10 years later im still so impressed how well hiromu was able to plan out a long running story, stick to a well formed plan, and wrap it up neatly as intended at the end. with manga series it's pretty much otherwise unheard of for anything like this as far as I've read/heard. hokuto no ken COULD have been kind of like that if it could have ended with raoh but that mostly awful retcon as fuck sequel had to happen
