Why would anyone learn a useless language?

I am an anime but I only know dub language.

I ask the same thing to everyone who learns a language that isn't english and so far no one has given me a decent answer.

The west is gonna die soon, so better start learning a new language when you flee to East Asia.

English and Japanese are the only languages I have any use for.

I am slowly ascending to become an anime, decent progress on Japanese but I don't have anyone to learn from/with in person anymore so I'm at a standstill

Same here. I have the opportunity to learn from real flesh and blood people but I'm simply too autistic to go out and talk to them.

It's so weird how often this response comes up. The only worthwhile languages are the business languages, because everything in your life needs to be 100% business and productivity. That's why we're here on the anime board of Yea Forums.

My community college offers Japanese classes but I'm honestly terrified of the kind of people that would be taking those
I started using duolingo a bit ago but stopped because I'm also learning ASL right now and it was hard to keep track of both that and what I was learning in duolingo

From my experience there's always going to be some weird individuals taking Japanese classes but there can also be some pretty neat people. It's worth the risk.

Been learning for about 2 years by now. Barely passed N2 and have stagnated a little in studying. I glad I know just enough to read h-doujins comfortably.

I can read hiragana, katakana and some of the more common kanji but my grammar is pretty subpar and I don't really make an effort to learn nowadays.
