I didn't realise it when watching Aria, but when reading it I really really love the spooky chapters where Akari drifts into the secret magical part of Neo Venezia that no-one else gets to see so much. Always heard people complain about the cat world stuff but now I love it, I think it really makes Neo Venezia a much more magical place with many secrets of its own.
The shrine chapter from the other day was great too, just the way much like Kotonoba Drive one moment everything is normal and then the next you've slipped into a dream world and know something special is about to happen, it always makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up and when you're reading it you can really take your time to just absorb the atmosphere from every panel and take it at a much more natural pace.

Thanks again for the dump. Definitely another relaxing chapter, I love the setting of the hot spring being inside the dilapidated mansion. Not much I can directly link to Venice though! Other than the little note that while Venice was part of the Austrian Empire (under the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia) following the Napoleonic Wars, it began to decay. Or at least, many of its buildings did as former wealthy families who used to live in the many palazzos either couldn't afford to, or didn't want to keep them renovated. But many visitors to the city, primarily Brits, found such a decay to be almost beautiful in a morose way. I believe one such man was John Ruskin, author of the famous Stones of Venice book. He used to take swims in the Grand Canal!
Beauty with an underlying hint of sadness seems to be a theme that pops up in ARIA, and I think this chapter sells it quite well - with the mansion in disrepair. Sure, it's still in use, still bringing happiness to people... But it's not doing so in the way its construction was originally conceived, I suppose.
Lastly, a peach cocktail in a series set in Venice, I can only mention the Bellini. A very refreshing cocktail that you'll find everywhere in the city. I highly recommend trying one if you're ever in town!
That was your 'is this still going on?' Venice trivia for the dump, and Akira is a pretty fine girl. Though Alicia with a towel on in this chapter sure does give her a run for her money...

Napoleon was particularly cruel when it came to Venice. The best way I can describe it is that he deliberately trolled the shit out of Venetian diplomats while the Armée d'Italie where moving through the Venetian terraferma. Then when the inevitable happened and some random citizens of Venetian soil chimped out against the French soldiers? He promised to be an "Attila to the state of Venice".

I caught up and now I'll be sticking around for the daily threads. The first two volumes (Aqua) were in the comic book section of the library I went to as a kid. It ended up being one of the first manga I ever read, so it makes me very nostalgic even though I never ended up reading past that part. The extra layer of nostalgia makes it even comfier. Starting sunday I'm also going to watch an episode a week of the anime. Thanks for the chapter, OP!

Aria's /u/ doujins do exist. Artists like PenPen Gusa and Raku-Gun, for example, used to do them profilically. Discussion is mostly dead because there's nothing new to talk about, plus Amane accrued anti-/u/ reputation.
