>bad guy from Mob Psycho has a similar change of heart at the end
>can't help but thing of Meruem
>it's nowhere near as good
This is gonna happen to me forever, isn't it?

Yes. Hunter x Hunter is the greatest blessing and greatest curse of all.

No memes, why should I watch Hunter X Hunter?

Because it's one of the few shonen worth watching.

It's good, the way the story gets gradually darker is really cool.

Is Gon fucked in the head?

yes

Absolutely

Okay, that's actually the most interesting thing about this show, do they explore this often in it?

Yeah, not heavily until a later arc but you see glimpses of his selfish morality throughout the series.

it's not really explored as in the narrator saying what is going on in Gon's head (there is a lot left open to interpretation), but him doing crazy amoral shit rather than being a typical good boy is very important to the plot many times

Does it explain why he's so fucked in the head? Or was he just simply born that way.

nah. the series is shit without gon/killua best boy combo

He's a unique kid

he got it after his dad

I got tricked into watching it. This show has the worst pacing I've ever had to fucking sit through. It has some 10/10 scenes but holy FUCK does it take a while to get to them.
So many episodes just spent with a character staring into space thinking about possibilities and consequences.
It drives me fucking insane.

He's a kid with a deadbeat dad and an either dead or deadbeat mom. Raised by his aunt as a single mother, he was probably also molested by some of the women in his home town. Meanwhile he aspires to be like his dad who is a "Hunter" which is basically a glorified contract killer. Most of what people confuse for being fucked in the head is just him being a kid. Kids don't have the best moral compasses and don't make the best decisions. Imagine a 12 year old being one of the strongest people in a world dominated by martial arts and you get Gon.

That's the best part
