That punch doesn't seem exactly comparable to a nuclear warhead or anything. Also, it shouldn't have been too hard to grab some sandstar and put it into the usual weapons in short order to kick slow incompetent Cerulean butt if Ceruleans had been a major threat.
I was always assuming the island was just contained because mankind wanted to observe Ceruleans and the resurrected animals. It would also have made sense that Japari buns and stuff are supplied from the outside, and that humans just stay away because of government orders, not that they're extinct or whatever.

- Nobody would even care about themes such as humanity and conflict. It's all about Kemonos and Friends.
- Giving too much focus to lore and explanations is suicidal seeing how silly and messy the whole setting is.
- Leaving the main island is not desirable because it would mean leaving the old cast behind and resetting everything (new island, new rules, new characters, etc). Which just doesn't make sense and is unnecessary for a sequel. It could work as side series sure, but not as a direct sequel.
tl;dr: kemonos and friends, if it's not kemonos and friends then it won"t work out.

I don't even know if it is messy, heh. There's no need to carry over the full lore from the video games and such, and the anime's lore wasn't too terribly impossible.

Major western animation studios like Pixar doing movies were able to write their own software and run it all through srs computing power to render.
Pretty sure in Japan the budgets are fucked and they're often barely managing to ship their series because they reduced rendering and animation precision to what choppy 8fps can do. and textures to a very not detailed anime-style [some series of course are different].

I didn't see many animal OR human traits in S2. Doge is loyal and some Friends run shops / a hotel, that was about it.
Arguably, I would have preferred a S1 style bit of happiness where she finds a friend to live in her house and play, or something sweet like that. Most characters in S1 succeeded in doing something significant.
But it's not even the main problem, most friends apart from Doge simply did neither have many human nor many animal traits.

I have absolutely no problems with 60fps animation in Anime style video games. Doesn't seem odd to me at all.
I imagine the MMD video producers mostly aren't putting out as many minutes of content (never mind a lot of backgrounds and so on) per season to allow their studios to survive on low ass budgets?
As I said, western animators also wouldn't generally do 24fps, nor would video games, but the nip animation industry is probably fucked in terms of money. Quite a few of them complained in the past about how extreme the requirements are... very few staff, very little budget, tons of work, shortcuts everywhere to make it work somehow.

KF has constraints on having only one type of Friend and Friends being locked to an island. That plus Friends are actually important characters with individuality unlike pokemons.
You leave the island, it's over, all your Toki and Fennec waifus are gone unless you explicitly make them come with you.
It's just an unnecessary hassle when the first island already has everything you need to spin up a story. From characters, to locations to potential mysteries.
KF2 not really taking advantage of that is a different issue.

Well, yes. That's how travel shows work. You go somewhere, you meet the people, and you leave. Almost every friend in S1 got 20 minutes of screentime during their guest episode, 1 minute with Arai-san and Fennec in the next episode, and 30 seconds of highlight reel in the finale.
S1 friends not on the boat could simply not show up in S2. Or, they could not participate in the main story of S2 and receive three-minute "where are they now" highlight spots during their episodes. Or, during the finale of S2, they could put out a cliched but lovable "time of need" development where the S1 friends work together to accomplish a something that becomes relevant.

Apart from that, S1 almost always had one or a few friends per episode. Yes, new animal friends. Nothing wrong with continuing that.
Lastly, there are enough methods by which friends could move between islands. If Tatsuki had wanted to bring Otter to the new island for some reason, Kaban could just ask one of the mighty migratory bird friends and one cut / "1.5h" later, she could have been there. Or maybe there's a bridge. No real problem, really.
