Looks good to me

Shounen toddlers need to be gassed.

ashita no joe isn't the BEST sports manga, but other than that it's fine

I'll have to agree, especially on the HxH part.

I do not watch or read enough shonen to have a valid opinion

>this thread again

>rurouni kenshin

???

Fucking retards

>ashita
>blues
Literally no one here has read those, replace it with slam dunk and nisekoi.

>replace it by other shit no one has ever read

I mean, Slam dunk is fine but Nisekoi?.... stfu you fucking idiot

What's the best sports manga then in your opinion?

The whole list is ironical and designed to spot newfags like yourself.
>doragon booru

If you weren't born when this was airing you should get out of this fine forum.

Heh Okay

>The whole list is ironical and designed to spot newfags like yourself.

Then I'm old enough to be your dad, son.

Watsuki's own comments in a number of interviews about how historically-accurate the series is.

Interview at AnimeExpo 2002 convention :
>Hmmmmmmm, Rurouni Kenshin started as a short story, so I didn’t do much research on it, but in the year and a half between the story and the start of the series, I spent a lot of time reading [books about Meiji]. I did the manga because I wanted to draw kimono and swords, so don’t count on all of the details to be completely accurate. Also, I am a big fan of the Shinsengumi. The model for Kenshin was one of the old hitokiri of the Bakumatsu. This man was an assassin and slayed. He had a tough life, and in his last years he started to repent for all of the killings, but he kept his will and was executed by the government. So he is not very well respected in Japan. Some moves are based on actual moves. Sanosuke’s fuwai no kuwami is just an exaggerated double punch. The other half of the moves are created by him swinging his sword around in the privacy of his own room. A third category pays homage to his favorite shows like Sunrise Showdown. Shishio’s final move is just a big-ass homoro dama.

And there are more stuff to it, you can just google it for yourself.

>YYH

Toguro and...
...Sensui? The kid who saw guro porn and decided to slaughter humanity for the price of it?

Nigga I better be wrong

Best evil organization is the Akatsuki. Btw will there ever be a Rokudenashi Blues anime?

Yup, found the retarded newfag

Stop it retard. It only uses a historical setting. There's nothing historical about rurouni kenshin. Real life characters, events, not even the swordfights are realistic, nor is the whole battousai and "reverted blade" thing (which doesn't exist) nothing. And it even takes some liberties in the time period.

You are confunsing a manga that uses a historical period as a setting to actual historical accuracy. It has none.

Please stop embarrassing yourself.

>it has no actual historical accuracy because i say so!!
you are either baiting or just plain retarded, i even showed you an excerpt from one of his interviews and there are many more you can just look up for yourself

>Best evil organization is the Akatsuki.

The list is fine.

if this wasnt bait there would be sections for best gag manga and drama, which should obviously go to Nichijou and Aku no Hana respectively

Replace DB with Black Clover

I'm an actual historian, retarded.

What is historically accurate about this you fucking braindead idiot? The AUTHOR is a source? Because he said so?

Even though a bunch of it is made up?

Fucking idiot.

A fucking interview with nothing from the author means nothing you fucking retard.

Tell me how it's historically accurate when none of the characters exist, none of the events happened, and there are things that don't exist in real life. Fucking idiot.

>it has historical accuracy because I said so!!!

You don't want to trust Yea Forums. Trust me.

If Kenshin and the prequel were accurate it would have took in place during the Boshin War, a highly westernized war that would be the final civil war in Japan and made way for the Meji Restoration. The scenery looks more like Edo period most of the time. Some dumb villian dude says something like "The age of the sword is over" or something, but he was right because the age of the sword used in war ended when guns bring victory. The only thing historical about the setting was the Sword Hunt that was treated as a comedy gimmick, groups like Obiwaban or such were in fact Government personnel instead of terrorists.

This.

Hahahahaha

>Watsuki reveals in his “Secret Life of Characters” pages that many of the characters are based on historical figures. There are at least twelve characters with historical ties. Of the main characters, Himura Kenshin, Sagara Sanosuke, and Saito Hajime, are all based off of historical figures.
>‘‘ Himura Kenshin’’ is loosely based off of Kawakami Gensei who was an important hitokiri (assassin) during the Japanese Bakumatsu revolution. According to Watsuki, Gensei was slender and small and could be mistaken as women, hence Kenshin’s feminine appearance in the series.
>‘‘Sagara Sanosuke’‘ is based off of Harada Sanosuke, the captain of the 10th division of the Shinsengumi. In his description, Watsuki claims that Harada Sanosuke was among the top 5 “best-looking guys in the Shinsengumi.”(WatsukiV.2p048)
>‘‘Saito Hajime’’ is apparently a real person in history. As Watsuki said “Model, schmodel…Saito’s a real, historical figure. That being said…I’ve altered him a lot to suit my own needs….” (V.07 p166-1994) The character of Saito also uses the real Saito’s favorite battle move, but Watsuki invented a name, “Wolf’s Fang”, which made it sound more appropriate for the manga.
>Ōkubo Toshimichi was an influential leader of the Meiji Restoration and is often described as one of the three founders of modern Japanese society. He was assassinated on May 14, 1878 by Shimada Ichiro. In Rurouni Kenshin, Okubo Toshimichi asks Kenshin to assassinate Shishio Makoto who is threatening the Meiji Government. Kenshin, however, wishes to uphold his vow to never kill and is hesitant about confronting Shishio. Unfortunately, on the day Kenshin was supposed to tell Okubo his decision, May 14, Okubo is assassinated by one of Shishio’s men. These incidents push Kenshin to leave Tokyo and head towards Kyoto where Shishio is waiting— starting the Kyoto arc of the series.

If you were a historian like you claimed, you would know these kind of things. Now do us a favor and kill yourself.

Grand Blue

I think the Boshin war was a little earlier. Kenshin story starts in the Bakumatsu which I think it's directly before the Meiji era but I understand Japan was in constant civil war around those times so I wouldn't be surpriced if the Bakumatsu was just the Boshin war or an extention of it.

ippo. dont denied it

>impressive world building
One Piece is shit tier mate. A series with better world building would be HxH at this point, given how it can seamlessly establish all the shit that happens in its universe.
>two of the greatest written villains
This feels like a category just to appease YYHfags. Replace it with best art, put the first arc of Bleach there.
>Grandfather of Battle Shounen
Kinnikuman, fuck off moralfags

And as an addendum, replace Best Evil Organization with Best Mystery or Smartest Story just to put Detective Conan there. Worst dub names would be applicable, but DB exists.

The fact you have seen only Hokuto no Ken on this picture means you are fucking retarded.

>most creative design and fights
Objectively flawed designs and asspulls aren't creative.
>best fight choreography
Just because it has monkeys shouting and characters punching harder doesn't mean it has the best fight choreography.
>most complex battle system
It is a pretty simple battle system, which is really disappointing because the author has to rely on asspulls even though the system itself is so simple someone with a room temperature iq could completely understand it.
>two of the greatest written villains
Not even close.
>impressive world-building
Not really, Oda just makes up as he goes most of the time, and the worldbuilding is average at its best.
>greatest sports manga
I think its pretty good, but It's definitely not the greatest sports manga.
>historical accuracy
Rurouni Kenshin has done a lot of things right, and historical accuracy isn't one of them.
>finest delinquent
Just like in AnJ's case, its good, but not the finest.
>best evil organization
I have to agree.
>grandfather of battle shounen
Yep, nothing to argue here.

What about shoujo shounen like Sailor Moon and Utena?

Have you even read Dragon Ball?

Attached: VegetavsRecoome.jpg (513x9968, 1.5M)

Do you even know what choreography implies when illustrating manga? DB did have the best battle choreography out of that entire list at least, hands down. Good Lord, you're such a little bitch newfag pleb I bet you immediately assumed people were talking about anime (an objectively dumbed down and simplified medium) when you saw the list.Toriyma's ability to convey action has been noted by several mangaka working on every magazine you can think of, it's not something a bunch of faggots on Yea Forums or DB forums made up.

the best one is black cover because it's about how a guy who works out can easily beat up all the magic nerds

You are 101% correct

>animeonly
Also, see>but the main character is boring as shit and everyone interesting is just a fucking specialist which is the authors excuse to make whatever shit up they want
This makes it sound like you didn't read the manga and just skimmed the dogshit 2011 anime,

Yes Bakumatsu during Samuri X. Kenshin during Menji. So technically he participated in those conflicts, but they were heavily implied to be anti Imperial and evidence that there was heavy Westernized involvement both military and economic industry before the Shogunate finally dissolved to the Emperor in wood block, watercolor, and photography.

People always post this single example, but it's not even the best in Namek alone. If I wasn't such a lazy asshole I'd stitch together Goku vs Piccolo Jr for people to appreciate Toriyama's unironical peak.

Yes, because dashing, punching and kicking in a linear fashion is really good choreography right?

DB is probably the only anime/manga that i'll watch until old age but you have to be realistic

Attached: 1553533154699.jpg (366x300, 64K)

Post good choreography

The reason that is used most often is because it's relatively short. Since we're on shitchan, we only got a 4mb limit, over on betterchan I can upload audio webms of when the anime adapted and improved certain fights, like Goku vs Kulilin and Yamucha vs Tenshinhan.
>Yes, because dashing, punching and kicking in a linear fashion is really good choreography right?
Interesting strategies and movement are what make up good choreography.
Fuck off underage, you probably think choreography means "look how cool this technique is!!111!11"

Attached: vlcsnap-2018-10-21-23h28m34s946.png (640x480, 359K)

It's a good list, but I think the descriptors are arguable and unnecessary. I mean there's more to each of these. I don't most think people gravitate to Kenshin for the historical setting for example, or that the main takeaway from FMA and YuYu are the villains, etc. All those titles earned their spot and endured the test of time for a buttload of reasons, there's no need specify and put them in neat little boxes.

>one piece, hxh and jojos winning the only important categories
sasuga.

>In linear fashion
As opposed to non-Euclidean fashion? What kind of retard are you? alone directly contradicts your point since it made use of the fact that characters can fly to display mobility in a way that was basically never attempted at the time.

Reminder that Togashi is the only author that has 2 of his works on this chart.

BASED AND REDPILLED

I see where you're coming from. Also, I know memelords play the whole HxH vs other shonen for every YOU they can muster, but I do believe that when he's actually trying, Togashi is up there with Toriyama and Inoue as thr best choreographers/panelists SJ has ever had, and certainly among the best in the business.

Put in Black Clover for "Greatest at encapsulating the essence of battle shonen"

>two characters attacking each other
>one tries to get some distance to fire a projectile, it fails
>the other lowers his guard and gets hit
>he dunks his opponent and lets his guard down once more
This is dumb. What a waste of ink.

Post good choreography

>most complex battle system
my big issue with Shonen is that they create these big systems with all kinds of counterplays and interesting powers but then have the protagonist just be someone who is strong and good at punching.

It's not bad in one or two series but the more you read the more you realise how fucking common it is

Most Creative Designs and Fights - JoJo is one option, but I think there also others like Zatch Bell, just to keep ones options a little more open ended.

Best Fight Choreography - Arguably, DBZ is at the top, without a doubt, but I think that JoJo (Highway Star and Civil War being the best examples that I could think of), Hokuto No Ken (during the General Ran and Raoh fights), original Dragon Ball (mainly during the Red Ribbon, Tournament, and Piccolo (including Jr.) sagas), and Yu Yu Hakusho (Chu Vs Yusuke, Team Urameshi Vs Sensui, Yusuke Vs Toguro) had just as good choreography.

Most complex battle system - Granted, I'm not a huge fan of the nen system in HxH. Even if it is the best explained, I feel that its not utilized to its full potential (probably because the creators on hiatus most of the time) and a lot of contingency pulls a lot of its strings to its shortcomings (who thought of the best way to go down would be to blow yourself up after you used your ultimate attack). I think a simpler battle system like Hokuto no ken or Dragon ball would be a lot more cohesive; or even the original Yu Yu Hakusho without a doubt.

Two of the greatest villains - Sensui and Toguro, obviously, though Raoh and Souther, Rikishi and Mendoza (though more obstacles than villains; AnJ), etc., would like to have a few words with them as well.

Impressive world building - Even with all of One Piece's lore, it feels padded onto it rather than naturally coming about. Original Dragon Ball, FMA, and Ashita No Joe had more open-ended and consistent worlds (even if the first choice is a bit gimmicky) with the latter two being open to internal and external conflicts for the main characters.

Greatest sports manga - AnJ holds the crown on this one. Though Eyeshield 21 is a good runner-up with one of the characters BRINGING A FUCKING MACHINE GUN to the stadium.

(To be continued (not a JoJo reference...yet))

>db manga

Alright

Historical accuracy - Even if RuroKen is "accurate", characters like Shishio Makoto felt bastardized when their philosophy of social Darwinism is mainly just a textbook reading so it'll jump over kids' heads. Granted, I don't think any historical manga is accurate as it mainly reads like pop history. If I wanted to read history, I'd read the real stuff only.

Finest delinquent - Without a doubt, Blazing Transfer Student (not many people know this manga), but too bad the MC is a flatfag.

Best evil organization - Even though Giant Robo isn't a specific example on this list, it probably has the best evil organization that I can think of in fiction, with Hydra being second close to it.

Grandfather of shonen - Ashita No Joe...no contest.

Attached: bts04.png (640x480, 402K)

I really love how Toriyama sells big punches hurting like a motherfucker when they land. The only other author better than him at that is Keisuke Itagaki. That man is the God of weight.

Is this thread, dare I say, a deconstruction of "shounen wars"? While the usual shounenshit bait thread would pit 2 shows against each other (not unlike the common Yea Forumseddit console war), this thread instead takes a step back and acknowledges that each of these manga have their own merits. It's quite similar to the anti-war messages presented in Go Nagai's "Devilman", but on a much smaller scale. Declaring them "kings of shonen" is obviously a huge stretch, but it wouldn't be a bait thread without that kind of hyperbole.

BTS is awesome. Everything by Shimamoto is a blast to read, especially the pen series.
