are annoying spergs aside from the pig-tailed chick who has to have trauma as an excuse to not act like an annoying sperg. In fairness that is what it's target audience is like too though.

It definitely gets better, it's a little slow at first but once you reach the middle it turns into one of the best rides ever. I watched it in late January and absolutely loved it. And the final episode and the final scene is pure kino.

The genius of Steins;Gate is that it tries to trick you that it's bad during the first 10 episodes.

Only normalfags are saying that first half of Steins Gate was bad. It was great actually and these idiots aren't even aware that they loaded 2nd part so much because of 1st part.
They properly introduced characters and world. Added great atmosphere and a lot of anime tropes (which is positive, again - criticizing anime for using anime tropes is immediately revealing brainlets, exactly like usage of buzzwords like weeb).

It is okay to use tropes, but you can't just do the same thing that has been done a million times in exactly the same way with no iteration or genuine variance beyond set dressing and claim it's interesting. It's not. Tropes have their place but most of the ones that Anime has are due to the absolutely god-awful writing that was the standard in the early phases of the medium.

Also, a lot of what you call 'anime tropes' are actually Kabuki theater tropes, making them culturally irrelevant to the Japanese because they were simply lifted from a foreing culture and applied as-is with very little change. These trends were then enforced as rules, as the degenerative culture of homogenous submission that Japan has always had decided they were "tradition".

What the fuck do you think, inbred? S;G is actually a masterpiece by anime standards, and the slow build-up was a necessary tool to achieve that. You have to remember the OG source was a VN where it's common and expected to entrench readers into the story, characters, and setting via a semi-long common route.

When I first started out watching it I was bored to death but it slowly picked up. Now it's one of my favorite anime. Thought I wonder if watching it together with Yea Forums and the great times we had plays a role in this.
