What series have they even done recently? That one weird pregnancy anime?
Owen Green
Has any other studio ever crashed and burned harder than Gonzo? People know why Madhouse has gone downhill with Masao Maruyama's departure. Gainax lives on in the many different offshoots that all of it's talented folks have created. Ghibli is dying with Takahata and Miyazaki just a s afew examples. Wtf happened to Gonzo though?
Lucas Ross
What? Gonzo still exists?
Andrew Reed
>weird pregnancy anime >no actual pregnancy in the anime They had the potential to tap into every weeb maiesiophile out there to be the first show made for their fetish that wasn't some cheap looking clusterfuck of a hentai but they didn't deliver anything on the fetish.
William Cooper
>goes bankrupt twice
Evan Hernandez
I thought Gonzo died ages ago?
Landon Turner
You realize that the currencies are actually equal, right? Only difference is that the Japanese don't have cents. If they did, it'd be 1:1 conversion rate.
Jeremiah Lopez
Akiba's Trip was such a great show
Ryan Baker
They were bought out by ADK.
James Hall
It did, this is just a zombie that people refuse to let go.
Elijah Cox
They made shit. Went bankrupt. Bough by chinks and now they make worse shit. Good riddance.
Isaac Hughes
I watched it to support them.
David Thomas
>check wikipedia >they released 4 series last year
i had no idea. no wonder they're going under
Andrew Howard
They made a few gems between all the shit, now it's just shit.
Charles Jenkins
7seeds will save them just you watch
Colton Roberts
Nurse Witch was fun and the tomboy won.
Leo Carter
No, it's not. It violates the lore of the games.
Thomas Wood
This show was fantastic. It also worked as S2 of Sore ga Seiyuu!
Jackson Smith
What have they even made in the past 3 years? I can't think of anything at all? I'd assumed they already died again
Adam Wood
Who gives a fuck. It was fun and Mayo was extremely cute
Brandon Baker
>caring about games >caring about lore It was great you faggot.
Aiden Ortiz
>Gonzo >ever again making any profit after "00
Adam Cox
Unironically looking forward to this. Maybe getting some of that Netflix money will help them.
Nolan Howard
Asatsu-DK owns 84% of Gonzo Asatsu-Dk was bought out by US firm Bain Capital with 87% shares
The $30 million debt is about the same debt that madhouse had when it was bought out by Nippon TV with 85% of it's shares. The difference is that madhouse recouped all it's debt with HxH 2011 anime being in enormous hit for the TV station. NTV also owns Tatsunoko Production with 54% and Takara-Tomy owns 20% of Tatsunoko.
Mason Cook
Imageboard I'm usually on they are separate, ,but I forgot how shitty the website has gotten since 05
I know and I can't wait but there's never enough murata and if they're going out then at least with a bang please The pv looks much better than the key visual here. I lost all hope after the studio and director got announced but the pv got me looking forward to it again.
They came back only to make horrible shit anime, what did they expect?
Ethan Allen
>People know why Madhouse has gone downhill with Masao Maruyama's departure. It was Maruyama who killed Madhouse. He demanded high quality anime all the time despite Their series were always underperformed in the market.
Not him but something about assistance in trying to slur an American VA with false claims about sexual harassment leading to people being sued. bla bla bla Would be nice to see them burn as well.
Charles Harris
I hope they die.
Juan Wood
i absolutely adored Kiddy Grade and Kaleido Star back then.
Their best works are pseudo-originals. Their talents can't shine through when they're constrained by an existing story.
Xavier Williams
>Kids these days don't know the things you had to do to see any anime back then.
We were elite. Top quality SVHS deck, Laser disc player, LCD projector, the works.
Adrian Peterson
This doesnt loo bad. Looks like the guy who did this also did the character designs for Last Exile. Do newfags really hate the aesthetics of anime from the 2000s?
Andrew Phillips
According to Wikipedia, they have been having money problems since 08-09 years
They are doing 7Seeds this year. It’s a great manga but the anime looks terrible from its promotional art
Logan Russell
>cool manga it's based on >netflix broadcast >cast full of popular seiyuus >but it looks like ass I don't get it. Shouldn't they put more effort into such an ambitious adaptation? I thought studios were supposed to make their netflix series look nice.
Surprisingly, I've come to like RinRin the most. Her voice is really soothing. Ichigo has shown good range, but it's hard to say with how dead her career has been. Rie just fills a niche well and that's an easy way to make it.
Pretty sure Gonzo is just a yakuza shell company at this point. You know, since they pretty much got revived by pachinko.
John Mitchell
Gonzo made some of my favourite pretentious and ambitious but not-quite-there anime original shows. I was sad to see they went bankrupt, sadder still when they were revived, and now beyond caring that they are dying again.
i thought animes need to make about 1 million bucks in earnings to break even unless they're sponsored by cygames? that means they needed to sell at least ~14 000 BDs to break even, if each BD cost 70 USDs.
That's what happens when everything you make is a shitty vidya adaptation. They should switch to making moeshit and package hentai OVAs with the BDs. Like Madoka with full penetration.
Tyler Walker
They made some pretty good anime back then
>Full Metal Panic S1 >Gad Guard >Gankutsuou >Kaleido Star >Kiddy Grade >Last Exile >Samurai 7 >Vandread >Witchblade
