Seinen only defined by where is published and if have sex on screen. The rest, anything goes.

not that "more sex and violence" is a real characterization of seinen manga, since it comes in a variety of genres just like shounen does, a lot of which do not even feature violence or sex

Shonen Jump manga has to adhere to the Jump formula (Effort-Victory/Justice/Friendship), seinen can do it, but Shonen Jump manga's biggest hits can't not do it.

Those terms just mean the target audience for the magazine they run in.

Shonen Jump isn't the only shonen magazine.

shonen is saterday morning cartoon level. typically the setting involved middle school students and they save the world with no consequences. beserk is not saterday morning cartoons in any country. not even samolia and saitama and most of the cast of opm are adults

As a bonus, Naruto wanting recognition, believing in effort, justice and friendship, and being rewarded with victory; newer readers see this as an ideal, older readers see this as escapism.

The art's good and the chraracters are well written, you should at least read through the golden age before dropping it.

Sounds exactly what appeals to teens. I know a handful of people who used to reach Berserk... when they were 14. They haven't touched the series once during their 20s, simply because of how juvenial and immature it is.

To me it's because the characters are exceptionnally well-written, especially Guts, Casca and Griffith. Very rarely was I as engrossed and involved when following a character's journey as I was with Guts.
