You're just a zero-attention zoomer, JD was a fine protagonist.
Evan Brown
>Is megalo box the prime example of why animu with an unlikeable/uninteresting/unrelateable protagonist is doomed to fail? no
Samuel Parker
why
Christopher Campbell
Because you grew up in the cell phone age.
Landon Ross
One problem was it discarded the premise of "dudes using exoskeletons to box goddamn that's gar" with Joe foregoing using one as his gimmick, and just getting by on talent and the ability to not die when he gets hit by a guy wearing hardware designed to multiply their strength tenfold and then the fight scenes weren't terribly well animated or choreographed to show it off. Personally thought Joe was okay. I mean, he was just a kind of dumb jabroni meathead who wanted to reach the top. He was Rocky, and that's okay. The corporate scheming was what was unrelatable. ANY military would already have thoroughly invested in and investigated the use of exoframes far before they reached commercial/entertainment use. Maybe that's also part of the lingering dissatisfaction: the military should've been shown using those things already during the PTSD-flashbacks.

No, blame internet culture, nowadays to succeed you need to be controversial as fuck
>blaming MANimefags when shounenshit is ruining the industry Fuck off.
Brayden Gomez
He just didn't have any real character development the thing with the show is that it started out great and made a big splash, mainly with its great aesthetic, and people got hooked by that alone. Popularity mostly relies on getting people to tune in in the first place. 60% of viewers won't even notice a decline in quality
Benjamin Miller
Moeshit is even worse desu.
Bentley Turner
>Moeshit Enjoy your ban.

The fights were so disappointing from an animation standpoint. Lots of stills and very little weight behind everyone's movements yet we are supposed to believe the punches they are throwing would break bones.
Henry Richardson
>i dearly loved hajime no ippo If you watched Megalo Box without watching AnJ you're a fucking retard.
Jordan Campbell
Welcome to modern anime.
Connor Lee
Why are people always bringing up Ippo when Megalo Box is a tribute series for Ashita no Joe?
Christopher Diaz
That picture and premise suggests it's boxing but even more concussion-inducing, which was kind of interesting. Then I sit through multiple episodes of protag getting by without it? What the fuck, how boring.
Mason White
No stakes - The anime
Sebastian Lee
Because it's good and it involves boxing.
Joseph Thompson
I usually see people bring up Joe rather than Ippo, OP's just a retard or something.
Samuel Rivera
Joe was the only good thing about Megalo Box. The pacing and story otherwise were shit and apart from the first and last episode it was really a drag to watch. Could have been so much better but fuck it, it's over now. OST was alright though.
Aaron Lopez
>Joe was the only good thing about Megalo Box. You crazy.
Andrew Foster
Maybe I had unrealistic expectations for this but after a great first episode it went downhil really quikcly for me, and I was what seemed like one of the few people who didn't give a shit about the whole gearless thing since AnJ was never about the boxing. But the character development and story in Megalo Box was so bad. It took until the last ep with Joe and NotRikishi to make it really interesting. Everything in the middle was a poorly handled mess.
Might have worked if it was twice as long.
Andrew Nguyen
Megalobox wasn't without its flaws but it had soul, which is all I can ask for in a re-imagining of a classic.
John Jackson
>that bed scene >that climbing through the abandoned gym scene He deserved better than he got. At least his life changed for the better and he turned it around post kaboom.
