I just finished watching this and it was crap; good concept and they did nothing with it. How did it even get popular in the first place?
Haruhi is crap
>How did it even get popular in the first place?
Same reason any anime gets popular, it had a pretty girl that dumb otaku wanted to put their penor in and an MC with so little personality they could imagine themselves in the show's situation instead.
>he watched without the Yea Forums subs
The character Haruhi is crap, but Yuki isn't
Wrong, Haruhi is a miracle, her show is kinda eh
I bet you watched it in chronological order.
>watching airing order
>not watching in LN order
Secondary faggot
watch the movie clown
>justifying 12 hours of mediocrity for a somewhat good 1 and a half hour payoff
>Disappearance
>1 and a half hour
I forgot how long it is. Doesn't change the fact that watching 28 episodes of schlock just to get the payoff of a decent movie is just not worth it.

Based user exposing good truths.
>Light novel ended in 2011
How did it end?
It didn't
>finishing 12 hours of a great show with a perfect 2 and a half hour payoff
ftfy
>Kyon
>little personality
>great show
Dude I get it you think Haruhi is super cute and charming and you really want her to be real so you could spend time with her, enjoy life together and finally escape your meaningless existence into a life of fulfilling mutual affection. Your facile, escapist obsession with the show is not a mark of quality.
I was trying to be generous there.
Again,
>Kyon
>little personality
You obviously didnt watch the show
It might have just gotten lucky with the timing. It aired back in 2006.
Nostalgia and a cute female MC. It’s a bit like Yotsuba and Miku. I’ve never gotten it myself, its a whole lot of noise over relitiely nothing.
I did. You have no personality, user.
>How did it even get popular in the first place?
A lot of it had to do with the meme dancing ending.
HaruxKyon is OTP!
You're fucking retarded if you actually watched the show and still claim Kyon has no personality. Especially if you watched the movie. I guess its as expected for a retarded zoomer.
Getting angry over someone pointing out the fact that "literally me" is not a nuanced character isn't an argument.
>I guess its as expected for a retarded zoomer.
I guess the irony of using total newfag terminology and then accusing others of being young completely escapes you too.
>It might have just gotten lucky with the timing. It aired back in 2006.
Consider the mid 2000s was the height of harem-esque VN adaptations so Haruhi came around poking fun at some of their tropes
Also, maniac pixie girl liking and referencing male otaku stuff was pretty damn potent among fans
It was popular in its time, and remained influential for years afterwards. That influence has more or less dwindled away, but it remains a classic due to the way it impacted the era. I personally like it on its own merits too.
*nibbles her sandwich quietly*
Oh, it the daily "I'll pretend to dislike it so I can have a thread about it" post.
It's trash, but faggots are obsessed with otakubait and have been for decades.
to be fair Kyon really is "Literally Me: The Self Insert"
You answered your own question.
Good concept. But back then you couldn't binge-watch it and find out it goes nowhere. So it was popular until people started to get tired of it.
It got popular by not being crap.
Your taste is the problem here.
Secy lead girl who dressed in a bunnygirl outfit and the show had a cute dance. That's honestly what drew in the majority of the anime's fans.
Popular LN series with solid scifi/mystery plot + unique characters was made into anime by Kyoani in its prime, complete with great seiyuu.
Disregard Haruhi
Notice Yuki
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
To be fair, you need a very high IQ to understand Haruhi.
Haruhi so ugly that you need to post fanart to justify your waifu
I've only got into anime about a year ago and of the 20 or so series I've watched in their entirety, Haruhi is the only one I've dropped. Made it to episode 13, but it got boring.
It's my guilty pleasure
filtered
I have watched over 2000 shows and Haruhi is the best.
Anyone who dislikes Haruhi is a contrarian, a faggot, or both. It basically serves as a filter for people who have shit taste.
>good concept and they did nothing with it.
Hey, at least you didn't waste your time with the novels where they basically just repeated earlier stories with minor differences and continued hinting at mysterious events and never actually did anything. Not to mention basically doing the same exact "development" with Yuki like a dozen times.
>somewhat good
It's one of the best payoffs of all time, actually. Great movie. Superb movie. Perfect movie.
I don't think anyone liked Haruhi. Actually, she was the least likeable character in the show.
Kyon is what makes the show good.
I liked haruhi
she turns into a bitch in s2 tho
same i think it's boring crap but well
It's not really a great concept, either.
You'd be wrong to think that
that's because "S2" is chronologically in the middle of S1
I liked both if them
