Escanor is literally the only reason to read anything further but the quality of both narrative and art has deteriorated really badly.

Acnologia forced the heroes to do a timeskip to not get nuked by him and even the main antagonist was scared of him, Yhwach fucking razed Soul Society, killed the strongest guy on the soul society side and beat the shit out of the MC.
Meanwhile the DK sat in a pit in hell for a billion years and then showed up just to get relentlessly owned by Ban and Mel.

I wouldn't call Yhwach disappointing at all. He wrecked absolutely everyone on his way and MC jobbed to him like three times, including one time straight after hyped power up. He was defeated only by efforts of two most broken characters in the manga (Facebook and Aizen) combined with major asspull (Uryu's arrow). And even then it was hinted he is not completely destroyed yet. Overall he had a good run. Even after his defeat, he still remained by far the strongest being of Bleachverse.

Five more chapters for the epilogues and vol. 37 will be full or something like that. So it should be done in mid-May. That's pretty accurate-ish.

Merlin was turned into a trivial character and pushed aside for the shitties sin Ban. So, yeah...I think this end is fitting for an overall mediocre series. Unless the author pulls some major asspull and now Dragons or Nephilim are the true big bads.

If the character were to be handled correctly, then yes, he should have ripped everyone appart when close fighting as THE INCARNATION OF POWER. That could have lead to interesting developments on fights, like how Chandler shut him down calling true night. There were always methods to trap or beat him without fighting (Perfect cube, Garan's commandment, Demon King's The Ruler skill, etc.) and it was nice to see how he was inmune to some things because of pride (Estarossa). Nakaba was a lazy fuck and just let him be overpowered by the sinner and THE ONE is now a shit tranformation below Meliodas Assault mode.

Your argument is how he structures his stories, not the stories themselves he actually writes. It's TRUE that other writers like with HxH can change the structure of how they write arcs, but to a lot of people the actual story itself and the characters that fill them are more important.

Take the video game arc in HxH, sure it's way different than the other arcs in the way its organized, but as for a story itself it's really boring even compared to other anime that are "stuck in a video game", with the only good part being the dodgeball fight.

True OP uses the same Structure all the time, but that's moreso a writer sticking to what their good at, the actual stories and characters that fill those arcs are some of the best you'll find in shonen.

Yhwach was not a bad villain by any shonen standards, it's just he is really outshone by Aizen from the same series, who came earlier and was more meme-worthy. So people feel the need to shit on Yhwach simply because he wasn't the first major villain of his manga.

To be honest, Aizen had a pretty generic "suave bad bishie" appearance. Yhwach had by far more interesting and visually striking design.

I have yet to read a shounen manga with an actual good ending.

Shounen authors can write a story, make characters that are interesting enough, but can never wrap it up or end it properly. They always solve ALL THEIR problems in the final chapter and it doesn't matter if it makes sense or not.

The problem is the authors hype up certain things and just completely either get carried away and can’t realistically deliver on it, or they ignore the things they set up.

Pandora Hearts had a satisfying ending and overall was a masterpiece, although I'm not sure if it is really a shonen in strict sense. Wikipedia lists it as one, at least.
