The First 3 episodes are probably the weakest part of the show for some people. But yeah, the animation gets better after.

I think 1 and 6 are better, but a proper OVA of 4 would blow everything else they've done out of the water. Granted, the problems with this adaption probably had more to do with corporate interference than the production staff, so Boogiepop may just be doomed forever.
