前略
Because of this chapter, I had Inarizushi for lunch. Agedashi tofu is my favorite. I'm not saying I'm a kitsune, but I'm not going to turn down offerings either.
This is based on a real place too. I've never seen any spirits there though. Just a ton of tourists. The old lady here talks with a Kansai accent, just like they would at the real one.
Catchphrase Counter:
It turns out I missed two Hahis yesterday, so adding them in we're up to:
Hahi: 23
Ara ara: 22
Momiko: 15
Kinshi: 6
>I'm not saying I'm a kitsune,
That sounds just like something a fox would say.
Thanks, OP.
Thanks for the dump again! One thing I quite like about ARIA is how low-key scary it can be at times. This, the flashback to the early days of Mars' colonisation, the cat café... It adds this extra layer of fantasy on the already fantastical setting, and really nicely contrasts to the otherwise idyllic portrayal.
Unfortunately not much I can give you in terms of Venice trivia with this chapter. Suffice it to say, there isn't such a Japanese-style island in the lagoon! But there are plenty of abandoned and isolated islands located within boating distance of one of the most famous cities in the world. Out near Burano and Torcello, you can get a beautiful if eerie idea of the isolation and barrenness of the unsettled island. And that's before you hear about the islands with abandoned monasteries or mental hospitals on them!
That was your unwanted and unnecessary Venice trivia for the dump and, once more for the record, Akira-sama is best girl!
Thanks OP
I think that's something the anime handles better. Maybe because they have control over the pacing.
Yeah, that's true. The music and ambient sounds help a lot too - though I think some of Amano's pages can have an impactful starkness to them. One I think of is the one with President Aria in a little boat, surrounded by several cats. Really, really eerie.
there is a burnt down abandoned mental hospital on one of the prince islands across Istanbul too, why are islands such spooky building magnets.
Only weirdos think building on an island is a good idea. Then they tend to get abandoned since it costs so much to keep them maintained.
I can't speak for Istanbul, but in Venice's case it was just easier in most cases to just abandon a place that no longer served a use, and let it slowly and quietly fester in the lagoon. It's especially handy to build things like quarantine hospitals on islands far away from the city, that are easy to abandon just in case.
Cute fox
Venice user, I always like hearing from you
Thanks! And, well, if OP doesn't mind, I'll keep trying to add something in the threads. I'm a just a guy who loves Venice, and after a dear friend introduced me to ARIA a while back it was just a match made in heaven, really.
i'm going to pick up some aburaage on my way home and make an offering of inarizushi for you in absentia.
>if OP doesn't mind
I don't
If you want it to be extra effective, my real favorite is kitsune udon.
Why do they still have cable cars that go up to the floating island when they also have spaceships and magic levitation technology?
It's more scenic
Thanks as always, I wonder why youkai moved to Mars. The Earth became to skeptical for them?
For the same reason they still use corded phones. Neo-Venezia has a lot of inconveniences according to the old man in the first chapter.
Why do we have cable cars when we have helicopters?
Is there some kind of Japanese pun behind the foxs wedding and the sun shower?
I don't think English even has a word for when that happens.
are you the yotsuba user? are you really going to dump another manga? if yes, I love you.
Not a pun, and there's no clear origin. There are references in art and literature going back a few hundred years and it's probably been lost to time.
See hyakumonogatari.com
The Yotsuba user quit almost 6 months ago. I took over and have been dumping daily since.
>The Yotsuba user quit almost 6 months ago.
I see it was the time I was banned, fucking damn.
Where does the time go?
you will have to make do with soba, because i don't have any udon at home.
It can't be helped.
