Its been more than a Decade and bones is still trying to figure out what made Eureka Seven popular. Does Yea Forums know why the original series was so successful?

deconstruction of a genre
it's a good story where the romance is the ADDITION and not the focus. Thats why the romance feels good in this series. I think of it in the same way as Spice and Wolf. The characters relationship with one another feels good and are not retarded harem style encounters
Well both of these are wrong
An interesting universe with a simple, engaging mystery. There was really nothing that needed to be said after the series ended, and yet they've spent the past decade trying to bring this shit back up again.
The old calling someone wrong without saying anything else because you know deep down you're wrong and don't want to get called out for the idiot you are.
It may seem cliche but it had heart and a genuinely positive message. Yeah some characters could be fucked up but the story never escaped the chance to show us that underneath their broken exterior they were good people. The story was just as much about Eureka as it was about Renton.
Bones's problem with every single new iteration of Eureka is that they use harem antics, over focus on the male lead without giving the female lead any time any time to shine, or they do the opposite. And most importantly they keep trying to be needlessly gloomly under the delusion that they're making the series "more mature".
Nah you're just full of shit
Forever one of my favorites.
>Bones's problem with every single new iteration of Eureka is that they use harem antics, over focus on the male lead without giving the female lead any time any time to shine, or they do the opposite.
This isn't remotely true
Make it just Eureka and Renton and their happy life together after the original and that would work for a sequel.
Every time I think I liked this anime I remember the children. Ruined this for me.
Literally remove them and it would go from a 3/10 to a solid 8/10 but who cares what some autismo thinks.
Simple. Fans never really cared about anything other than the central romance of the series hence why Kyoda seems overly bitter about the reception of the series that came after. It reminds me of Darling in the Franxx where the director had so much ideas for the world surrounding the cast but all the fanbase cared about was romance shit. As products the sequels tell a no more worse job of a story compared to the original which was just as convoluted but kept people watching because you wanted to see your favorites get together and have a happy ending which the others lacked.
Ao had harem antics in place of actual character interaction between teammates. And was also overfocused on Ao.
The Pocketfull of Rainbows movie was overfocused on Renton with Eureka turning into a literal retard.
I haven't seen the first Hi-Vision movie yet but I bet it'll suffer from overfocus too.
>Ao had harem antics
There was no harem in Ao dumbass.
>The Pocketfull of Rainbows movie was overfocused on Renton with Eureka turning into a literal retard.
>overfocused
What the fuck are you talking about?
It's more that his ideas aren't really interesting or even very good. That's why they always fall flalt.
That too. I mean reading up on the rewrites the original had it paints a picture on why everything after it were the way they are and wh they all seem to have a bittwersweet ending to it.
Last Exile was pretty good too and also was followed up by a shitty sequel.
E7 being like 50+ episodes helped. It just shows how much they cared.
It was a massive fluke based on their original plans for the ending.
You aren't even making sense. Franxx sucked and fans have no input on how shows turn out regardless.
Read slower next time you illiterate jackass. Franxx's bad reception amongst its base was because the main couple had a bad ending they didn't care that the show was shit as long as they came out alive. E7 is the exact same way.
It shouldn't have been 50 episodes
The first episode is beat for beat copying FLCL.
I'm not saying the entire show does that. But re-watch the first ep of both. It's like they copy pasted the same storyboards but with different characters.
The music.
I don't care what the base reception was, that show sucked ass and it had nothing to do with the ending. It was literally garbage.
And E7 should have had more episodes showing a nice comfy epilogue, fag.
FLCL hardly started the "mysterious girl stumbles into unknowing MCs life" trope
>And E7 should have had more episodes showing a nice comfy epilogue
Yeah that's what it needed...more episodes
What's it like being empty inside?
Are you really defending that garbage anime?
You're defending E7
Thought you were talking about E7. Sorry, user.
The absolute state of a fanboy. All they do is say "you're wrong" and insult you. They are unintelligent and incapable of having a discussion without their brain spazzing out
What's it like being empty inside?

It had a fully realized world, multiple romance couples that can attract most people, incredible action sequences, and amazing art. The characters themselves were also fantastic, but we all know that it wasn't going to get an audience on its own.
>The characters themselves were also fantastic,
Kek

Great animation, good ost and a really well made happy ending
No, re-watch it.
Dude waiting at train tracks
Town ambience
"this town is boring, nothing ever happens"
Suddenly, big thingy appears, zomg
it is beat for beat like the exact same episode. I know these tropes are old, but it's uncannily similar.
>and a really well made happy ending
kek
A rei that actually grew a personality.
This. It's almost like the original served as an antithesis to Evangelion by ending on a positive hopeful note, whereas every iteration afterwards serves to undermine or flat out undo that.
It was always shit
this
It seems as though he actively dislikes the happy ending and positive message of E7, but that happiness is why E7 is so popular.
Good characters, an amazing sound track, interesting world, and a Godtier ending. If you weren't grinning like a fool when Sakura started playing, the Nirvash started shitting rainbows, and Renton went to save his girl, then you are mentally broken.
Japan loves their mecha. I personally only enjoyed code geass. The only good part in eureka seven is when the protag is with the secret agent couple.
Soccer episode.
It gave them an actual, unambiguously happy ending. Bones keeps trying to ruin it by making it bittersweet when it was a great ending, because mature=unhappy.
>I personally only enjoyed code geass
that's fucking sad
Franxx is nowhere near to E7 in term of plot, characters...
>Franxx's bad reception amongst its base was because the main couple had a bad ending they didn't care that the show was shit as long as they came out alive.
I think it's more that they setup the idea that the kids were going to rebel against the authorities, only for them to turn that on it's head and introduce aliens at the very end blowing away a lot of the build up. Oh, and the main couple dies.
>Does Yea Forums know why the original series was so successful?
A lot of things. It had a plot that was out there, but thought-out enough to not just feel like bullshit and actually hit in a satisfying way. Everything on a technical level was steallar. All the characters were well thought-out, and there was a lot of good chemistry between them all, and the fact that everyone has a connected history adds a lot. Plus it's shitty parts are towards the middle and don't really affect the plot, so they're naturally just forgotten about and don't drag the rest of the experience down. Plus, even when it does get really depressing at times, it does a good job at giving you enough hope for things that everything hits quite well on an emotional level. Shit, even the side characters has well-written stories and hit emotionally. You don't see a lot of shows with as good a side-couple as eureka seven with dominic and anemone.
All the sequels failed because they thought they could make a bunch of nonsense and slap a bit of nostalgic imagery and it would work out, which is obviously retarded, because the original works because it was a well though out and well executed story with a lot going for it. You can't cheese that.
honk honk
It was good. And it had cute girls.
Amen.
>It shouldn't have been 50 episodes
It's funny you bring up Franxx, because I think that that Franxx might have been better if it had 50 episodes. I would take some pacing issues that consist of a few slow episodes for an overall developed story instead of rushed plot points.
As a former franxx fanatic, it has a lot of problems. It blew it's load in episode 15 and never got it's bearings back from there. It's astonishing how much the overall quality of the show changes from the 1-15 stretch to the 16-24 stretch. Overall, everything in episode 1-15 either made sense, or at least had the potential to make sense. Franxx started systematically dismantling itself after episode 15. 16 felt weird since we never saw the characters really clear the air except in flashbacks, which makes everyone's attitude and relationships really jarring to watch. Then it destroys it's worldbuilding completely in episode 19, in a shitty flashback episode that answers questions best left unanswered with the shittiest possible answers, and then kills the rest of it's plot in episode 20, where it abandons all the themes it had been carefully setting up (rebellion arc) and turns everything into a big old clusterfuck. It abandons plot threads it picked up, and yea, then the ending is really unsatisfying. Though even saying all that, i can still say i like and can recommend the first 15 episodes.
Franxx was doomed since the begging, it was just a poor waifu bait show.
What a stupid post.
t.franxxfag
Still mad the only reason people watched the show was a hot girl ?
It's a shit show, and your posts are of extremely poor form.
Sorry, it seems that your butthurt is still present.
I dont even know. I thought it was shit
Nice bait.
I still miss Aniki
here's why. youtube.com
I mostly agree and still love Franxx's main couple but most of the side character episodes were fucking shit, with only Zoroome's and the bath one being good and they killed the city one by making his memories disappear. Shit was so fucking stupid I nearly dropped the show before episode 12 got me back into it, and by the end I didn't care anymore too and just wanted it to end.
There was no reason at all to care about the side characters because the first 6 episodes were mostly about Hiro/02, so by the time the show remebers it has a side cast, Hiro and 02 are so far ahead of them in development that you just want to watch them, and not waste time on the show trying to pretend it develops it's side characters.
