What does borrowing/lending chest mean?

In sumo, to 'lend your chest' is to be someone's practice partner. There are many specifications to it beyond just being a partner, but you don't need to know about any of that for the time being. Point is that it's not purely literal, which is why Tokugawa is surprised when Baki gets into the stance for actual chest-lending.
