I prefer Shin Mazinger though. The story goes into less generic directions while TTGL just ripped off Getter Robo's plot and added some shonen tropes to it.
The only thing TTGL has going for it is the animation because no character in it gets any meaningful development. The mecha fights are one note an lacking in choreography.
