Also, the World Domination arc just isn't good (aside from the animated Shimazaki fight).

Season 1 makes season 2 seem shitty and underwhelming.

Mob never peaked.

Absolutely not, episode 5 is my favourite episode of a show in years and I fully disagree. The finale was brilliant, Toichiro was the perfect foil to Mob at that point in the story and the way the fight ended with Mob sitting next to Toichiro because he couldn't stand the thought of the man being lonely all the way till the end was one of the most touching moments in the series.
I think the Mogami arc's the strongest arc in the show so far and the way it was executed was damn-near utter perfection, but the World Domination Arc is far better than people give it credit for. So many interesting characters got great amounts of screentime and the development characters like Teru, Scar, the Body Improvement Club and even Mob/Toichiro/Serizawa got was absolutely nailed.

I hope we get a 3rd season.

Shit thread with bait first post, OP truly is a faggot.
That said, anyone else got more grids for Mob? Episode 7 at least seriously deserves one.

True that
Not only the fight was underwhelming in ep13 but the discussion between boss and mob was fairy tail cringe inducing
At least mogami arc had some backbone

What a shit anime

yeah. that final episode really sucked.

Does it not matter how good a series is overall if the last episode doesn't outdo everything that comes before?

Episode 5 was probably my least favorite episode of the season. There is something about the way that guy directs that I can't get behind. The flow always seems way too off to me. Episode 11 is the true sakuga episode of the season.

>So many interesting characters got great amounts of screentime and the development characters like Teru, Scar

Really? They were there fight Shimazaki (who they lost to) and then became irrelevant afterwards.

Pretty sure the point wasn't about the story, but probably animation-wise. Episode 13 was pretty underwhelming compared to Episode 5.

A personal opinion, but while Episode 5 felt straight up amazing and even better than in the manga. I thought that Episode 13 was kind of a let down. Maybe because my expectation were too high.
It wasn't bad though.

I agree with you. The realization of character growth in this arc is great and people do not give the Boss Fight enough credit for how much it tests Mob's ideals and layouts the issue with his methods so far. Where he just forced people to submit through force.

But to be perfectly honest, I missed a lot of this stuff while reading the manga.

No, episode 13 was just not as good as it should have been, in the direction department moreso than in the animation. The choreography was weak, the use of music inconsistent. I dunno how they could drop the ball like this.

Yeah, you're right actually. I have a bad habit of puting eveything under the word "animation".

Yeah the music in Mob has always been my biggest criticism overall. What is the composer even doing?
But the choreography should've been relatively easy to execute. They just had to follow the manga since even people who don't like this arc would agree that the original layout of this fight was some of ONE's best work.
Unfortunately Bones had to rush so much that they didn't allow many of the moments to reach their full potential. Even the reveal of the broccoli was kind of weak compared to the manga.
This is so surprising because Bones has done nothing but elevate the source material this thus far, so I understand I'm speaking from a place of being spoiled for so long.

Post Shimazaki webms. Or else.

There are some good tracks, but the final fight had these moments with no music that made some scenes fall flat. Why the fuck wasn't there any music during 100% shame and compassion?

Yeah the music was definitely better in season 2, but I just always felt the show overused the same themes too much. And like you said, sometimes the music is just completely absent. Shimazaki's fight against the Scars could've benefited from a more interesting composition for example. If Mob had a better OST it would push the whole show even further beyond, and it's already God-tier.
I just hope if we get a season 3 they don't drop the ball on the music for the finale.

I don't have any webms but here's this cute picture

The start of episode 13 had some awkward editing but after that it was pretty great

Kenji kawaii is one of the best thou

I remember telling a friend.
"Yo episode 5 is going to blow your fucking mind."
And it did.
Then I told him.
"Yo, episode 13 is going to blow your mind again." thinking because its the end of the season it had to be hardcore.
It wasn't.
I was left a fool.

That's the danger of hyping things up I guess.

Lesson learned

Don't worry. For the BDs, episode 13 will be 30 minutes long.

based op, S1 finale was way better

fake news

The biggest problem with the finale was that it lacked catharsis.
It's open ended, no consequences were suffered and we didn't learn anything new.
The last one is the biggest. It didn't add much new to the table. It's just a bit of previous ideas combined. Just that even if you're the strongest and completely unrivaled with no unstopable force like Mob to teach you a lesson. It's still not ok to be a bad boy. Then Mob still wins and the bad guy reforms.
Didn't get much out of it. While the fight had some great moments, even the fight against the teleporting dude was better.

Yeah. Season 1 had the luxury of having the ideal stopping point so if there wasn't another season it still felt like things were wrapped up fairly well. There wasn't really a great stopping point like that between then and the end of the manga. Season 2 just had to kind of abruptly stops. I wish they could've just adapted the rest of the story because the actual finale of the manga is godly.
