The first episode of this anime airs in about 2 hours. I'm actually expecting a potential AOTS here. This is also confirmed to be a split cour. Second cour airs in fall. You'll probably like this if you like Chihayafuru. What does Yea Forums think?
Synopsis: >Since the graduation of the senior members of the club, Takezou ends up being the sole member of the "Koto" (traditional Japanese string instrument) club. Now that the new school year has begun, Takezou will have to seek out new members into the club, or the club will become terminated. Out of nowhere, a new member barges into the near-abandoned club room, demanding to join the club. How will Takezou be able to keep his club alive and deal with this rascal of a new member?
My concern is the first few arcs are really "Shojou-ey" with the drama and bullying so that will probably turn people off before it gets to the good stuff.
Isaiah Perry
I'll hold my judgment until I watch the first episode.
>I'm actually expecting a potential AOTS here This boring forced drama shit could never be AOTS.
Liam Price
Josei.
I'm kind of suspicious, since the preview they showed didn't include any koto music.
Hudson Brooks
Dark horse candidate, but that all depends on the production. Also don't know how quickly the anime will blow through the arcs.
Isaac Reed
The only good arcs are the competition ones and the one about the main girl and her family. Everything else is just invented drama for the sake of it. But the good arcs make it quite worth it.
Luis Russell
Shounen, it's published in Jump Square .
Cameron Baker
Read a couple of chapters before but never follow it up but I like it so I'm gonna give it a watch for koto music and shit.
John Reyes
>Funi simulcast RIP.
Brayden Diaz
One more hour.
Jordan Morales
>funi subs oh well...
Ian King
Half more hour.
Justin Gutierrez
>Josei.
Wrong. It's shounen.
Robert Bell
Starting.
Josiah Cooper
>Seasonal shoujo shit that no one will talk about past Episode 5 >AOTS
>French rips is already out in Nyaa before English rips
Dominic Thompson
>still no subs
Carter Myers
im new to anime whats this about
Wyatt Gutierrez
You should read Nadeshiko Doremisora
Mason Taylor
It's about a group of high school kids joining the Koto club. Lots of clashing and drama early on as they learn to get along and learn more about each other while learning to play the Koto.
Jose Clark
So... is it even up on funimation considering we don't have any rips yet? French rips have been out for a while now.
Is HS trolling? How hard would it be to mux the subs into one of the proper raws that are already out?
Joshua Walker
I watched the 360 so I don't know if this applies to the other rips, but the subs are completely fucked. There are a bunch of lines just not subbed at all.
Adam Richardson
I can't believe Funimation are still making 360p versions in current year.
Owen Sanders
Are we back to the old fucked up luminosity Funimation?
Evan Long
The 720p sub was fine.
Joseph Carter
The source material is good, and the anime medium is suitable for milking the melodrama. Hope this turns out good.

First episode was pretty disappointing but I guess it was expected, trying to stretch the chapter out and all. Hopefully it picks up after Satowa appears and they start playing. Voices don't sound anything like how I imagined them but they're not bad or anything so I guess I'll get used to it.
Samuel Diaz
I think the start of the manga isn't really that great too, it took a while to pick up steam.
Wyatt Fisher
I agree, i am a huge fan of the manga but looking back it really has a slow and generic start. When it picks up though it goes full force
Brayden Campbell
Really it started getting good only once we heard Satowa's backstory and second best girl showed up I think
Leo Wright
this is lame, i'd rather rewatch sakamichi no apollon instead.
Adam Brooks
It was alright, I guess. I'm in the mood for this kind of thing and apparently it does gets better, so fuck it I'll keep watching.
Jordan Wright
Satowa, Kurisu, and Akira are cute. Cute!
Connor Thomas
>not one single note of koto even in the OP/ED Is this some kind of sick joke
David Nelson
I'll give it 2 more episodes. Premise seems really generic and it feels like they should have had kudo as the MC. I hope I get proven wrong.
Samuel Price
They're both the MCs. With their own cute romantic interest even.
Ryder Gonzalez
It's basically a run-of-the-mill kyoani melodrama but without the aesthetic
The pilot chapter mainly focused on the Kudou drama and had virtually no koto; if the next episode has no koto playing/music at all (it should have one lame piece & one good one), it's a safe bet to dumpster the entire adaptation.
Caleb Edwards
I forgot how slow the beginning is. Wonder how many people will not bother watching based solely on that.
Since the animation is going for 'solid, not spectacular', it would only be able to gain momentum by the end of the season if enough animeonlys ended up being impressed by the story.
