>nothing fills the hole that Monster left >nothing fills the hole that LoGH left >nothing fills the hole that NGE left
Why are there no anime that make me feel like these anime did? Everything I watch can't compare in the slightest and I'm constantly left longing for the feeling of watching a new anime that was as good as those ones.
>nothing fills the hole that Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryouko left >nothing fills the hole that Non Non Biyori left >nothing files the hole that Aria left >nothing fills the hole that Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou left
Why are there no anime that make me feel like these did?
>nothing fills the hole that Naruto left >nothing fills the hole that Naruto Shippuden left >nothing fills the hole that Fairy Tail left
I love One Piece
Tyler White

Just accept that anime is shit.

>nothing fills the hole that black lagoon left >nothing fills the hole that sel left >nothing fills the hole that all the anime i watched as an edgy 13 yr old while crying left
why are there no anime that make me feel like these anime did?
I'm trying to, but where do I go from there? I need something to replace it
Adam Phillips
Lain Texhnolyze Utena Ping Pong Power gap Haibane Renmei Kino's Journey (old version)
Elijah Nguyen
Nothing in my hole for 2 years now and I kinda feel better keeping it unfilled.
Jason Turner
call me a newfag but I really never understood lain
good list otherwise
Grayson Sanchez
Well you've already watched 3/4 of the only good anime. Now the only thing left is jojo pt2
Charles Wilson
I'll fill your hole if you ask nicely, user.
James Cooper
Do these 3x3 faggots even realize that these shows don't compare to OP's in any fucking way aside from being good? Only Utena is actually similar to the three animu OP mentioned.
Juan Jackson
Lain is similar to NGE.
Christian Sanders
>3x3 faggots is this a new meme
i've seen people using this boogieman term in like 5 different threads today and i'm somewhat convinced its just a bunch of zoomies butthurt at the fact that japan hasn't shat out a good a single good anime in the last 8 years
Nathaniel Perry
How about Getter Robo and Gurren Lagann, which I think are a pretty fun parallel and even past and future events of NGE in a weird sort of way.
And Overlord is much more into the comedy and wacky side but I'd give it a try because it does play around politics and the such.
but flcl isnt even good its just braindead entertainment
Hudson Fisher
true. the new lain remake is honestly shit
Mason Nelson
FLCL was a passion project and catharsis for the highly talented writers and artists who just finished making Evangelion. It's a palate cleanser made by Gainax at its peak.
>Rec thread That said you seem to like shows that have enough meat to them to sink your teeth into so I recommend watching Texhnolyze next. Its hardly a pleasant watch but quite the experience
not really what I'm looking for. I want stories that are more grounded, especially like with monster.
Basically I want the story of Monster and the characters of LoGH, with the symbolism and overall feel from NGE
Dominic Rodriguez
not a rec thread, but I will check that out, seems cool
Jordan Bennett
it kinda is though lol, not that I mind, I like rec threads but I also get why the unspoken rule exists Go watch the first episode, I genuinely want to know what you think of it
Jack Lee
Well I wasn't asking for recs, the point of the thread was just to bemoan how shit I think most anime is
alright I'll go watch it, see you in 25 mins
Christian Collins
And it is Gainax at its peak, honestly. It is their magnum opus.
Brayden Russell
notes while watching - lack of speech is really intriguing and helps set atmosphere - telling the story kinda through flashbacks but also in a really unique way - editing is fucking cool, """camera work""" and cinematography are great - edgy as fuck but not necessarily bad as a result - oh THE WOMAN WAS A ROBOT? - I can't help but hear that they use the same sample sounds as a video game I play lol
yeah the whole thing was pretty eeire and I'm not about to pretend I understood it. It was intriguing though, I'll watch more later today
Benjamin Collins
The "zero dialogue" thing was only in the first episode. I think they just wanted to sell the atmosphere and the setting as best as they could. Gets more dialogue-heavy later on but doesn't lose any of its atmosphere. Anyways glad you gave it a shot >and I'm not about to pretend I understood it. Doesn't matter imo, sometimes its just about what the scenes convey and how they make you feel
William Taylor
I know that feel OP. Especially with shows like Monster that are so consistently good for long. Watching Monster took me 3 months. For 3 months I had a great show I was invested to when I came home. After I finished It I was sorta like "Well, what now? Do I go back to watching seasonal trash? I can't go back to that..." You just gotta keep watching more and more. The more you watch the sooner you'll come across another great show in the vast sea of mediocrity and shit .
Caleb Peterson
I get what you mean, but most seasonal shit is literally unwatchable for me. Most times I can get through one or two episodes, but I inevitably give up
Yeah it took me all of one summer to watch monster, and damn did I love it
Jonathan Sanders
I think the reason why they're classics is specifically because they offer something that other anime don't. It's not just the fact that they're good, they simply have a scope that most series don't even attempt to have.
Henry Miller
yokohama was shit
Joseph Cox
>25 KB PNG>nothing fills the hole that Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryouko left >>nothing fills the hole that Non Non Biyori left holy based
Ian Thomas
Texhnolyze is trash.
Nolan Robinson
This is why 'dude just binge it bro' is the cancer killing entertainment. You gotta find your own rhythm and it's fine to watch a few episodes one day, come back to it after a few days, and go at your own pace. Some shows lend themselves to be watched rather continously while some naturally divide themselves into smaller chunks.
David Price
If I binge watch a show I don't remember it nearly as well, and I don't like it as much in the future. If I watched something in 3 days I forget the events and I don't think about the anime much afterwards, but if I stretch it our over a month, the anime kind of stays with me
Jace Howard
Oh I never binge watch. It's just not my thing. I limit myself to 2-3 episodes a day and I can't watch everyday. Usually watch 6-10 episodes a week.. I also always stick to 1 show. I tried multi watching and watching shit as it airs but it's just not my jam. I'm a slow eater.
Hudson Adams
>Nothing fills the hole that poor man's Tomino left Ok

>nothing fills the hole that reading Naruto left >nothing fills the hole that reading One Piece left My library in middle school had a few volumes of both of these. I would read them all the time. I know One Piece is still around but I don't bother following it. These two were amazing for me, it's sad that the experience of discovering manga and anime can never be relived. Naruto's combat astounded me as a kid (though I didn't much like Shippuden) and I just loved One Piece's world. That said, I've read and watched much better things since then, but they'll always hold a place in my heart as an experience that can never be replicated.
no new fun battle shonens desu. as someone who enjoys both naruto and bleach, i feel bored with what's "big" now
Chase Cook
>zoomies It is 3x3 bullshit that is relatively recent. The new people getting into anime are the ones who are desperate to like stuff that is generally considered good, even if it doesn't resonate with them in any intimate level. Hence why those charts always look extremely samey. The people making them really don't know shit about anime and have most likely been browsing Yea Forums for like a year at most.
Jace Russell
>almost any new anime fills the hole that nothing left
If a show isn't enjoyable or memorable when binge watching it's just not a good show. Only type of show I can understand is pure episodic stuff. But like what kind of logic is that. "Oh I enjoy this show but if I binge it I cannot process it enough better wait a few days even though I enjoy it and wanna see more." Retards
A consensus is bound to form and you're not any smarter for putting more "obscure" shows on a pedestal instead. Id rather have people honestly admitting to enjoying mostly whats generally considered good than fags like you who think your favorite anime somehow tell your life story or something.
Blake Hill
The closest thing I can think of right now is Hellstar Remina. I get a similar vibe reading both. Try some old seinen?
Liam Sullivan
Found the zoomer. Grow up kid, adults have better things to do than sitting on their ass binge watching some shitty TV show for hours on end like a zombie. Literally cannot comprehend watching a show, taking some time off to think about it, and then continue watching it later. Keep stuffing streaming shit in your mouth; companies are glad to keep selling you it lol.
Juan Morris
It's one thing if you don't have the time or mood to watch a lot. But to suggest that you somehow comprehend something better if you only watch an arbitrarily amount of something is retarded. And if you have to do it you are either dumb or the show is bad.
Luke Barnes
It's not, retard. Your brain retains information in chunks, and studies have shown zoomer shit like cramming never works for long term information retention compared to a disciplined, regimented process of information absorption. Binging is literally no different from cramming.
Carter Mitchell
For me, nothing fills the hole that Yamato 2199 left. Not even 2202, because it's shit, and thus only makes the hole worse.
Well, I enjoy anime in a different way to you. There's no need to call me a retard for that. I just find that watching something over a longer period of time allows it to stay with me for longer, which makes sense, because that's how long term memorization works.
>nothing fills the hole that Haibane Renmei left >nothing fills the hole that NieA_7 left >nothing fills the hole that Texhnolyze left >nothing fills the hole that Despera will left
I unironically watched flcl, cbb and pingpong to fill those holes, but at the end manga was the only thing that could remotely be enjoyed and even now i can't find anything good this days... Maybe i should just find a gf or start seriously studying something...
Gantz is kiiiiiiinda similar to Blame! in terms of vibes. Although it does feel noisier than Blame!. >flcl, cbb and pingpong None of these are similar to Blame! In any way, honestly. At most you could say Bebop kinda is.
Charles Clark
Started watching Galaxy Express 999 recently
It's super dated, but interesting
Tyler Adams
Since I saw it's getting an anime, I'm waiting on that instead
Andrew Stewart
You could try getting your own taste.
Aaron Collins
cringe based
Sebastian Nguyen
Kill yourself. Read Kinnikuman reboot. Good shit.
William Lee
>Eva-shaped hole Is that the one that bears a striking resemblance to the word PLEB?
Samuel Robinson
shut up bitch
Jonathan Allen
Haruhi gave me depression when it ended. Fuck it for doing that but i guess its nice than anime out there still exist that can do that.
Chase Hill
:(
Jaxson Anderson
Yeah Gantz its good already read it, those anime were recommendations for OP, I'm beyond salvation at this point and I live with the constant pain that there won't be anything as good as Blame! not even from Nihei...
Elijah Cruz
>nothing fills the hole that Darker than Black left with urban action series (maybe add in supernatural to that) Noragami kinda comes close in some aspects
Lucas Russell
You just became a real hard ass JC Denton type, the anonymous shitposter of the 21st century.
Ian Reed
I don't know what that means but ok
Isaiah Martinez
What a shame.
Josiah Cox
Is it though? Thought it was cancelled
John Allen
Things are a lot more streamlined and efficient, getting some weird shit green lit now is probably harder if it doesn't follow current trends. Probably why all AAA movies are capeshit now as well.
Aiden Parker
I hope not. I just saw it on MAL. Wouldn't surprise me if it was cancelled though, art isn't profitable nowadays. Only corporate trash makes it through
Connor Gutierrez
The good news is the perennial interest in this classic piece of literature means at some point in the next 10,000 years, if humanity hasn't wiped itself out, there will finally be an adaptation of RotTK that isn't complete and total garbage but for the writing lifted directly from the novel.
Angel Carter
Its called "starting with the best and being left with the rest" you retards. You should never consume all of the top10 bullshit on whatever media or genre you like, because everything else left will pale in comparison.
You should space them out, this way there is still time for you to enjoy middle of the road stuff because you still dont know better. The moment you have saw all the best that the genre has to offer, thats it, you wont enjoy the thing as much until the next masterpiece comes, making your life worse from now on as a default
>but what if i die before watching X! Then thats that, no one has experienced the best of EVERYTHING, you will miss out on some stuff, just live with it and you will be happier for it.
>whats generally considered good This phrase is pretty volatile, because "most people" who watch consider Boku no Hero Academia, OPM, and other shonenbait are the majority of the community, and a load of them consider what 3x3 people usually mention as bad.
