I vaguely remember hearing that the first HS series got a lot of funds from the city the anime depicts. Not sure if it's Tokyo, but half of the series seems to take place near that one location, you know the one with the glassy skyscrapers that are plastered with video ads and the bridge.

This was somewhat unique show.

The most interesting part of Hand Shakers were rival teams, in this one they didn't really do much, if anything, with new rivals (except Okuike and Seba). Instead in was all about fanservice for the fans of the original with bringing back the old characters back into action (the fans of Hand Shakers, what the fuck am I talking about). The ending made it worth it though, I liked how they resolved the whole situation. Especially since in anime the end is usually the weakest part.

Yeah W'z is surprisingly very different than the original Handshakers. I'm not sure which one I like better.
