Its pretty incredible how Tatsuki and co are able to make scenes of just characters talking to each other not boring. Less things actually happen in Kemurikusa compared to Kemono Friends, even full episodes of 2 characters mostly just talking to each other, and yet they werent boring and felt short. There arent any straight up exposition dumps and the dialog feels pretty natural. I also like that he doesnt dwell on drama. Hardship is placed and the characters go forward.

I don't think that's necessarily true. They are intrinsically tied together by an invisible red string of fate, and though they were once separated, they will always find their way back to each other again. It's the same situation as Mirai and Serval. Though they both essentially died and became two different people, the strength of their friendship brought them back to each other. So too were Wakaba and Riri ultimately reunited by the unbridled strength of their love for each other and willingness to sacrifice everything for each other.

It's really interesting to me how given the same general plot beats, Tatsuki can create radically different in tone but equally effective in meaning stories.

I think both Kemono Friends and Kemurikusa are in essence the same story. On a meta-level, Kemurikusa is to Kemono Friends what Kaban is to Mirai. It's Yaoyorozu's way of telling KDKW 'fuck you' in the most meta way possible. We shouldn't forget Kemono Friends, but it's because Kemono Friends existed that Kemurikusa was born.

Their vocal quirks are a way to cope with the hell that surrounds them. As such, they don't need them after victory. They still like them, though, so they keep talking like that.

So in the end, we should praise Kadokawa for having financed the Kemono Friends anime adaptation and allowing Tatsuki to show his talent, before he betrayed the trust that Mine Yoshizaki and dared upstage him.

To me it's the other way around, I think Kemono Friends inherited some of the ideas they originally wanted for Kemurikusa but weren't sure they'd ever get the chance to fully explore. I'm really glad that both series exist, there are many parallels between them but it's as if they start from opposite directions but reach the same conclusion of hope and happiness in the end. They're different enough that I can't really compare them like apples and oranges, for all that they share the same themes they end up complementing each other more than competing.

I'm still riding the incredible emotional high of KK's end but I also have to say 2017 was an amazing year of my life thanks to KF and its associated events (I'll spare the blogposting though).

Yes, the Keifuku-san DVD is more like a collector item for irodori fans, because the video quality is the same or even worse than the only stream, but there is a lot of little bits like the tiny video omake at the end of the short that is only present on the DVD, the postcard and the B5 size 20 booklet filled with art and design materials about the short.

Curiously the Kemurikusa release seems to follow the same pattern, you have a simple keep case with a single Blu-ray plus a B5 size 20 pages booklet. The difference would come then on the contents of the disc and booklet, because you have two audio commentaries for each episode, one with Tatsuki and Isa and the other with the voice actress, plus a video of the event they did on January and a video with the voice actress, plus the booklet has got interviews to the cast an staff plus art and settei material.

The funny thing the booklet idea for KF1's release came from Kadokawa. So YYZ took a successful idea from KF, that they didn't even come up with, and ran with it. Hilarious enough they are not doing the booklet thing for KF2.

So what's the verdict with the show?
Is it good? I loved KF S1.

Similar to KF but different enough to be its own thing. Personally I thought KF1 is still better but opinions seem to vary on that front. First three episodes are on the slow side and you might not like a certain character at first, give it at least four because that's when it starts to pick up.

If all the praise and amazon preorders haven't been obvious somehow, yes. Kemurikusa is an incredible series that earned its high rankings. As the other user said, it does start off slow, but picks up pace and really reels you in.

Well, that is the first thing, they really liked Kemurikusa and they want to show their support to Tatsuki and Kemurikusa, although to buy the BD player is pretty recommendable because you get the episodes with possible corrections and a much better video and audio quality than the shitty Amazon Prime Video streams or the TV broadcasts and the audio commentaries seems to be a pretty informative or at least an interesting experience, so if you want to get that info first hand then you need to buy the player.
Besides, you can get a cheapo Blu-ray player, I recently bought an external Blu-ray drive for my laptop for less than 100 USD and I did it only for the reason of playing and ripping the Blu-ray of Takamichi Summer Works, so I have not given it much use since half a year ago.

No, you are completely wrong. If you get to this page iro-dori.jp/animation.html then you can see that the old version of Kemurikusa has two links to Amazon: the first is the normal version, that is only the DVD and then you have the special edition with the DVD and a booklet, both versions were released on Amazon on 2012/11/01, that is a month and a half before Tatsuki got contacted by Fukuhara on Twitter for first time. Then you have that Ekicho-san, Keifuku-san and Hentatsu got the same type of release, that is a DVD plus a B5 size 20 page booklet, although this time as the only version available.
So with the Kemurikusa Blu-ray release they are trying to be as close as possible to the irodori DVD releases, there are already people on Twitter posting pictures and the first Kemurikusa Blu-ray camouflages perfectly with the irodori DVDs.
The only thing you are right is that the guidebooks was an idea of the producer from Kadokawa Shoten, basically they wanted to hoard completely that release for themselves, for what motives they changed the distributor from Kadokawa on the season 1 to Shochiku on the season 2 is something I do not know.

I was not so sure if Megane and Taremayu also got booklets with their releases, so thanks for reminding me about that I was not misremembering after all.
Still, it would be nice to get a source of that picture and to know if that booklet was bundled together with the DVD on a special or regular version, because Kemurikusa was sold both on regular and special versions, the only difference being the presence or not of the booklet, so I need to know if that same thing happened with Megane and Taremayu.
Luckily with Ekicho-san and afterwards the releases are easier and simpler to follow with only a version available.
