Spoilers.Patching/Cobbling Together. It starts out with what seems to be Subaru asking a 14 year old girl if she knows his name. She answers in the negative. Scene changes to Subaru enjoying mayo with all his tower friends, having a picnic, before Shaula jumps in through them all. the only food actually set out is for Shaula and him. The others are hallucinations. Brainghosts. On his journey he meets Otto's brother, who he knows he met once before. They talk a bit before Subaru orders Shaula to kill him. Then they go back to the tower for Subaru to read his book.
Scene shift, Echidna is telling Otto and Reinhard that Subaru's gone crazy and is killing everyone to restore his memories. Subaru floods the Pristella, and now has Freddie, Roswaal, and Petra in his brain. Most brain ghosts are surprisingly nice and cooperative. He has Shaula snipe Garfiel, and personally talks to Otto. One of Subaru's eyes is dead, and his hair's gone white. Otto says he should have gone after Reinhard first, but Subaru says Reinhard is low priority and the whole point of drowning everyone in the city was to get Otto. The rest are just a bonus. Because when he asked his brain ghosts, they all told him his main support was Otto. Shaula then kills Otto. Reinhard confronts him, but Subaru tells him he needs to go save Felt from the flood. Sgaula mentions he reminds her of Reid.
Subaru then continues the murder journey, piecing himself together bit by bit from their memories. Reinhard is on his trail, and finding the villages Subaru has destroyed and shit. Subaru has one last conversation with Shaula, explaining that after they kill Reinhard, she'll have to die too. So he can have all the books. Subaru talks to brain ghosts a lot. They are his friends.

He lost everything after he was isekai'd in Arc 6. Have you been living under a rock? In the IF, he's murdering people for their books to try to reconstruct his identity. Rem is never once mentioned, and that kind of stands out as a conspicuous absence.

Essentially, from Subaru's perspective, it was like he was transported from the convenience store into the Pleiades Watchtower, which is where he is in arc 6. All of his memories of the Isekai are gone, but his memories of his own world are intact.
Which begs the question, was Subaru really transported to the capital city of Lugnica in volume 1, or did he just lose his memories prior to that?
