Both seasons ruined by Claw shit

Damn. S2 started out so good too.

True. Ironically both seasons peaked in episode 5.

Toichiro was a shit villain with boring, cliche motivations. The other Ultimate 5 members were way more interesting. The body improvement chads vs. Shibata was the peak of that arc.

The point of this season was the Reigen arc, everything else was just padding.

if you dont like it stop watching it. you dont see me shitting up other boards complaining about faggots on the food network wasting time with scraple

This is what always confuses me about Yea Forums. It feels like at least half the board don't even like anime.

I agree, cool action scenes but the Claw shit was laughable

>hurr durr you have to be a mindless drone and like everything

You're not less of a drone by hating on popular things, if anything that makes you even more of a predictable tool.

>"S2 started out so good"
>hating
maybe if you stupid fujoshi had any reading comprehension you wouldn't feel so attacked.

>waah how dare people not like what I like?!
Unironically fuck off to R.eddit. That's te general attitude in there

don't be a dummy, user. most of Yea Forums loves it, they're just being tsundere about it.

What did you expect? Claw was shit in the manga, and Bones can't do miracles.

>Well received ending by most watchers
>Some mangafags start complaining
>Must agree with them to stand out
No you retard, you're hating on popular things once again just like everyone predicted, hence a complete tool.
You're no different here.
>Waah how dare people not hate things with me!?

Toichiro wasn't good in manga, but anime made him way worse, since big chunk of his dialogues was just dropped. Even his true motivation was cut.

This is why Season 3 and Reigen need to be adapted.

The fact that Bones didn't label Mob's emotions in the final episode (or in the Mogami fight for that matter) really is a big flaw in a great series for me

>n-no u
Nice argument faggot. I'm not the one asking people to be silenced because they hurt my feelings.

This. Why would you watch two seasons of something you don't like?

>s1 seems good at first, ending sucks but shows lots of potential
>s2 seems great at first and seems to live up to said potential before becoming shit again
not that hard to figure out retard

I agree that both Claw arcs are the weakest part of the manga, good thing they're done and every remaining arc is GOAT

I wonder how many people even understood that he was switching between them.

Some of them like Ecstasy and Courage (that is if they bothered to look up courage because it was never named) are pretty obvious, but I'm sure a lot of the more subtle ones were lost.

I thought both seasons were excellent.

I didn't think anything was wrong with the Claw stuff in season 1 at all. It was integrated well into the gradual build of the story and didn't take anything away from it. In fact it added a lot to the themes of the show.
And the only problem I had with Claw in season 2 was it being rushed unfortunately. Bones should've omitted some other story beats to give it more room to breath. Overall though, the good outweighs the bad in both seasons.

I like Claw a lot in season 1, Reigen's finale is great and it's funny to see the whole scar division, who would each be a multi-episode boss fight in a typical shounen show, just get steamrolled over the course of 1.5 episodes.

World domination arc works thematically but the pacing just isn't right, there are way too many characters introduced and it's difficult for the audience to tell who (if any) of these people we should actually care about.

Giving this arc more room would be exactly the wrong thing to do, it needs to be trimmed down even further rather than expanded.

>there are way too many characters introduced and it's difficult for the audience to tell who (if any) of these people we should actually care about.
this.
Still grate show, though.

Damn, animeonly and I would've wanted that.

Season 1 should have ended with Claw just being dellusional powerless con men

>there are way too many characters introduced and it's difficult for the audience to tell who (if any) of these people we should actually care about.
Yeah I remember reading the manga and thinking the same thing when a bunch of literal who's were introduced at the beginning of the claw arc. It was definitely the weakest part of the story which was why I was initially happy to see Bones kind of skim over it in episode 9, but that only seemed to make things more confusing for anime-onlies sadly.
The only important new characters were the Ultimate 5 and Touchirou, so I wish ONE came up with a better way to introduce them. It dragged in the manga and was confusing in the anime.

I definitely disagree. If we were given more time to get to know/care about the characters it would've been infinitely more enjoyable. I enjoyed the Claw arc more in the manga because Touichirou's character was more fleshed out. The anime could've used this opportunity to expand upon his character even more, and even give us more information about Shou and their relationship, and it would've been so interesting. I'm thinking if they just got rid of the Tsubomi OVA things would've gone over a lot smoother pacing-wise.

>Not loving Reigen 1000% and his speech towards Scar to grow the fuck up
>Not liking Mob's fight against Toichiro, which was the culmination of all the character development he received throughout the season

Like you said, the arc had too many unnecessary characters rather than fleshing out the few that are relevant, too many mini plot points that go nowhere. What was the point of Terada's supposed "betrayal" and his interaction with that one scar from HQ? Cut that and we get another 10 seconds runtime, and so forth. Or in the aftermath, with the BIC bits that go nowhere. That's what I mean by trimming down.

Based Body Improvement Bros. They are literally best character in the series. It's a shame they don't got enough screen time.

Wouldn't be more fair to stay out of these threads if you can't stand criticism? Idk

>Villain who has been saving up for 20 years got outpowered by a kid with nothing but sheer anger

The Claw Arc in S1 is unironically great because all of the Scars, after Koyama's mundane design, are presented as powerful with goofy as shit designs. It really presents well the pure absurdity of "trying to take over the world" and what it represents : no one is gonna follow a bald M. Bison expy, a literal kid, a flamboyant dude using monsters he gives cute nicknames, a chuuni with a toy katana or a literal old man who change his voice to sound like a girl as leaders. When Reigen 1000% all kicked their ass, the very second they lost their superiority through psychic powers, you could actually see them for the whiny losers they are. It gave the whole "superpowers don't define yourself" message weight. They didn't have anything but powers, they were ironically kids with knives.
The Super 5 (bar Serizawa) on the other hand are your very typical "underling band" with "cool" archetype (INTJ plantman, threatening burly muscleman, the nerd, I-Have-All-The-Powers-And-I'm-The-Coolest-And-If-You-Complain-I'm-Telling-Mom Man) but have all the narrative charisma of bricks. They only exist as fight filler.

Oh then i agree. That's kind of what I meant by omitting some story beats in favor of letting the arc breathe. I didn't mean that Bones should've added even more. Just that they might've chosen the wrong things to cut out/focus on. Instead of cutting the conversation between Mob and Touchirou, maybe cut Terada's betrayal joke. Instead of rushing through Mob's 100% emotions in the finale, maybe cut the BIC bit at the end. Instead of including the Tsubomi OVA, maybe include Shou's nightmare OVA about making his mom cry.
But I guess it's easy to look at things in retrospect.

>being a speedwatcher
Neither could contain the power but it went into the broccoli seeds at the last second and saved them both.

Yeah, I'm not going to pretend that I didn't enjoy the Super 5 because I did. They were fun and sometimes that's enough. But it does seem that their function to the plot came before their actual significance as characters. Shibata for the point about muscles beating psychic powers. Minegishi for the Mogami cameo and for Season 3 purposes. Hatori to be Shou fodder. And Shimazaki to display Teru's growth, although someone did mention that a lot of Shimazaki's character defining dialogue was cut and I don't quite remember so I'll have to re-read.
Serizawa is great though. And I guess the Super 5 did need to be stronger than the Scars so I'm not sure how that could've been avoided.

Part of me wishes we had an ultimate showdown where boss and Mob teams up against broccoli
