The Witch of BFFs doomposting is more of all the surrounding scenes that have been cut/removed/altered, inner monologues removed, different words used when describing Rem, she's 'important' to him, not he 'loves' her, etc... that have lead some to fairly hyperbolicly state that if you just read the LN you would have no idea that Subaru actually cares for Rem in any sort of romantic way at all, merely a coworker/friendly and platonic relationship and thus when the Witch of Lust appears as her it doesn't make any sense and thus she's actually the Witch of BFFs.

i wont spoil anything but theres a fair bit of good character development for subaru, especially in terms of how he uses RBD. its really satisfying, and by the start of the next arc it feels like him and the emilia camp in general have improved a lot

Alright. So basically Puck is Emilia's actual dad (Who from here on shall be referred to as Paco), who is an elf, Fortuna's brother and all that. Her mother is Minerva. However, Paco is a manslut, as his slutty elf genes decree, and he has another daughter with Pandora who is Satella. Pandora, incensed that he would cheat on her like the elf slut he is gets all the other witches killed in bizarre accidents and sets up the ultimate protection club for her daughter. As a founding member of the Cult to keep his daughter safe, Paco is bound to not be able to interfere with Pandora or her cult.
Subaru continues along the path of two-timing as well, and the result is much the same, leaving a broken Subaru who travels through time to become Al and tries to stop himself from ever having met Rem by killing her as a child.

All the light novel changes and emilia shilling started AFTER the anime user. Anime was the one that started to cut things like subaru's confession to rem, the light novel just followed it.
The light novels are being rewritten since they had the anime in mind. Subaru's feelings for rem are downplayed in arc 4 because in the anime, the confession never happened.
And yes, enjoy your emilia shilling. The most blatant example is the scene with puck baiting subaru at the end of arc 3 and infodropping him after that. It was changed to this to shill emilia (it even got an illustration) when this scene didn't even exist in the web novel.
