I know 98 sounds like a lot, but it really isn't when Beastars chapters are only 20 pages long.
Take Kaiji for example, part 1 is 150 chapters and part 2 is 130, yet they both fit in 26 episodes okay.
Or JoJo part 1 and 2, combined they are 113 chapters and the anime adapted all that in just one season, only cutting a few insignificant scenes.
