Every time I see this, I can't help but feel like anyone who disses emissions would make a terrible nen user because they lack any imagination. Here's what Emissions does for you on it's own, and in conjunction with other categories

Solo:
>Your aura doesn't diminish in strength as quickly as other categories when separated from your body
>Since you are controlling pure aura, it can go through solid matter without needing to destroy anything
>long range abilities will sustain themselves far better than any other category
>Emissions allows you to move space itself meaning teleportation and relocation abilities are open to you without needing as many potential conditions for activation.

The big one, these are your nen beasts and stands. Controlled constructs of varying abilities before we even start to add other effects like transmutation based powers

Emissions doesn't fall behind the other categories really. You're closest to manipulation and enhancement so you won't lack for finding uses for your separated aura and you can still get great returns on increasing the quantity of your aura. And Nen beasts are a massive pool of possible abilities, plus powers like potclean demonstrating how curse-like or curse-type abilities that have range are always also useful. I don't get why people think emissions is bottom of the barrel.

She isn’t a conjurer she’s a transmuter. I don’t know how it makes sense either, but it does explain why her enhancement is so great since she’s so close to it.

She's a transmuter by nature and ability. her transmutation ability is the lotions the doll creates that have varied effects like making you feel more rested. Her ability to shrink is something even she doesn't understand as it was borne from an extreme desire. That could be anything from conjuration, manipulation, or even specialization but the story doesn't want you to dwell on that fact.

Same reason why Melody's ability was listed as emissions only despite it having manipulation effects back in york shin. Most times when an ability is classified it's done so by whatever category is most dominant to it's functions. So since the dolls main function is to produce lotions made from aura it's a transmutation ability. We also don't know if the doll is emitted or conjured but it would need at least 3 categories in either case as it's also being manipulated to move.

You can emit and conjure nen beasts so I assume if you want a nen creature/object you just pick whichever is closer to your type. Since Bisky is a transmuter, it’s easier for her to conjure. So while the masseuse IS a conjuration ability, it’s actual ability to heal is based on what Bisky transmutes.

Basically this and even if there were any humans, the chimera ans would way too little and therefore weak to kill and consume humans. Without any nutrients, they chimera ants wouldn't grow to be big and strong.

Moving space is emissions, making space that adhere to rules is conjuration. So teleporting is emissions based, but the mansion itself and the rule that only Knov can freely move from room to room is the conjured part.

Just because you can read an opponents attack doesnt mean you have the strength or speed to deflect/dodge it. A manipulator isn't going to have the same physical capabilities that an enhancer would. And that isnt even taking into account the hatsu of the enhancer/transmuter you'd be going toe to toe with.

Now, you could probably kick the ass of any other manipulator or conjurer, or someone who is just weaker than you physically.

But using this you could also potentially copy abbilities

I mean, sure, you could copy physical abilities. But if you've got a Manipulator power that lets you copy other people's physical hatsu, and those people use Enhancement for them, then you're going to be using those hatsu at weaker levels. Assuming you're a manipulator, you're only going to be able to use those abilities at what, 40%? And assuming you're actually an enhancer who just created a manipulation type hatsu, you're only going to be copying an ability at 40% efficiency.

Either you've got to have a lot of aura or your ability has to have some pretty hefty restrictions to it. I'm not saying it would be a bad idea, but it doesnt seem to play to the strengths of a manipulator-type nen-user very well.

I mean, if it's copying hatsu techniques exactly, then you should compare it to what is already in setting. Qurof has huge restrictions to his abilities. Leo was absurdly powerful naturally. Kurapika has eyehax. Plus, all of them are specialists.

I think that there need to be more restrictions to just touching someone with your hand. Far too easy to accomplish. Just my advice though, take it as you will.

Nen type does matter because it innately affects your aptitude with other categories. Being an enhancer trying to conjure an object is going to be harder than being a conjurer doing the same thing, and if you want to keep up with them you will have to add more conditions/restrictions onto your hatsu.
