Eva

Alright you fuckers I watched end of evangelion.
>still pic related
Is there any logical sense to what actually happened or were they just cramming as much trippy imagery into it as possible. It was good don't get me wrong but I don't fucking understand what the hell happened. Also did the last few episodes even mean anything. I actually have a shit ton of question desu

>Is there any logical sense to what actually happened
no

There was a plot. NERV gets raided, Asuka gets killed and Third Impact gets set off before Shinji rejects it and pull Asuka and himself out of the tang. That's the gist of it.
As for questions, ask away.
this thread has been claimed for Rei

Search the archive, this shit has already been discussed to death

yes it makes sense, lots of detail was packed in, the last few episodes you can think of as happening inside peoples minds

it wasnt just gibberish, it was the ending Anno wanted to air but didnt have the money for when the series was airing

youre gonna have to do some research to find out the full picture though

One question is what was with the whole killing asuka thing, when did the whole "pathetic" scene happen chronologically
no
ok, i think i just have to digest it for a bit

when everyone's minds were fused together in the tang, Asuka saw what Shinji did in the beginning of the movie, and what she says is just a reaction of that

As for why he chokes her, probably one of the most open ended questions of the series, theres no truly direct answer, but one of the easier explanations is that it is essentially a reality check. Shinji just exited a world where there's no pain, and he rejected living in that world for that very reason, so to check if he;s actually in the real world, he inflicts pain on Asuka

>chronologically
you're going to have a bad time getting anything out of the series

Either that or he'd rather be alone in his new world at first before realizing he's too weak to do it.
After all, a major theme of Eva is trying to live independently but actually needing connections with other people.

I meant the part where theyre just both in the kitchen and he's yelling "help me" and then he starts flipping tables and shit then chokes her. did that actually happen
also what are the rebuild movies

The part in the kitchen didn't physically happen, but it was happening mentally.
Either between Shinji and Asuka's souls, or it was purely in Shinji's head against his own projection of Asuka since instrumentality hadn't started properly yet.

>What are the rebuild movies
Shit and non-canon

What do you mean? Isn't there a new one coming out next year?

what said, although it could be possible that it did happen at some point when they were living together, but I lean towards that it was all mental

one phrase that stuck out was when Asuka essentially said, "I hate you because you remind me of me", which seems a bit too candid for a projection of her, so it may have been her mind vs. his

As for the rebuilds thats all in the air, the storyline in those is a bit strange right now, and I dont really wanna say anything that might spoil, but some people (including me) are hoping that Anno pulls the threads together nice and cohesively in the finally coming out final piece of the rebuilds

Ok interesting
>As for the rebuilds
I see, but you would recommend them, no?

yeah i think theres something to them, but i dont wanna get my hopes up too much, EoE was basically a perfect 10 for me so I'm not gonna try to hold it to that standard, but yeah watch the rebuilds, starting after watching EoE makes sense

>also what are the rebuild movies
Rebuild 1.0 is essentially an enhanced movie recap of episode 1-6 in the main series, with just a few cryptic alterations.
2.0 starts diverging in story from canon Eva, and 3.0 has gone completely off the rails and the story is nothing like the main series.

Personally didn't like 2.0 much, and I view 3.0 as an abomination in both story and presentation (WAY too much CGI is used), but that is just my opinion.

The end fight scene in 2.0 is at least worth the watch though.

ok thanks

also another question what the fuck is the AT field

Reminder

Attached: 007B.jpg (1051x444, 265K)

Basically in Evangelion all living things have a soul.
Souls naturally generate AT Fields. AT Fields are a barrier that allow one to remain mentally separate from others (and is apparently necessary for the body to maintain physical form instead of dissolving into Tang/LCL at any given time).
Instrumentality in EoE was caused simply by taking away everyone's AT Field.

Angels and Evangelion produce AT Fields strong enough to form tangible physical barriers against attacks.

The Rebuilds are just an alternate universe cash-grab. First is just the first 7 episodes remade, second feels more like Gun/Diebuster with an EVA skin, third is complete garbage.
Even if you wanna see them eventually, you should process NGE by itself a bit more. Wait at least a month.

I see
Alright, it'll take at least a month

I'm just reading the wiki, there's so much information that you miss from just watching it once

that's because most of it doesn't really matter at all, except as atmosphere and window dressing. the characterization is the main thrust

am i a brainlet for wanting to know all the lore for some reason though

Since we're asking questions about the series in this thread, I have a few myself.
First off, how does Tokyo-3 work? I understand that it's right ontop of a cavern with a forest at the bottom, but why is the city upside down? And why do the buildings fall into the forest when the angels destroy them?
Also, since I just finished watching 1.11, what's up with the wacky shapes that Ramiel takes in the Rebuild movies?
Which redesigns do you guys like the most, if any?

yes and no tbqh

Tokyo 3 is built above the geofront, the giant cavern that you see. NERV's headquarters is located at the bottom and this makes it the most heavily guarded location on earth. When the angels attack, all of the buildings drop down into the ground to get out of the way for the eva fights. They end up hanging down into the geofront and it gives that upside-down city look.

shit is 20 years old go browse geocities for answers faggot

Evangelion was a mistake.

Fuck the guy who wrote the whole alt reality pseudo plot twist it was all a dream lmao xD, i was literally shaking for the 3 minutes it lasted
but i did enjoy genki rei and tsundere asuka

Attached: coffee.jpg (1950x510, 298K)

my impression was that he was still in the state of mind that he was in in the imaginary kitchen scene, what he was feeling then continued after they woke up in reality, but she acted differently than his projection of her and made a gesture of affection, which snapped him out of it

here's a hint for you

Rei can only assume the form of the dead

Attached: diaons.png (1582x942, 1.4M)

then who is rei

Space magic. "Instrumentality" was a FAR (First Ancestral Race) program to convert souls into an easy to transport form and bring them to a spaceship for seeding another planet when the old one is about to go boom or that's what it was intended to be. SEELE got hold of the instruction manual and thought being in that state was Heaven or the next stage in human evolution so there goes the whole series.

amazing
how do you know that (the FAR part)

Evageeks wiki. It's implied nowhere in the show but it's all explained in an obscure PS2 game.

I didn't think for a second he had just exited, washed up on that beach, and was noticing Asuka there for the first time, and I see less of that impression all the time. Like even if those are naturally occurring planks stuck into the ground, he was around long enough to hang Misato's pendant on one. Before the details about draft endings came out and called them graves Shinji made. This probably wouldn't be where Shinji first landed either if he started in the sea and looking Rei in the giant face, he would have crossed those mountains getting back to the crater where Tokyo-3 used to be.
