Probably Dragon Ball Z. Cell was the first thing on TV I was scared of.

Imo while in hindsite it's shit. The concept of the first half is pretty good.

I was kind of annoyed when I learned it was basically the anime version of a Keebler Elves cartoon

Pretty good in spite of that, though, for a kids anime

>first anime
Define "first anime".

If you mean the first anime I was a "fan" of, that I actively followed and that I realized was an anime - and that introduced me to Japanese animation: The same as yours, Sailor Moon.

If you mean the very first anime I ever saw airing on TV in my childhood without kjnowing anything about anime, that'd probably be "Mitsubachi Maaya no Bouken" (Maya the Bee, Biene Maja).

first anime I saw as a child other than pokemon obviously was Naruto and the first anime I actively watched knowing what anime finally was, was Lucky Star

Saban's dub of Samurai Pizza Cats. It was part of a Sunday morning kids' variety show, so I didn't even know it was ''anime''. Dutch people know which show I'm talking about.

I know I watched this as a kid.
I don't remember anything about it.

2nd after DBZ

DBZ

The Guyver: Bio-Booster Armor (1989). Little kid me was a surprised when a awesome cartoon popped up at end of my bootleg VHS of True Lies. My mind was blown that day.

Chobits!

probably digimon, can't remember anything before that off the top of my head at least.

first one I actually went out of my way to watch subbed online was Love Hina as a horny teenager, back when you could just watch anything on youtube as long as you were willing to watch it in 3 10-minute chunks.

Either this or Heidi, but I enjoyed doraemon far more than I did Heidi

It was 1992, I was 10 years old. I found a listing of strange videos in a mail order catalog I found at a small comic convention. I took the money I've been saving up to buy a video game and risked it all on a movie called Akira. I guess what followed was pretty much a religious experience. I fell in love. After that Ranma 1/2, Project Ako, 3x3 Eyes, Vampire Hunter D, Robot carnival, Kimagure orange road, Macross DYRL, Bubblegum Crisis... I was sending blank VHS to fansubbers as quickly as I could earn the money to buy tapes/postage and holding showings at my house to convert my friends.

this. while it was played in the mornings before cartoon network took it for the afternoon in the 90s.

There was some show on TV when I was a kid called The Littl' Bits, and apparently it was a dubbed anime, so I guess that?
