Yeah, you should give it 3 eps. It's not an amazing high budget adaption and the source is merely decent (the concept and world setting is pretty fun, the actual work is adequate and combined they're decent but it's not remotely as good as it could be in the hands of a better author), but it sounds like it could fall on the right side of the balance for you. But note there isn't any godly uptick at the end where suddenly the whole anime changes (which is rare anyway), it's pretty consistent. If you're not feeling it by halfway through might as well drop it or just quick read a few volumes of the manga if you really want to know what happens.

It's more redemption then anything given what she did. And she gets no life prison, a decent job, and a loving big titted successful government mama out of the deal. Frankly I'd say she's pretty happy with how it all worked out in the end.

It's not remotely her specialty, and unlike a regular soldier she can't really be separated from her gun or run out of ammo in the normal way, as long as she has magic power its fine (and if she runs out entirely she's pretty fucked regardless). But it seems like it'd be wise to give her something to fall back on just in case, any magical girl is still super strong and can make at least a basic energy shield after all. Granted being a high rank in anything should still put you above an average person, you still learn bare minimums of not punching/kicking horribly and wasting all your energy, build up some callouses/impact familiarity, and you're probably in somewhat better shape (I only ever got to the most minimal black belt in a tae kwan do as a kid so I know zero about anything beyond that). But it wouldn't surprise me to learn some underground actual fighter with years of real violence under their belts, let alone a trained person in the military, and a weight/size advantage, could beat the shit out of a lot of martial artists.

The Disas include both duh, just like in the recent chapters we're seeing early examples of humanity's experiments with magic bioweapons. There are actual Disas sentient demons, those goblin guys, and agents and such, like that cute chick who traded for live human captives (and that one that got tortur-questioned severely by Kurumi), spirits, and on, just like humans. Then there are various controlled-type possibly sub-sentient soldiers, linked magic bioweapons, magic bio-type surveillance systems, and so forth. Presumably they use magic biotechnology for a lot of things that humanity uses inorganic electrical technology for. "Computers" may be handled by synthetic spirits, rather than artillery cannons they have bombardment magic bio systems, etc.

So of course they're a sentient alternate dimension race, it's just their whole "technology tree" has a different foundation and different physics than ours. They (and the combined alliance of the spirit realm, not much details on that yet though) should probably considered an equivalently experienced, technologically advanced society as humanity, with full combined-arms and military doctrines and such, except it's all oriented around their own laws of physics.

An army division makes the decision to evacuate to/invade Earth, and the point is made that it's like convergent evolution, they've arrived at a lot of the same issues as we have but through different means. They have heavy armored assault, but rather than MBTs they've got enslaved flesh eating unicorn things and spell shields and force scepters. They have air support and anti-air weapons (basilisk cannons), long distance bombardment, all sorts of stuff you'd expect though from a radically different perspective and with different strengths/weaknesses in return. Example given was aircraft: humans develop single crystal super alloy turbines running fossil fuels (and we've experimented with nuclear even) that then make thrust. The "elves" would make an engine pod and anchor a small gateway to an alternate universe with different laws of physics or into the photosphere of a small star which would then generate the output.

Agreed all around. At the end of the day Asuka has simply seen too much and herself done too much to go nuts over this. She's killed plenty herself, even if they were generally clean kills. She knows its the government in charge of all this, it's not as if Kurumi went rogue here, and the people they're getting info from or seeking to control have committed horrible crimes.

She obviously won't be happy, but I also agree that her personality is 100% the type to take a lot of that onto herself (which in turn will no doubt upset Kurumi which might spiral a bit).
