>would rather serve a dying democracy than a thriving empire
What the fuck was his problem? His skills were being wasted with the FPA and he should have known it.
Would rather serve a dying democracy than a thriving empire
He's only capable to think in a bipolar way, just like the shit series he's in.
He knows the thriving empire won't survive its leader's death. Conquering the galaxy for a society so clearly doomed to fail within a generation or two would be pointless.
Who says the leaders death is the end of the leader if you could...make some changes to the philosophy of the scientific establishment...
He should have mimiced ancient rome and took the mantle of dictator for the time of crisis. Afterwards he could have given power back into the republic.
He would have just ended up getting bogged down in the Alliance's backstabbing politics like his predecessors, and he lacks the political clout to be effective.
His skill as a historian wasn't excatly in high demand in the bustling forward looking Empire.
Beyond that I don't think Yang thought much of as himself as a military officer. He destested all the death he oversaw and orchestrated. He never tried to change the course of history or whatever, he just tried to do his job and get the people he was responsible for protecting home safely at the end of the day.
Asside he pretty much admitted in his once face to face meeting with Reinhard that his objections to the young Kaiser's regime were largely theoretical, he approved of Reihard as a person and as a leader but having been raised in a democracy he wanted self-determination and the rights and resposibilities that come with it, in other words, he was accustomed, indoctrinated maybe.
Given how many citizens of the empire he killed and how many in the military just wanted something to give them a good fight, which Yang gave them many a time, I don't think Yang would have much of a future in the Empire.
You're pushing a viewpoint that isn't necessary.
The Gaidens straight up imply with the story of Bruce Ashbey that Yang'd just be quitetly assasinated if he took that path.
He might have still tried had Jean Robert Lapp and Jessica Edwards not died. Those tho seemed to have an assertiveness and drive for change that Yang lacked.
Yang was ideologically apposed to such ideas. I think alot of modern Americans would have similar beliefs coming from a nation with such a long tradition against such things its not an easy thing to just throw away your beliefs you were raised on a floppy and a whim. The FPA would have such feelings but kicked up to 11 coming from a much much worse Empire being around longer and fighting that empire for centuries. Yang believed in democracy good and bad.
necessary?
A MAN CHOOSES A SLAVE OBEYS
lol
good boy, good ol store keep dog
that's a meme I haven't seen since...
i havent watched this yet but serving a struggling democracy rather than that blonde nigga no matter how good he is will be the right option, autocratic states are a ticking timebomb until a shitty leader ruins everything, at which point endless coups and bloodshed will happen
Yang is Jesus. Reinhard is the devil. Reinhard tried to tempt Yang with promises of power, but Yang's spirit remained strong, and he gave his life to save and protect the human race.
Quality edit.
He was killed by a retard.
You are an edgy fedora tipper if you think killing Jesus was a smart thing to do.
If he was willing to abandon democracy, then he could have just killed Reinhard when he had the chance and become he himself the dictator rather than serve under one.
And Romans were retarded from lead poisoning. It fits.
'That blonde nigga' doesn't support hereditary monarchy and makes it clear that only someone suitable for the position should take charge after him.
You're a naive dumbass if you think it's any different in the """democracy""".
>only someone suitable for the position should take charge after him.
How is that suitability determined? For Reinhard, he came into power not because he was the best at governing, but because he was the best at fighting. Perhaps his successor will also be the best at fighting, and will enjoy finding ways to crush the people beneath his boots.
>You're a naive dumbass if you think it's any different in the """democracy""".
Life is pretty different in the democracy though. They never enslaved any dissidents and exiled them to forced labor camps for the rest of their brief lives. Abusing the citizens is more of an imperial thing.
The FPA did send the children of commoners to the wars while the elite didn't suffer from it though. But you are right the FPA didn't abuse the shit out of its people like the GE because they didn't really have the backing of the law, the army, and the philosophy the state was founded upon.
Well yes, I would still support Trump's America over China.
Jesus ran around chasing and beating money lenders and merchants, not making himself subservient to them.
Schenkopp almost takes the role of the two you mentioned but it seems Yang never as receptive to him compared to the two you mentioned. It's interesting to think how the series would've turned out if they and others like Silberberch stayed alive, instead of the latter part of the series becoming 'Oberste*n tries to kill more of Reinhard's friends' simulator.
Julian said he was going to continue to fight the empire when the series ended. how did it go?
Julian put up a last resistance at Iserlohn just for the sake of gaining Reinhard's respect, and he achieved his objective.
After that the age of heroes ended and it became just a political game, with Julian trying to convince Reinhard to reach a compromise between the latter's autocratic views and the former's desire for a more free society.
