Just finished reading the entirety of Berserk for the first time.
All I have to say is wow.....
Is there anything that even comes close to this masterpiece?
It just saddens me looking back at how long you longtime fans have waited for the previous underwhelming chapters of the last decade. But it seems like the story is just picking up again and I can only imagine the suffering waiting years to see the outcome of these arcs.
I don't like Guts since he's a cuck, so yeah, there are better manga than Berserk. Vagabond is one, but it's on hiatus since 2015.
Kevin James
Idolm@ster is better than Berserk at this point at least they can create consistent content
Chase James
Hiatus hahah more like droped
Jaxon Reyes
Guts isnt a cuck, its only cuckolding when the female enjoys it and Casca was raped and took no pleasure in it whatsoever.
Cooper Smith
>Berserk >masterpiece As much as I wanted to like Berserk, the story went downhill after Golden Age. Everything became stagnant and nothing interesting happens anymore. Guts and his crew just dont have the charisma to be entertaining and the story itself is stuck in endless filler. Not to mention Miura's artwork is slowly getting worse to the point that it's laughable, and he went digital which makes it look shittier. Togashi is improving with his art and is constantly shaking things up in his manga, unlike in Berserk.
Hunter x Hunter explores more mature and dark themes than Berserk despite the more childish visuals. I guess this is why I prefer HxH. I prefer classy intellect over edginess.
Casca was dripping wet and she was tongue kissing Griffith. Berserk is basically a cuck fantasy.
Logan Ross
Had a good kek,you whispertards bring good entertainment to this board.
Aiden Harris
Griffith forced her mouth open and stuck his tongue in, she didnt tongue back at all and any woman will get wet when there is insertion to a degree, doesnt mean she enjoyed it.
Nathan Torres
Why didn't she bite his tongue off? Also, I remember the panel clearly showing that she was wet as fuck. Not just wet to a "degree". She clearly enjoyed it way more than when she had sex with Guts.
Mason Brooks
lmao, holy shit
Levi Mitchell
She is in a shocked state and doesn't even move on her own. Considering she repressed her entire personality and identity to deal with the trauma, on top of that there are also multiple points in the manga where she flashes back to being raped and freaks.
I came in late to berserk, so this is my first hiatus since last chapter and I'm already dead inside.
THE best fictional world imo.
Ayden Thomas
Tolkien would like to have a word friend
Mason Fisher
I read those in high-school
kinda gay to me, sorry.

>More gay than fairy witch world with magic lolis and chestnut elves

Are Berserkfags really this delusional? HxH is better than Berserk in most ways. The characters have actual depth beyond just "hurr me badass, me kill monster" and it has deep and meaningful things to say of the themes the series covers, unlike Berserk which is "hurr me angry, me want revenge!".
Moreover unlike Berserk, HxH is able to seamlessly weave in and out of genres, going from martial arts tournaments to mob wars to MMORPGs to the epic rise and fall of an entire civilization to politics and a new era of exploration and colonialism. Anyone who is a fan of manga owes it to themselves to read this masterpiece. 100 years from now Berserk will be just another obscure edgefest like Gantz or Tokyo Ghoul which are generic battle shonen at their core, while HxH will still be discusses in universities as one of the most ambitious undertakings in human storytelling.
This speaks to how dense Togashi's writing is with ideas, and HxH is at the moment at least three times as thick with plot and intrigue as Berserk was at its height. To give you a tangible example of this, currently in Hunter x Hunter we have a small conflict about the succession struggle of a single kingdom that is being represented by THIS graph. This is the level of storytelling that Hunter x Hunter is operating on. Berserk wouldn't look out of place in any shounen magazine serializing at the moment, while the absolutely ingenious narrative of HxH keeps reaching further heights in thrill and storytelling.
>Guts = ass fucked by a black guy, cucked by his bestfriend, needs a Naruto power up to fight high tier apostles >fairy islands >mermaid islands >JRPG party with elemental powers >saturday morning cartoon pirates >magical loli with fanservice scenes
I'm going to miss HxH retards when their manga comes back from the hiatus, you always make me laugh with your "soft seinen" bullshit
Elijah Richardson
>I read manga because of the mature and dark themes. You need high IQ to understand this masterpiece Holy fuck, Imagine being this much of a pseud. Read some actual books if you want to act smart. Manga is purely for entertainment.
Sebastian Sanchez
Based. Reminder that 80% of Berserk is just Guts killing monsters with his big sword.
Carter Turner
Interesting, the little I've read just made me dislike the guy,he's like violence incarnate. I'll give it another try then.
Jose Gutierrez
I kinda enjoy people who's so stupid they think reading comics makes them smart. The scary thing is, it actually might...
Ryan Miller
To tell you the truth, I don’t buy manga, I buy books. I’m not saying that in a snobbish way. I buy classics - Tolstoy, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, James Joyce, Tennyson, Rilke, Goethe, William Gaddis, Julio Cortazar, Ford Madox Ford.
I put the HxH volumes on the same shelf as them. Proudly. There’s a feeling that resonates deeply with me - that the storming of the palace onward is capital-A ART. That the series’ main focus is to render humanity and nothing more or less. The way all the extremes of human nature are displayed in the Chimera Ant arc feels like reading a sort of contemporary Odyssey. It is epic in the original sense of the word -- something majestic that shines light on the nature of living.
>he's like violence incarnate This is the whole point of the arc you're reading. When he thinks the old man is about to attack him it's his own bloodlust being reflected back at him (the old master explains this to him in pretty much these words). Takezo's aggression is unwarranted and unneeded, and further emphasised when he spends a night trying to carve a Buddha statue but in the morning sees he has carved an asura instead. Overcoming this aggression, escaping the shadow of his father and finally struggling against the spiral of death (the more people he kills the more famous he becomes, the more famous he becomes the more people will come after him, the more people come after him the more people he kills, the more people he kills the more famous he becomes...) are what the series is about at the end of the day. Of course he realizes this slowly and pursues pointless battles for a long time because of it.

>Joyce You've been memed, my friend.

I remember a Whisperchad telling me about his love for Camus. When I asked him what does he like about his work, he told me a long story about Descartes shich can be briefly summed up in a sentence "I've learned what empiricism is".
>Is there anything that even comes close to this masterpiece? Yes anything that is actually finished, a work no matter how great is ultimately worthless garbage if it is not finished. And considering his pace and age he'll probably die before it is finished.
Charles Peterson
>a work no matter how great is ultimately worthless garbage if it is not finished. I disagree with this on a fundamental level.
Elijah Reed
Depends on what you didn't like about it. If you didn't like the protag then you might like later parts since he changes a lot over the course of the work, not to mention a second protag shows up who is very different from Musashi and gets almost as much panel time
If someone dislikes Takezo for being a violent asshole I fail to see how they'd like Kojiro more, he's even worse but never gains any awareness of it because nobody can explain such lofty concepts to him.

>just finished reading the entirety of beserk Hello timetraveler. How are things in the year 2203?
Parker Hall
What about his friend? He seems pathetic
Landon Mitchell
He is and he spends his life being pathetic because he has delusions of grandeur but no willpower to put his shoulder to the wheel and accomplish anything.
Ian Robinson
In 2101, war was beginning.
Cameron Long
>Implying producer isn't actually daddy D
Benjamin Moore
I suppose, although some might prefer his innocence and purity, focusing on the fact that the intent behind his actions is not malevolent, even if the actions themselves are. Also I might be wrong about this since it has been a while since I read Vagabond but doesn't Kojiro only kill a bunch of people out in the woods after that one battle and then spend most of the rest of his time being a womanizer and playing with sticks?
Ryan Lewis
All of these, and also: >Blame! >Samurai Executioner >Dorohedoro >Eden - it's and endless world
Jacob Powell
Yeah, he'll stick his dick in anything. But his obsession with fighting is beyond that of Musashi's.
Robert Lopez
Seconding Blame! and Dorohedoro
Kayden Wood
Dorohedoro is great.
Hunter Butler
Berserk is outdated now. It was even outdated when it was serialized in the early 90s. Sword and magic manga was at it's peak in the 80s. Berserks only saving grace now is the comic art style, which isn't that rare now, unlike in the 90s when he's one of the few fine arts program alumni that went straight into manga.
Gigantomakhia could have been his new genre breakthrough with the loli/wrestling manga but he still can't let go of BErserk.
Isaiah Butler
>a work no matter how great is ultimately worthless garbage if it is not finished. Phoenix would like to have a word.
Jackson Clark
user nobody in this thread has ever even heard of Osamu Tezuka.
Jose King
I second this. But Togashi's art leaves a lot to be desired.

So is his story

Unironically this.

Official English release soon.

Unlike Berserk which is one long story, Phoenix is a collection of several stories that are in themselves finished. So no >Phoenix would like to have a word. It would not because it does not fall under my statement.
Caleb Sanders
what was your favouirte arc?
