There’s such a lack of a evidence of the brainwashing that the question of proving it doesn’t could be countered with asking what proof there is that it does have such an ability. That kind of statement would never hold up without some actual proof and they just eat it up

I also hate her character but for different reasons. She is just a really badly written villain. I mean, she is ok when she acts as comic relief but it is really hard to take her serious.

You don't question nobility and especially not the royal family if you want to keep your head on your shoulders in a medieval society. In this case it would also be like questioning the church since the shield hero is considered to be the ally of the beastmen, a people who were recently at war your kingdom.

I do not know. Ask the author. It seems that his story is at its best when it is just a comfy adventures of merchant and his harem of lolis. But he simply can't write competent antagonists. All of them are either cartoonishly evil or just braindead retards. Only Glass so far was looking at least somehow competent but it is hard to tell what kind of character she really is.

And given that the king was shown to be unable to kill them due to the fact that the kingdom needs the heroes, hence why Naofumi couldn’t be killed in spite of accusations of rape, they’re in a higher position to be able to question these things. Worst the king can do it inconvenience them

That bit comes purely from the fact that he’s the Shield Hero. Even if the King were to fume at any of the other heroes questioning him, he wouldn’t really do anything due to the church as was shown when they stood up for Naofumi when the king tried to take all of his reward for the first wave
