I don't really know the details, but they had 8 months of development time, which is double of what Kanno had at C's Ware. He probably felt pressured to release something. If they had added routes to the second half it would have taken a long time to finish too.

Just had a quick look through the first episode. The animation is more or less on-point, but you can really tell the animation was done by feel. because of how generic VN / LN adaptation-like the art style is. I mean, they're the studio that did Da Capo, Mayo Chiki, Papa no Iukoto, Island, Fortune Arterial, etc. I was kind of hoping that they'd aim for a slightly more mid-90's style.

To put it more succinctly, the remake doesn't change much from the original game's script. In fact, it's mostly the same, down to the lines themselves even.

Also forgot to mention, the Sega Saturn version doesn't really censor much aside from the sex scenes, which are still technically there but way more subdued (In fact. There's even some of the hentai cgs in there, just cropped and/or covered up with clothing. The remake actually removes some of these CGs and edits the script too to make it more tame. ).

There's only one real puzzle in the whole game. The rest of it is essentially path choosing, but you do get to carry items to use on things like a point and click, but you're pretty much going to know exactly when to use them.

Well that episode was really good, from the perspective of someone who hasn't played the VN. Only thing I didn't like was the outfit of Takuya's teacher, can we at least have some semblance of realism? Looks like shit anyway, not pretty, just trashy...Anyway. Mio and Kanna are really cute. Yukki was likeable in his own way. And Takuya doesn't seem like an anime character cliche, more of a normal guy who happens to be a sex god than a "muh based NEET genius impressing women with his secret powers" or "guy that every girl is in love with because he did something nice for them in kindergarten"
I did play Ever17 and this seems like it might scratch some of the same itch so to speak, so the story seems promising.

Most people avoid VN anime. They know most of them end up being terrible and no one wants to risk it with a long 26 episode series.

It's an old story and the animation is kind of cheap.
