Kubo made some comments that could point towards either that or a spin-off. He said that Kazui and Ichika's zanpakutous were a secret, he remarked how Yamamoto's son who was never even mentioned in the story would probably be pretty strong and he also told the novel authors something about Urahara and Yoruichi that caused them to ignore that stuff in the novels because they absolutely wanted Kubo to draw it instead.

Bleach was in the magazine fro. 2001 to 2016 and still has sell more than hunter x hunter that has been in the magazine since 1998.

That interview was translated when it first aired two years ago. The Oda statement was a joke, and everyone including the hosts were laughing. Kubo may have had his ups and downs with some editors, but to say that he's hated over at WSJ by all of them is just an assumption on your part.

There might be other editors that don't like him but he's certainly not hated by the magazine, let alone by the higher ups in the publishing department. Togashi have a very special contract with WSJ that no other mangaka will ever get. When Dragon Ball, YYH and Slam Dunk ended WSJ sales dropped very hard. Then WSJ asked those three authors to make new series but only Togashi accepted and with very special terms and made HxH. He is basically immune to the axe by any means now.

I think there are some rumors that the last Bleach novel teased some kind of a story about Hell at the end but I've never seen any kind of a confirmation for that and the novels aren't translated so I can't check for myself either. I guess we'll see in a week.

Hell saga was supposed to happen in the manga, but when pierrot asked Kubo for some refferences for the movie Kubo gave them a full script which they threw in to the garbage bin. Kubo got butthurt and aborted Hell from the manga.

Kishi's series has samurai and I think it was also supposed to be sci-fi so probably robots as well. Kubo's project will be revealed next week. It may not even be a new series since nothing rules out another one-shot or a Bleach spin-off.

That could actually benefit BC since the anime is only about 1 arc behind the manga. Granted it's a long one but it means the studio doesn't have a very good view of the future events. A Bleach anime would give the manga a year or two to get ahead. I think Boruto might be a more likely candidate for a hiatus or cancellation though.
